An Astonishing New Theory Claims Past, Present And Future Exist Simultaneously (physics-astronomy.com) For those who were fortunate enough to have been on these forums back when @AboveAlpha was posting, this is exactly the kind of thing that was talked about regarding time. What if the past, present, and future all exist at the same time? At last someone has put forward this idea into the public sphere of knowledge. A new theory, called Block Universe Theory, which bares a slight similarity to the discussions that I've had with AboveAlpha. However, I don't think this Dr. Bradford Skow is AboveAlpha just because this new Block Universe Theory doesn't take into account quantum physics and the free will it gives us. But, this theory was put out there for public consumption.
what if when you die, time is different and you can be reborn at any point in time, even in the past, the people you interact with could be you
This "new theory" adds nothing new, that I see. It seems basically, "what if Back to the Future could be a documentary?" And what little new science is mentioned-- somebody studying gravity, who saw possible signs of "mirror universes"-- is not explained, in the slightest. Gets one big, "HO- HUM," from me.
Thinking along the proverb "Walk a mile in someone else's moccasins."... I always theorized that the best solution for hatred and bigotry is that everyone wakes up as a different person. All the "characteristics" we use for our biases would change every night so people have to wake up as a different gender, race, color, religion, creed, sexuality, physical and/or mental abilities and/or handicaps, education level, financial status and struggles, nationality, language, location, etc.. It would certainly cure the "I managed to do X so <whatever target> is just <a bunch of mean judgmental crapola to rationalize hate>.
Nice sentiment, but the fact remains that we have the power already, to at least imagine life from other perspectives, but most choose to not use that ability. If we were all to become other types of people, I think we would eventually take on the attitudes of our new group, and start seeing our old group, as a bunch of racist as***les, for example. Look at what happens, for so many, after just switching political parties.
My theory- the universe is as we percieve it until we can percieve it differently. I dont see how it matters that time doesnt exist outside our perception if we must still continue to percieve it.
Given that "past" and "future" are human concepts and only "now" exists, all do exist simultaneously in one place; the human mind. As that mind is in the universe, voila!
...or, what if where one was before "birth" is where one is after "death", and that our understanding of these terms is illusory since the terms themselves are?
The past and the future are mental constructs, the human body can never exist in those we exist only in the present moment
Because the past exist only as a memory and the future exists as a hope of tomorrow but you always exist in today Any given moment that you are alive the time is always the present
we exist in our mind, our mental construct of reality "New evidence that the self is a mental construct" https://ronbc.wordpress.com/2013/04/11/new-evidence-that-the-self-is-a-mental-construct/
It isn't even theory since there is no evidence. Theories are suggested explanations for something that is observed or measured. It is just a "what if?" Worth ignoring.
Time and Space are different sides of the same coin. Some call it Time/Space. We travel around the Sun in a wobbly course (the Moon causes the wobble) But the Solar System is flying through Space at a good clip. Our direction is influenced by the rest of the galaxy, and by a galaxy headed straight for us, and maybe a third one, as well. Makes for a crazy corkscrew.. So my question is, what does it means if Time is stuck, while we're flying through Space? You see new theories all the time, a lot of them fall by the wayside. This could be one of those.
The law should just say if you cut the button, you cut it at ground level and leave the root intact. That's proper harvesting. Those things take something like 20 years to grow. In fact I read of one of these legal peyote churches who has a greenhouse where they cultivated and the greenhouse is known as the grandchildren's greenhouse
