carrying a gun would be equivalent to sitting in a car and yes I would be using it if I was doing that if someone has a piece of hot lead in their chest that prevents them from committing a crime. That's the point. That would be using it
Are you using your care if you are just TALKING about it? Then you don't know what "deter" means. If you have to shoot someone in the chest, then it invalidated the argument that open carry deters crime. You can shoot people while carrying concealed just as easily, so you are not presenting an argument for open carry, but for carry in general. So, every time you carry a gun on your hip, it is counted as "used in self defense"? Ok, now we know where the 2.6 million number comes from. It is totally meaningless.
With about 20,000 existing gun laws on the books and the reality that criminals do not obey laws, I'd say we have enough gun laws and need to strictly enforce the laws we already have.
Why did your wife make a snide comment? Because she can. Was it wise to make a snide comment? Perhaps not. Was it kind to make a snide comment? Perhaps not. Was there any legal recourse to her making a snide comment? No. Was there any legal recourse to those people simply standing closer? No. People do things as a matter of right, they don't have to make sense to you or anyone else. No one's rights were violated, so no further scrutiny is required.
Making snide comments is the opposite of tact and manners. Your wife showed her ass in public, and so someone returned the sentiment. Its the CIRRRRRRRRRRCLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THE CIRCLLLLLLLEEEEE OF LIIIIIIIIIIIIFFFFFFEEEEEEEEEE
somebody carrying a gun isn't just talking about it they are also carrying it. Show me that they weren't carrying it. Just looked it up. It means prevent the occurrence. When you own this someone who was going to harm you now has a piece of lead in their chest you've prevented the occurrence so yes I know it deter means. well I never made the claim that it deters crime so I guess I'm in validating a claim that I never validated in the first place. I don't know what difference it makes the only difference it makes is someone who gets their panties in a bunch might see a gun and not like it. I don't see any reason people shouldn't be allowed to open care. that's how I see it. Every time you practice with it as well. the way I see it yes. You can disagree.
Ok. So firing a gun at someone is the deterrence. Lets just stop pretending that open carry in itself deters crime, because the argument to promote open carry has been that when the gun is visible, it deters crime I tend to agree that showing off your gun like that does nothing to deter crime. It might even do the opposite, when a criminal sees a woman carry a $1000 Sig Sauer on her hip. I prefer concealed carry because you retain the element of surprise when the attacker doesn't know you are armed.
Feel free to keep your gun concealed. Those that want to open carry will. I tend to expect their draw time to be rather a lot faster than yours.
do you think it would stop somebody from committing a crime? I don't think it deters crime I don't care who argues that I'm not so you can stop pretending or carry on pretending or whatever you want to do. I just don't care if people open carry isn't that kind of like saying her dressing scantly encourages rape driving a nice car and encourages car theft. I also prefer concealed carry personally other people don't. But it is a double-edged sword if they don't know you have a gun they might act like you don't have a gun. I value the tactical advantage over the advantage of display. There are advantages and disadvantages to both
I actually laughed when I saw this response to my question. I hope things for you continue to go well in France. Take Care Rich
Those who get knocked out from behind won't be drawing anything. But sure, it is a personal chaise, and I choose concealed You missed the point, and I tire of trying to explain it. So it seems, but the discussion is about open carry. Obviously such things do not justify crime, but maybe there is some truth to it. If a woman carries a $2000 purse, it might put some ideas in a criminals head.
~ I deter crime by wearing my Covid-19 Contagious jacket wherever I go ... A loud cough also helps .
If you're getting knocked out from behind you're not paying enough attention to be carrying a weapon concealed or otherwise.
People don't get knocked out for no reason, and concealed carry offers no reasons, but carrying a $1000 Sig Sauer presents an opportunity for a criminal.
You're missing the point: If you're in a place where someone is going to snake up from behind you and knock you out without the chance for you to perceive them, you're in a place you shouldn't be whether you're carrying concealed or open, whether you look like a king or a beggar. You shouldn't be out anywhere not paying attention so much that someone can simply knock you out without you even knowing they're there. If you are, carrying concealed isn't going to help you, and honestly a person not presenting an obvious weapon is more likely to be a target than a visibly armed person in such a case.
When was your last novel published? Anyone can create any situation to advance any opinion you have. This is usually called "whatiffery".
People wear watches and rings worth 10X that and are not getting knocked on the head over them. Second of all if you think it is that easy you have never tried to do so and clearly are speaking from conjecture not fact. Maybe it's time to turn off the TV soaps drama and get real.
People with expensive Rolexes are getting robbed. They are called "Rolex robberies". Google it. Even women drug and rob guys who wear them. I am perfectly fine with you thinking people who flash expensive items are not getting robbed. I don't do soaps. Sorry.
People flash plenty of items that make them a target. A pistol is the furthest down the list of items and comes with its own deterrent: This person is armed and can easily shoot me. People wear attitudes and clothes that make them a target ffs. If you think you're not carrying anything or wearing anything that makes you a target other than a pistol, you're not thinking clearly.
True. If 100lb woman can rob a 250lb man of his Rolex, then same can be done for a gun. Couple of drops of a select substance will do the trick,
You shouldn't drink drinks you didn't see prepared, male or female. No one ever taught you to watch your drink at a party? if they've got a little curare on hand they can take you down easy. Perhaps darts full of homebrewed digitalis?
