I've read every post in this thread. I'm appalled, shocked, and frightened by the reactions on both sides.

Those who praise Trump's words, and those who attack him, are missing the most important element of his speech. Trump is effectively urging Americans to choose one camp or the other, to split the nation into two different, opposing factions: those who will accept to blindly follow him ("MAGA nation") and the rest. You're either with Trump's camp, or an enemy of America.

This kind of discourse should be unacceptable to any true American, proud member of the nation that brought democracy and individual freedom to unprecedented levels in human history. Trump is trying to force people into a "them vs us" kind of poisoned mindset that can only lead to disaster. "United we stand..." - well, you know.

The sad part is that both sides are getting radicalized by such discourse, and the worst part is that such discourse is becoming mainstream on the other side too.

Every time republicans are attacking democrats en masse for being democrats they play into far left's hands, and every time democrats are attacking republicans en masse for being republicans they play into far right's hands. Should the extremists win, neither side is going to care about whether you're a republican or a democrat. As long as you're not one of them you're likely to be shot by both sides.

I don't think Trump himself is far right, but in his quest for power he'll do almost everything to win, including empowering the kind of unsavory January 6 types to do the dirty work for him (because nobody with an ounce of decency would).

What I find hilarious is the left hair their hair on fire even in here when all last summer they were standing up for seattle and portland rioys/take over among others. That was really the big deal with Trump, he fought back against the media/lefties and used their same type of social media language. They called him names and he called names back, they called out hypocrisy, and he called theirs out. He drove the left crazy because typically they could lie about something, and republican leaders calmly tried to offset the position. Trump straight up called BS with the same language being used against him. They attacked he attacked back more furiously. Some on the right loved it some didn't but everyone on the left he was the devil because he used their cancel tactics.
