Who ya got tomorrow? Home Faves: KC -7 (or -7.5) vs Cincy LA -3 vs SF After last week, KC has to be a LOCK to Win. LA v SF is a little bit trickier. LA is playing for a Home Game in the Super Bowl.
Just home from a 10-day Caribbean cruise. We got to watch all four playoff games from deck 17 of the Enchanted Princess. All four of those games were so much fun, with Chiefs/Bills being the most insane game I've ever seen. Most of you know that my husband is a Chiefs fan. We were sitting with Bills fans, so it was huge fun! Here was our view for 12-ish hours last weekend.
St. Thomas, St. Lucia, Antigua, Barbados and Dominica. No excursions though, and no wandering outside of port without excursion. We have been all over The Caribbean. Aruba being the exception, and perhaps Grand Turk, they are all mostly the same. The ship is the destination.
I'll take Cincy in OT. I never thought Cincy could keep KC under 35. But they shut down KC in 2nd 1/2 and OT. And Burrow only got sacked once, shocking.
KC is a Disgrace to Football. Mahomes is an Overrated and Overpaid Bum. 21-3? Right before half, they had 1st and Goal from the 1. They screwed up and didn't even score. PRIDELESS! Can't Happen.
Recent Super Bowl champions Made the final 4 this season and the three previous seasons Phenomenal game against the Bills, another very good team So, disgrace to football and overrated and overpaid bum seems like huge hyperbole If they're a disgrace to football, what about the other 28 teams? An even bigger disgrace? The whole league except the teams that make the Super Bowl are a disgrace to football? What other quarterbacks are not overrated and overpaid bums?
What other QBs in the league entered the season with their team favored to win the Super Bowl? Only one - Mahomes What team was the biggest Home Favorite this weekend? And, before Sunday's Games still the favorite to Win the Super Bowl? KC and Mahomes. Which QB crapped the bed last year (as the Favorite) in the Super Bowl? Mahomes. Who signed a contract worth over $400 Million, and chokes in big games? Mahomes. As far as the Buffalo game? KC would have been better off losing. If Mahomes was gonna stink up the joint (and disgrace himself, and by association the entire NFL) by being a Prideless Loser, then he would have been better off losing last week. The Buffalo Comeback means NOTHING if you don't win the following week. If you are Mahomes, who had spent a whole season trying live down that Horrific Choke in last year's Super Bowl--losing that game to Cincy (up 21-3 at Home) Can NOT Happen. Period!
My husband is expressing these same sentiments. I remind him, however, Brady only went to the super bowl 10 times in 22 years. Mahomes did blow it yesterday. Sure. He won't always. Any Given Sunday, and all that. It's true.
This sort of thing happens when fans think the ONLY thing important is to win. I love to watch good football even when my team loses. Getting away from the insanity of the NFL is why I prefer watching small college ball.
These playoffs were some of the best games I've seen in a while. But for the opening weekend with those 7 seeds involved. Even though my fav Packers were bounced by the very problem that plagued them the entire season. Special teams. And another average to below average game from Rodgers.
This game went to overtime. I wouldn't call it choking. It's just that one team did better in one half, and the other one did better in the other half. If the sequence got to be the other way around, the Bengals dominating first half, and the Chiefs second half, you wouldn't call it choking. The truth is, both teams ended regulation with the same number of points; that's not a choking job. OT is a lottery. The Bengals prevailed. Maybe if the rules allowed for the full 15 minutes of overtime to be played, the Chiefs would have prevailed. I never liked the NFL overtime rules. Someone needs to win, after a tied regulation. This time, it was the Bengals. You make the argument that the Chiefs were the favorites. You are overlooking the fact that the Bengals are red hot. Me, I personally never thought that it would be clear cut for the Chiefs. I thought I wouldn't be surprised with a Bengals victory. Joe Burrows is playing at an extremely high level and they have great weapons, too. Mahomes is a brilliant quarterback. I'm not a KC or Mahomes fan but I can see it. I'm surprised that you can't. He's young, and he'll be in other Super Bowls, and will win some of them. Like Curious Always said, not even the GOAT won the Super Bowl more often than less than one third of the seasons he played. So the GOAT won the Super Bowl 7 times. He played 22 seasons. Would you say that he was a disgrace to football, and an overrated and overpaid bum, in the the other 15 seasons he played and didn't win? Also, do remember that this is a team sport. Especially, there is such a thing as an offensive line, receivers who need to catch and not drop the ball, the whole defense that needs to prevent the other team from scoring while the QB is reduced to just sitting and watching, unable to do anything, and so forth. Payton Manning won one Super Bowl, then took forever to win a second one, in his very last season, for a total of 18 seasons. Was he a bum? Several elite QBs in NFL history didn't even win a Super Bowl. Mahomes won one in his second full season. So, let's see what Mahomes' NFL career has been. Four seasons and one game. 2017: played just one game, week 17, when the Chiefs rested the starter Alex Smith. Won that game, throwing for 284 yards, his very first NFL game. 2018: NFL regular season MVP. Got for the Chiefs their first home playoff win in 25 years. Reached the Conference Championship. The game went to overtime. Lost in overtime, to a certain Tom Brady, the GOAT. Got multiple records and multiple awards. Just in the regular season, 5,000 yards and 50 TDs. 2019: Super Bowl champion in his second NFL full season, enough said, but there is more. Super Bowl MVP. Youngest QB in the entire freaking NFL history to win the award. Got for the Chiefs their first Super Bowl win in half a century. 2020: Second consecutive Super Bowl appearance. Played injured, with an injury he acquired in the divisional game, and had surgery 3 days after the Super Bowl. Lost the Super Bowl again to a certain TOM Brady, the GOAT. 2021: Wild Card game, threw for 404 yards, five touchdowns. Franchise playoff record. Divisional round, threw for 378 yards and 3 TDs, rushed for 69 yards and another TD. Led his team to score with 13 freaking seconds left to push the game to overtime (which he won), in a game that has been heralded as maybe the best one in the freaking NFL history. Then, lost in overtime the conference game. It happens. So, the guy plays one game in his rookie season, wins it. Plays four full seasons. Reaches the conference game in all four. Reaches the Super Bowl twice; one of the times he doesn't, loses the conference game to the GOAT. Wins the Super Bowl once. The other one he plays in, he's injured, loses to the GOAT. Wins a regular season MVP. Wins a Super Bowl MVP as the youngest player to ever do so. That's the guy you call an overrated bum. Sure, pal. Sure. Please, let me know what team out of the 32 franchises would not like to have a young QB that does all that in his first 4 seasons.
it has been great football the entire playoffs obviously buffalo -KC game being the highlight but KC -Cincinnati was a close second only the die hard Chiefs fans did not enjoy watching the Bengals win both Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes are great football players and will take over as the games best players barring injury gone are Brady and Roethlisberger..and last year Drew Brees hung it up... Aaron Rodgers only has a year or 2 left...and his style of play is outdated Rodgers played second fiddle to Brady his entire career ..and these young guys will chew him up next year todays best quarterbacks also have the ability to run their way out of trouble and get a first down the old guys could only throw.. Mahomes ,Allen , Burrow , Stafford all have wheels .. their talents add another running back to their offense ..they are young and strong and can take a hit time for a change..out with the old, in with the new I predict the Rams to win the super bowl but I will be rooting for the Bengals Burrow is somewhat of a Cinderella story so far a super bowl win would be his glass slipper
I couldn't agree more with almost every line of your post. The only one I'd disagree a bit is your first one. I thought that the wild card weekend was kind of lame, with lopsided games. Can't say I'm a fan of #7 seeds qualifying too. It's a dilution in quality. I wish we went back to the old system. But of course the NFL wants more money so they added one additional regular season week and two more wild card games. They turned out to be blowouts. Other than the winning teams' fans, who wants that? I'm afraid soon enough they'll come up with 16 teams qualifying for the playoffs, 18 weeks... One of the best features of the NFL is how each game counts because the competition for the playoff spots is fierce. You add more spots, you dilute the competition, and we make the games less consequential. That's not good for the sport or for the players (more exposure to injury); it's only good for the owner's pockets. We the fans may initially feel like "the more football the better" and I get that, but we also want quality football rather than lopsided match-ups.
KC/LA Would have been an unbeliveable Marquee Matchup. But, KC/Mahomes wastes another Trip to the AFC Championship Game. KC has been to the AFC Champ Game 4 straight years (all at Home) and (tragically) only one SB Title to show for it. KC/Mahomes Losing that game (from being up 21-3 at Home) CAN NOT Happen. Period. After what happened the week before with the Epic 13-Second Comeback vs The Bills, Mahomes has to find a way to get W (with an 18 pt. Lead, at Home). Even 55 Hours Later, with time to process things, KC/Mahomes losing that game was 100% Inexcusable. None of the usual excuses can bail out Mahomes... NO..."Hats off to them, they outplayed us"... NO..."A bad day at the Office"... NO..."Any Given Sunday"... That CAN'T Happen. Period.
They got beat by a better team. That's all there is to it. Joe Burrow looks like a young Tom Brady, the offensive line played great against KC and after a rocky start the defense stepped up and shut down one of the better offenses in the NFL. The Bengals are for real, and if the Rams underestimate them they'll lose.
And the new name of Washington's football team is the LLLLLLAAAAAME.... The funniest response I saw was "Can we go back to Washington Football Team?". Danny Snyder strikes again....
