Not sure about the news from twitter but, -- these are cool missiles - had no idea Ukraine was producing anti ship missiles . looks like they just entered service in 2021 .. Everyone has these things now .. Navel obsolescence is here.

News about Moskva started the same way. ;)
As for naval obsolescence - that’s true. This will force navies to pretty much hang out in the ocean, far from enemy shores, when conducting operations. Sucks for Black Sea navy though - they have to operate in a relatively small lake. I always said that Russian Black Sea fleet is useless in a hypothetical fight against nato - shutting Bosporus strait turns the sea into a small lake, where the fleet can be easily sank.

Another tragic accident involving randomly exploding munitions, no doubt. The Russian navy is really going to have to work on their safety protocols.

Could well be true .. -- but, is "twitter" .. and don't know the poster.. that makes a difference if is known figure.

I have been following missile development for decades .. telling folks (as I am the prophet after all) this day gonna come .. saying we should not be spending Trillions of dollars on these obsolete floating death traps known as Carrier battle groups. Not that we shouldn't have any ...as Carrier group is/was - usefull for projecting power against Nations who didn't have this technology .. and up until the last decade .. only nations that had it were the major powers. Now .. Turkey - Iran .. Pakistan - everyone else .. "Ukraine" of which I had no idea .. "Neptune Missiles"

This was big blunder on geopolitical chessboard mate - and is why every nation - "other than US" was diverting money away from military .. to the economic war - The real battle going on here .. infrastructure - technology - ramping up economy to compete in 3rd millennium .. now down the toilet on useless and obsolete military hardware..

All was foretold mate .. been preaching this more than 10 years on PF ..

    Well...if it's true...and it's sunk...or badly damaged....it's a "nasty" reminder for Dwarfstans May 9 party.

It'll be interesting to watch some talk shows in Moscow.....I'm sure hemorrhoids will be popping.

True about Black Sea....it's a relatively small(er) area to operate in.....that borders Nato states....so there's not a lot of "elbow room" to move around in.

    Ditto tanks.

Have the Russians lost any of their new $3.7M/each tanks yet?

Yes, but someone is sure getting rich.

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.” Dwight D. Eisenhower

It would be something to see all of the money and industry put into military development being invested in feeding the hungry, developing the third world, and exploring the cosmos. Will humanity ever get over its savage past and nature to accomplish this?

Yes. Then there is this boondoggle:

    “OVERSIGHT BY CONGRESS:

Date Congress authorized U.S. forces to go after culprits in Sept. 11, 2001 attacks: Sept. 18, 2001.

Number of times U.S. lawmakers have voted to declare war in Afghanistan: 0.

Number of times lawmakers in Senate Appropriations defense subcommittee addressed costs of Vietnam War, during that conflict: 42

Number of times lawmakers in same subcommittee have mentioned costs of Afghanistan and Iraq wars: 5.

Number of times lawmakers in Senate Finance Committee have mentioned costs of Afghanistan and Iraq wars, since Sept. 11, 2001: 1.

PAYING FOR A WAR ON CREDIT, NOT IN CASH: ...

Estimated amount of direct Afghanistan and Iraq war costs that the United States has debt-financed as of 2020: $2 trillion.

Estimated interest payments on that $2 trillion so far (based on a higher-end estimate of interest rates): $925 billion.

Estimated interest costs by 2030: $2 trillion.

Estimated interest costs by 2050: $6.5 trillion.

THE WARS END. THE COSTS DON'T:

Amount Bilmes estimates the United States has committed to pay in health care, disability, burial and other costs for roughly 4 million Afghanistan and Iraq veterans: $1.6 to $1.8 trillion.

Period those costs will peak: after 2048.”

Looking at Wikipedia about Black Sea fleet and it looks like Russians have just 3 frigates left and 5 large landing warships in working order. Could be even less than that.
There are smaller vessels, but they can’t do much with those in Ukrainian war.

America's greatest time in space exploration was during the 1960s and early 70s.

During that time we fought both the Vietnam War and the war on poverty. Neither of which turned out as well as the space program.

The U.S. has plenty of resources to do whatever it puts its mind to.

We made great strides in that period and absolutely accomplished great feats, and certainly laid the groundwork for modern space exploration as well. But I'm thinking more long-term and how we can invest in actually building sustainable colonies beyond earth and so on.

Why would we need or want off world colonies? You know the purpose of colonies is to extract resources for the colonizing power? That isn't remotely viable with the technology we have to travel into space currently.

For sure they have .. The new missile tech don't care what kind of tank you are .. so if Russia fielded any .. some are dead.

Think about the Syrian conflict .. how were some desert rat Jihadists with AK-47 .. able to fight the Syrian Military - aided by Iran and Hezbollah -- how were they able to take on a nation state .. and in less than 2 years .. take over every major city in Syria sans Demascus !? <<<.. and I hope you have learned chess notation by now :)

Impossible right ! .. Right !! :) cause it wasn't Jihadists with AK-47s ... had a whole lot more going on 40 nation coalition working hard to arm them with general but also sophisticated military technology .. TOW missiles .. Manpads .. some other goodies. These were a game changer on the battlefield.

Russia had to come in and carpet bomb the place to turn the tide.

This is "Nothing" compared to what we are seeing in Ukraine - camacazi ghost drones .. javalins .. "Neptune missiles" and so on.
This is a new arms race on the one hand .. but not so much among established nations .. who have had this technology and better .. the race is that these weapons are not only getting better .. but are now available to the "general public" of Nation so to speak.

The arms shows .. how do I invest in that ... cause they will be bustling .. everyone just "Woke" to reality as it unfolks .. as the prophet had fortold.. almost to the letter .. and it is only going to get better :)

I'm talking about investing to get there eventually, not relying on what we have available currently.
