unfortunately its justified in the minds of their military thinking....I mean at the moment it looks like it's their only option. Russians will bombard civilian areas in an effort, I'm just guessing here, to bring substantial formed Ukrainian units to battle. I don't think that's going to happen, since small, mobile Ukrainian forces targetting the logistics / supply chains (such as it is) will work better in their favour.
The Russians can't return to a manouverist approach if
a. they can't re-fuel their vehicles
b. can't re-arm them
c. have no substantial force to engage with.

 

OK, so for years now you have had a quote in your signature claiming America waged an 'illegal war' in Vietnam. At no point did America declare war in Vietnam or on any Vietnamese or other related entity. Didn't happen. So, no war according to you.

I am also unaware of any American declaration of war against Russia, yet you describe what America is allegedly doing to Russia as a 'war'.

The trouble is that it will have to be said shortly. you'll soon have ,000s of returned injured conscripts and it will affect Russias in the longer term once this wars ends. Apart from those with diabolical injuries and loss of limbs etc many of your returning military are going to be suffering PTSD and other mental health issues. Aftercare is likely to be non-existant as there won't be sufficient resources left in the military budget, civilian care, for pretty much the same reason, will likely also be ineffectual to the point of useless. There is no duty of care to the Russian troops from within the military under their terms of conscription or through civilian agencies. Families on already degraded living standards will be left to care for them.

And Putin and the oligarchs and the cronies just get richer.....and richer.....all on the back of the the dead and injured Russian conscripts.....now surely that's a reason to declare war....

Your biggest problem is that I live 40 km away from the fighting, and my parents are 7 km away from the fighting. The main hospitals are in the area of our military operations, another one in Rostov, one in Belarus and one in Kursk. The hardest direction in this whole story is Kharkiv and Mariupol. Based on the fact that the proportion of wounded is 1/3, if you take 12,000 dead as a basis, then you should take 36,000 wounded. 9,000 wounded (roughly) in each direction. The hospitals where military hospitals are located are operating normally. So sit down, read CNN and continue to believe that Ukraine is winning.
