That's like mandating conservatives to agree under penalties of perjury, testify, and then sentence them that the January 6 was an attempted coup d'tah. In either case, it will not happen in any reality I know of.

Nor really, but let's assume that were the case for the purpose of our discussion: how does that make my opinion any less valid or worthy of consideration than yours?

Your opinion is fine, but we shouldn’t make law based on religious beliefs. Especially in the case where you are denying a person the right to agency over their body.

Every statistic I've seen illustrates that rape and incest are minuscule fractions of the overall number of abortions (Well less than 1% by most measurements). People that bring it up are usually using it as a distraction from the fact that the vast majority of abortions are made for less sympathetic reasons.

The reason need not be sympathetic. It’s brought up because some want full ban, no reasons.

In another thread about this, I was told it is not unreasonable to charge a woman who miscarries, with murder. Extremists gotta be extreme.

Your imprecision or poor grasp of the English language have made a total hash of this claim. You probably meant to say that 62% of women who get abortions have a religious affiliation, not what you said here.

I don't think we should make law based on non-religious beliefs about "globs of cells" either, especially in cases where it means terminating the life of a developing human being. So where does that leave us? Neither one of us thinks the other has a valid basis for making laws. What should we do now?

Conservatives are really shooting themselves in the foot on this issue. Sure, it is awful, but do you realize how much worse society will get if abortion were banned. There was a noticable dip in crime 20 years after Roe. How much worse do you think things would get after reversing it? The decline of the country will be accelerated.

Here are the key words in the OP link that should activate any thinking persons BS detector: "as the Washington Post reports."

Are some Republicans likely talking to anti-abortion activists. No doubt. Is the Republican party going to launch a Nationwide push to ban all abortions? No [expletive] way.

Does Marjorie Dannenfelser speak for the Republican Party. No she does not.

What this OP comes down to is understandably trying to create an issue deflect away from the extremely poor economic performance of the Democrat Party, the crime enabled by the Democrat Party, the total failure to deal with illegal immigrations by the Democrat Party and the in general poor performance of Joe Biden. \

I assume "actual people" is an attempt to discount the strong interest in continuing living and growing that the developing human being has, right?

That developing human is not viable. It could miscarry anytime, or turn ectopic. Let women decide for themselves. give them 8-12 weeks.

I know, women having agency is scary. It’s working, though.

They're almost all "viable" in the sense that the vast majority of aborted pregnancies, if not aborted, would result in happy and healthy babies in several months.

The difference is we aren’t trying to make you believe what we do, just to mind your own business. Don’t like abortion? Then don’t get one.

So you don’t think they’ll try for it? I’ll be sure to bump when they do, it’s inevitable.

Cramer, Republican Senator from North Dakota.

“Just take my state of North Dakota. Having a North Dakota child killed in the womb in Fargo versus Moorhead, Minnesota, you know, on the other side of the Red River — I don’t find a lot of solace in that just because it didn’t happen in my state,” Cramer said. “I think you could expect that pro-life activists would push for federal protections. I mean, I wouldn’t take that off the table.”

So? It’s about 25% that end in miscarriage. How are you harmed if a woman gets a zygote vacuumed out?

One of us has a very misguided understanding of what an ectopic pregnancy means. I'm open to the possibility that it's me, but what did you mean by a pregnancy could "turn ectopic"?

I'm OK if some states decide that. I'm also OK if some states decide the limit should be at six weeks, or zero. Are you ok letting the people of each state decide what limit is appropriate for their state?

I don't think restricting abortion takes away a woman's agency in any way different from child neglect laws take away a woman's agency to neglect her children.

I view it the same way I'd feel if you asked me what the policy should be for when red-headed conjoined twins born on a Thursday in March get pregnant. They're such a minuscule proportion of all cases that it's not really worth even taking the time to formulate a policy specific to them.

So you want republicans to breed and Democrats to abort themselves…

    …I can live with that
