After my Father's death, I've become the trustee of his Trust. What kind of trust do I need to get a class III item?
Start here: https://www.atf.gov/firearms/docs/t...earms-act-firearms-decedents-estates/download You don't need to have a trust to own Class III weapons.
They are two different types of trusts. A NFA trust is like having having a corporation holding the NFA tax which allows anyone in the trust to have access to the NFA firearms. A NFA formed without a trust limits the firearm to the person who paid the tax, which can create problems if that person pass's and wills the firearm(s) to another.
A Class three license requires an extended background check much like a SECRET security clearance and about a year to process it. Then,of course, it requires cash too.
I already have a few intensive background checks for work and stuff. I got time. And sometimes I have money too. It's all good.
No, it doesn't require a secret security level backgound check. It uses a NICS check. I've had Firm 1s approved in 21 days just last year.
A Class III license requires a LOT more than a NICS check. I said SIMILAR.... SIMILAR..... SIMILAR to a SECRET security clearance check is required.
