    HYPERLINK has full article

    snip

Overdose deaths skyrocket by 41% in the Democrat-led city as homeless addicts collapse on sidewalks

    end snip

It's an interesting albeit long read, but well worth it. The article is filled with facts. It makes you wonder why you don't hear more about this from the top notch media outlets like NPR, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN etc

This is a human tragedy but didn't need to be. If only the folks did not vote Democrat

More than 1000 people died in Oregon from overdoses last year. If they had died from bullets rather than needles they’d be blaming the NRA and conservatives.

Portland is the worst city to live in the United States! Even worse than Chicago, which is horrible.

Does it really make you wonder, Sec, why we don't hear more about this story from the Mainstream Media, when all we heard about the story from you-- though you clearly have an axe to grind against Democrats & the Left, and described your source as, "an interesting albeit long read, but well worth it. The article is filled with facts"-- nevertheless, was this:
The natural assumption would be that your going more deeply into the story, would probably only make Dems look less bad, than giving just the tiny snippet, you chose.

as was said, the abuse is there legal or not, just one makes criminals of those that did not abuse

and the national average increased nationwide

~ Very sad about Portland. Was a nice city in the early 1990's. The beautiful state of Oregon goes the way of WOKE ... :disbelief:"

I work in Portland a lot lately, and while I havnt personally witnessed anything that was notably worse than any of the other cities we work in, there is clearly a perception of a problem.

We're told that work vehicles left unattended will be 'stripped', so park within site of the job and check them often.

We cant leave a watertank full of water overnight, even in secured (gated/locked) city property because we will find a drowned homeless person in it in the morning.

One job was severely delayed because the fire hydrants in the area were shut off due to the homeless 'messing with' them (I could not find out what that means...).

Another job was delayed because the homeless were occupying the area where our equipment was supposed to be staged. Its unclear whether they left or were removed.

I did get lost one time and wound up in an area I wasnt trying to go. It looked like something out of a zombie movie. There was an ambulance parked in the middle of the street with its back doors open and some of the medical equipment spread out on the ground near the doors. It wasnt running and there was no one around, neither pedestrians nor cars driving. This was in the afternoon. There was also homeless refuse lying around everywhere in the area- dirty sleeping bags, dirty clothing or rags, random trash. I sat there for probably 30 seconds waiting to see if anything was going on, but nothing happened, so I drove on my way. It was just a really weird scene.

Portland is a **** hole. It’s a shame what they’ve done to that once great city. It never recovered from the riots.

It's a human tragedy indeed but we're also running out of rational solutions to this sort of thing at this point. What are we supposed to do?

The war on drugs is a massive failure and I, as a tax paying citizen who pays A LOT in taxes, am tired of paying for the police to go after drug addicts with the money that I am forced to involuntarily give them. I'm also tired of footing the bill to house these people in jails to the tune of what? 30 something thousand bucks a year per individual?

Either build massive amounts of rehab facilities with my tax dollars and arrest these people and lock them in these places against their will until they are clean OR screw it. Let them OD in the streets.

Either way what we have been trying to do for the past few decades hasn't worked at all.

you are welcome to read the story. Also, if you would open your eyes to the results seen in Democrat run cities, then this is yet another shining example of Democrat policies

~ Well golly gee ... ! Hey — maybe this was not such a good idea ?
    ':below:'

    • On February 1, 2021, Oregon became the first state in the USA to decriminalize the possession of small quantities of all illicit drugs, following the passing of Oregon Ballot Measure 110 in November 2020.
The most used substances were marijuana, methamphetamine and illicit painkillers and stimulants.

Probably has a lot to do with the suicide rate. The lack of sun really got me down while I lived there.

Would you please edit your post, there were no riots just peaceful protests. Read that in the paper and heard it in the news, they surely weren't hiding the inability of democrats to run a city were they?

My daughter thought about moving and buying a home in Oregon. She bought a condo here in California. So far it’s still in a nice area unlike some of the nasty garbage pit areas in California that are springing up… due to the Democrats stupid and destructive policies.

On business I travel to Seattle, Portland and San Francisco. It's shameful what has happened to those cities in just 15 years.

What is more shameful is that people actually vote Democrat despite what has happened with Democrat leadership

The fact that the places where so many bad things happen are in democrat led urban areas can’t be denied. Why whine about the public expression of such reality?
