which likely violates federal law and is a fascist tactic. I didn't hear a peep from our devout Catholic president, did you?

Parishioners Thwart Abortion Activists’ Attempt to Derail Mass (dailysignal.com)

"Parishioners at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles ushered pro-abortion protesters out of their church Sunday, thwarting their attempt to disrupt the service, according to footage posted by the Catholic News Agency.

During the church service, pro-abortion demonstrators walked between pews toward the front of the church in an apparent attempt to reach the altar before being blocked by parishioners and escorted out of the building, according to the footage shared by the Catholic News Agency."

Especially in LA. Where I live 550 miles north on I-5 that would not have been tolerated or even attempted.

Dumb. The RCC isn't responsible for anything the SCOTUS does and these wacktivists aren't doing themselves and their cause any good alienating people with their idiotic antics.

You people are <censoring myself>. NOBODY is "pro-abortion". We are pro-CHOICE (something that seems to escape you).

    Man-up. You're pro-abortion and so am I. Being pro-euphemism doesn't change that fact.

You can lie to yourself but you can't lie to me.

Honest question: Why can't you admit you're pro-abortion, i.e., support the right to terminate a pregnancy? Is it because you can't make a legitimate moral and intellectual argument in favor of our position?

I can, and I have the moral and intellectual courage to do it, right here in the Opening Post:

Is there a right to abortion, and if so, where does the right come from?

So what federal law was violated here? At best, it may be trespassing, but that is local law or disturbing the peace, another misdemeanor.

I don't exactly agree with what the protesters did; however, I see no federal law broken and only see a local misdemeanor law or two broken. Personally, church service should be free of political intrigue whether it's abortion or some evangelist stating "Trump is the reincarnate of Christ" sort of thing or what Pastor Jim Jeffries does occasionally with his Church Services, or what Pastor Greg Locke preaches, etc. All of them try to instill politics into their form of Christianity, sometimes with Absurbity.

Weren't you the one who started a thread indicating that abortion is a right and then argued under your logic it was?

    1. Neither are you.

    2. Not hardly. I don't hide behind euphemisms because I can't make a legitimate moral and intellectual argument in favor of my position.

I'm the one who started a thread claiming that every individual has a right to self-proprietorship and terminating a pregnancy is an extension of that right.

I looked it up. I don't find a federal law, but it appears there is California law prohibiting it.

Yes, "pro-choice" is the euphemism for PRO-ABORTION. We already knew that.

We also know that when it comes to abortion, many people try, and fail, to have it both ways. They want others to believe that while they are pro-abortion, they are anti-abortion, which is ridiculous of course, and some of them get angry when others don't play along with their charade. This anger and the lashing-out at others may be attributed to:

    Cognitive Dissonance

The term cognitive dissonance is used to describe the mental discomfort that results from holding two conflicting beliefs, values, or attitudes. People tend to seek consistency in their attitudes and perceptions, so this conflict causes feelings of unease or discomfort.

    https://www.verywellmind.com/what-is-cognitive-dissonance-2795012

Or, perhaps, they get upset because they're being forced to be held morally responsible and accountable for a position that supports the termination of human life. This, too, could be a result of the inability on one's part to form and express a coherent moral and intellectual argument in support of their pro-abortion position. When you lack the ability to form and express a coherent moral and intellectual argument in support of abortion, it's highly likely you're going to lack the courage of your convictions, and when you lack the courage of your convictions it's highly likely you will try to dissemble

    dissemble
    verb
    dis·sem·ble | \ di-ˈsem-bəl \
    dissembled; dissembling\ di-ˈsem-b(ə-)liŋ \
    Definition of dissemble

    transitive verb

1: to hide under a false appearance
2: to put on the appearance of : SIMULATE

    intransitive verb

: to put on a false appearance : conceal facts, intentions, or feelings under some pretense

I've tried to help those who are having trouble forming and expressing a coherent moral and intellectual argument in support of abortion by giving them a rights-based argument (see Post #9 above). Of course, there are other moral and intellectual arguments that can be made on the basis of the health and safety (in the broadest sense of the term) of women, and of course they all can be combined to form an even stronger argument.

People had better wake up. If they truly care about preserving a woman's right to self-propriety they had better be prepared to fight this battle in their states if Roe gets overturned, and hurling insults at your opponents and doing stupid sh*t like invading churches and disrupting religious services is going to cut it. Those childish and offensive antics are neither persuasive nor constructive. All they do is alienate people and harm the cause.

One can be pro-choice and not be pro-abortion. My wife and I would never have an abortion (except to save life of my wife) but we support others being able to have a CHOICE....because it's none of our business what other people choose to do regarding abortion.

What you support is being able to have an ABORTION legally - that's pro-abortion.

"Pro-Choice" and "Pro-Life" are just anodyne euphemisms...

    anodyne
    an·o·dyne
    [ˈanəˌdīn]
    ADJECTIVE
    1. not likely to provoke dissent or offense; inoffensive, often deliberately so

After all, who could possibly be against Choice or Life?

And as we all know, the extremists on both sides think if you're against their particular euphemistic construct there must be something wrong or even evil about you, and if there's something wrong/evil about you, that justifies doing anything to you - whether it's marching into a church and disrupting a religious service or lighting up an abortion clinic.
