Lucky for all of us your described situation is not, in fact, analogous to anything.

I just heard that Ukraine is releasing all imprisoned members of the world-famous (thanks to Russia) Azov battalion.
These people have proven themselves ruthless against Russian occupants 7-8 years ago.
Russian troops better load up on lube - these people are not messing around!

Ukraine Invasion: Russian troops move 'closer and closer' to Kyiv

More than 2,000 Ukrainian civilians have been killed so far in Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the country's emergency service has said.

It came as Russian forces were closing in on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv and attacks across the country's main cities intensified.

I don't know how the war could ever end as long as Washington is involved. I recall in Syria whenever Lavrov and Kerry came to an agreement to stop the killings, Kerry would call Obama and that would be the end of that. Finally Lavrov decided to forget the US and negotiate only with Turkey and Iran. Not that it made any difference, the US is still supporting terrorists as an excuse to steal Syria's oil. The evil is appalling.

As for Kerson, Russia does control it and right now there is a large air-off operation by Russian paratroopers in Nikolaev and Odessa. Soon the Donbass will be united with Transnistria, and all of Ukraine's access to the Black Sea will be cut off.

I'm not sure though about Mariopol yet even though the city is surrounded, because the neo Nazi Azov Battalion is holding the Russian civilians hostage and Moscow is afraid of mass executions.

Anyway, just in case Washington and Nato get any funny ideas, Moscow said there are Russian subs roaming about with 400 nuclear weapons.

That's right, and it is not clear that taking out Saddam benefitted either Iraq or the US. OTOH, taking out Saddam was the highest priority for the Iranian government, so somebody got what they wanted.

General Assembly resolutions are huff and puff. They have no legally binding significance. The Israelis didn't support the same resolution in the UN security council but promised a couple days ago to vote for it at the UN General Assembly.

The 5 who voted against were: Russia, Belarus, Syria, N.Korea, and Nicaragua. 35 abstained, including China and Iran. I assume Venezuela was among those who abstained.

Many African states and several others opposed to the resolution didn't even vote at all. Cuba spoke against the resolution but seems they chose not to vote as well (different than voting to abstain).

    Syria has oil?

The worst of Azov were released from the the prison and joined the resistance.
    Russki - Go Home!

400 warheads would only piss off the U.S. Also, do you really have any doubts that NATO subs armed with nuclear warheads are present in the Black or Mediterranean seas, as well as Baltic Sea, Arctic, and Pacific oceans?
If Russia tries something funny - its game over for Russia.

This resolution is toothless, but it goes on to show how many friends Russia has. ;)
I treat this vote as another tool in Russian information wars to use against them.

Kind of impressed that China abstained instead of outright voting against . . . doesn't bode well for Russia. But, hey, at least they have North Korea fully on their side! Maybe those love letters with Trump will help in some way.

You are right about the US not allowing any settlement premised on Ukraine accepting neutrality, just as the US wasn't willing to accept any settlement in Syria that wouldn't give Assad even the chance to stand election. But you are wrong about a lot of things about Russia. And Trump is really a deplorable character on many levels, even though I give him one thing: the guy had no more control over his mouth or twitter account than his zipper and that made him (despite his delusions, lies and egotistical self-promotion) more transparent and less fake than your typical politician.

Honestly, I don't really get it. It makes him look small and it's kinda weird to be sitting that far away from people. Seems like a form of paranoia. Unless it's a ploy to have the world see him as 'unhinged', hence, unpredictable and losing it. Hey Now, I am trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I don't think it's paranoia when the fear is rational. Honestly, there is no more realistic threat to Putin's life right now than his inner circle. I hope we keep squeezing them, and I hope they eventually "execute" on that fear.

Are you sure all 141 are doing so:) I can think of quite a few who aren't. Including one with whom Zelensky shares the same religious faith and has been calling and begging for help.
