Trump was in no way unique in calling for it. Trump failed, the same as every other president. He deserves no praise for saying and failing the same way as everyone else while weakening rather than strengthening the NATO alliance and our ties to the EU in particular.

Russia reveals harsh demands for ending war as talks begin; Russia recruiting Syrian mercenaries: Live updates

    ...

Pentagon says Russia recruiting Syrian mercenaries
Russia is recruiting Syrian mercenaries to fight its war in Ukraine, a senior Defense Department official said Monday. The Pentagon did not have an estimate on the number of fighters the Russian military is seeking from Syria, said the official who was not authorized to speak publicly about intelligence findings. There are no indications that Syrians had arrived in Ukraine. Russia intervened in Syria’s civil war in 2015, supporting the government of Bashar al Assad.

The recruiting effort is noteworthy given what the official described as Russia’s struggles to overcome significant resistance from Ukrainians. Meanwhile, nearly 100% of the Russian combat forces President Vladimir Putin deployed to Ukraine’s borders are now inside the country. The official said the main force of Russian troops appears stalled outside Kyiv. Ukrainian airspace remains contested, the official said, with Ukraine able to fly the majority of its warplanes.

Russian article about Putins party calling to nationalize assets of the companies that left, hoping that the factories and distribution centers will somehow work.
The reason why I post this here is because I came across one recent comment in the article that goes like this: “Why do we need the economy? We have a great leader who knows what he is doing and I’m sure will take care of the people if necessary”.
People need to understand - a huge chunk of Russians were overtaken by a dangerous fascist ideology.
That’s the people we are dealing with here. ;)

The thing is that Ukraine has established their own Democracy and Vladimir Putin want to take it away. Putin wants his dictatorship permanently installed into Ukraine and made a part of Russia. Putin wants to dictate to Ukraine that their freedom and democracy will be no more, and they will have to do what they're told. The Russian dictatorship will dictate what goes and no back talk or you get canned. You look at North Korea and their dictatorship used their funds to build bombs instead feeding the hungry people there. Putin won't stop there. He wants the bring back the Soviet Union and put it all under his dictatorship. I'd bet that he'd go after the USA with Donald Trump as President and there would be a dictatorship put in place. If that were to happen, there would be extreme chaos all over and people would be locked away and possible executed or possible genocide. The Russian forces are killing not just the Ukrainian Troops but innocent civilians including Men, women, children and even babies who are trying to get away. Putin wants Ukraine under his dictatorship and will stop at nothing to get it. Putin is an evil man who cares for no one but himself and those loyal to him. It would be a nightmare if Putin wins hands down

Zelensky says Russian forces are 'tired' and 'demoralized' as he speaks about the future of Ukraine beyond 'victory' in war (msn.com)
    • Ukraine's president said Russian forces attacking his country were "tired" and "demoralized."
    • He said his country would take "victory" in the war with Russia.
    • "The government of Ukraine is already working on how to restore our state," he said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that Russian troops attacking his country were "tired" and "demoralized" as he offered an optimistic outlook for his country, saying it would take "victory" in the war.

"We never wanted this war, but it was brought to us," Zelensky said in a speech posted on his Facebook page. "We never dreamed of killing, but we have to knock out the enemy — from our land and from our lives."

He added: "We have to endure what no other European nation has seen in 80 years. And it is on our land that it is decided whether someone else in Europe will fall victim to the same aggression."

Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his country's invasion of Ukraine in the early hours of February 24, and Zelensky said that in recent days, "the enemy is tired, demoralized."

"They came to our land to look for something that has never been here: cowardice, consent to slavery," Zelensky said.

The comedian turned wartime leader said Ukraine would take "victory" in the war.
I believe Zelenskyy's democracy will triumph over Putin's dictatorship

Russians set themselves up for another holodomor - leadership is afraid to deliver bad news to Pootin, so they’ll terrorize whoever they can to achieve their goals, even if that leaves common people with no resources whatsoever. It already looks like Russian military has this problem now, as they prefer to sacrifice the lives of conscripts instead of properly planning the invasion in such a way that they can handle strong Ukraine and avoid terrorizing the civilians.

US House and Senate lawmakers have a deal on outline of bill to punish Russia

    From CNN's Manu Raju

In a significant statement, four top lawmakers — the leaders of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee — said they would craft a bill that would suspend normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus and provide the White House with authority to increase tariffs on the two countries.

In addition, the agreement — announced by the top Republican on House Ways and Means, Kevin Brady, and the Ways and Means Chair Richard Neal, along with the top Republican on Senate Finance, Mike Crapo, and Finance Chair Ron Wyden — would do the following, according to a statement released by their offices:

    • Provide US President Joe Biden with authority to further increase tariffs on products of Russia and Belarus
    • Require the US Trade Representative to use the voice and influence of the United States to seek suspension of Russia’s participation in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and halt Belarus’ WTO accession
    • Provide the President with authority to restore normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus subject to certain conditions and congressional disapproval
Also noting that the lawmakers say in their statement: "We have agreed on a legislative path forward to ban the import of energy products from Russia and to suspend normal trade relations with both Russia and Belarus."

Third round of talks ended. Nothing concrete except Ukraine assures Russia that humanitarian corridors will begin working.

It's amazing to me how the Ukies are dragging out something so basic as getting civilians out of the line of fire. The truth is that they are using them as human shields in order to delay tbe inevitable.

    Absolutely despicable!!

Putin is going full force 100%. When you know you're going to lose, you put in all you can to get some victory.

You know what is despicable? Russian troops in Ukraine! If they weren’t there, we wouldn’t be in this situation in the first place.

Meanwhile, on our side of The Pond, some demonstrators renamed the street in front of the Russian Embassy in Washington DC:

    Ukraine Conflict Update 16
    Mar 6, 2022

PDF link: https://www.understandingwar.org/sites/default/files/Ukraine Conflict Update 16_0.pdf

Institute for the Study of War, Russia Team

with the Critical Threats Project, AEI

    March 6, 2022

ISW published its most recent Russian campaign assessment at 2:00 pm EST on March 6.

This daily synthetic product covers key events related to renewed Russian aggression against Ukraine.

    Key Takeaways March 5-6

    • Russian forces spent the past 24 hours largely regrouping and preparing to renew offensive operations around Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Mykolayiv.
    • The Ukrainian General Staff reports the presence of a large concentration of Russian forces west of Kharkiv that it assesses will launch a wide offensive southwest toward the Dnipro River, although no such offensive has begun as of this publication.
    • Russia violated two Russian-Ukrainian ceasefire agreements, collapsing efforts to establish a humanitarian corridor to help evacuate civilians from Mariupol and Volnovakha on March 5 and 6.
    • Russian President Vladimir Putin has not demonstrated any willingness to de-escalate with Ukraine or the international community, nor has he provided reasonable demands that would lay the groundwork for de-escalation or negotiations.
    • The Kremlin is likely laying the domestic information groundwork for a declaration of martial law in Russia should Russian President Vladimir Putin decide that mass mobilization and conscription are necessary to achieve his objectives.
    • Russian President Vladimir Putin allowed for the confiscation of assets belonging to “corrupt” Russian officials on March 6, likely to acquire new revenue streams at the expense of alienating some supporters.
    • The Kremlin is attempting to deter US or European bans on Russian oil exports by claiming that a ban would devastate world oil markets.
    • Russian President Vladimir Putin compared Western sanctions to a “declaration of war” on March 5 as the Kremlin began to retaliate against foreign businesses.

Because it is unanimous the Ukrainian government doesn't allow civilians to Belarus or Russia. Ask yourself why. Why would anyone deny people evacuation to country of their choice if they care about civilian lives?

Answer is easy - there is war in the East. One would think that an intelligent person would run from the war, not towards it. ;)
Not everyone is brainwashed to a point where they do insanely illogical things. Maybe fascist Russians, but they are a special type of an animal now.

Complete and utter nonsense. Civilians from Mariupol were offered humanitarian route to Russia-denied from Kharkiv to Russia-denied, from Kiev to Belarus-denied. The Ukrainian government uses civilians as a human shield.
