There was a standing army. Who lied to you?

But, basically your argument is that Scalia doesn't know what the Founding Fathers wanted. And, you don't know what the Founding Fathers wanted. But, you believe we should ignore the Bill of Rights because... Why?

Before it was that you knew Scalia was wrong. Now you're saying there's no such thing as history and we don't know what they were thinking... despite historical records to the contrary and the plain reading of the amendment says the right of the people, not the right of the militia. How many other times do you think the Founders got confused and said "the people," "the State," etc? It must have happened very often for you to think they goofed on this one and nobody every caught it.

Your immediate response with a strawman claim is amusing.

Why would it be, if you are afraid that something as simple as red flag laws is a threat the logic continues that you fear eventually someone will be coming to confiscate the guns

Of course we do, and it is easy to ping pong interpretations of historical documents, and please, don't quote some Founder who somewhere said something, quoting six or seven phrases often without context written by a Founding Father on anything is inane given that the men were prolific authors recording extended views on almost anything

Do you understand what "Due Process" means and why it is a good thing?

No there wasn't, the Continental Army disbanded after the Revolution ((https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continental_Army)

Wrong, never said Scalia didn't now what the Founding Fathers wanted, but rather what he thought they wanted was no more authoritative than others, and certainly nothing to base a major decision upon, and the right of the people is reliant upon understanding what was meant by "a well regulated militia," once again, the prefatory clause, one the Founders deliberately inserted, and one you seem, like Scalia, to want to completely ignore

Yeah, yeah, yeah, you are going to tell us that without proof that any red flag law is going to be abused and manipulated by anyone who wants to control guns

Interesting how the right likes to deflect off of gun regulation by bringing up mental illness but as we see here they are against the very vehicle that could go a long way in preventing any mental ill individual from acquiring guns

Yes, and I almost edited it to change the wording. The ruling shouldn't have even been necessary as this right shouldn't have been restricted to begin with.

Our corrupt bipartisan ruling political class and its MSM encourages Americans to hate each other.
I try to practice tolerance. At this point it is probably an act of resistance to power. ;-)

Pelosi needs to concentrate on keeping her drunkard husband off the road as drunk drivers kill 30 times as many as long guns.

HOUSE SPEAKER NANCY PELOSI’S HUSBAND PAUL CHARGED WITH DUI AFTER MAY CRASH IN CALIFORNIA: “A press release from the district attorney’s office states that Paul Pelosi had a blood alcohol content level of .082% after the crash, and said the blood sample was taken at 12:32 a.m., which was two hours after the collision occurred at 10:17 p.m.”

The right? I am opposed to red flag laws implemented by the Democrat Party for the same reasons I was opposed to the Bush Patriot Act. These sorts of laws are highly likely to be abused and therefore will be abused to deprive people of Constitutionally protected freedoms.

You could educate yourself to at least understand why civil libertarians who are not right wing take issue with red flag laws by reading the following.

You should look up when the US Army was formed. Hint: it replaced the Continental Army and was formed prior to the Bill of Rights even being drafted.

So I say again? Who lied to you?

Again, there's historical records. Real history, and not the fake history that led you to believe there was no Army when the Bill of Rights was ratified.

Your refusing to see logic! I wish I had nickel for every leftist that has muttered that warning :) Simple facts, you have a ton of folks on the right and ON THE LEFT that love their firearms ;) The ones you see barking the loudest are a very small group of radicles so consumed by hate they would live in a crap-pit just to see others suffer with them!!

Our politicians know JUST THAT! They also have a real accurate account of the folks that own firearms and KNOW that many firearms can't all be Republican good ol boy ;) The DNC can't/won't or the GOP will not take a chance of pissing off their side! So each side just stokes their constituency as they have for so many decades until something like Monkey Pox breaks their lil fixation and we all just let the bullshit all melt away :icon_shithappens:

All they have to do is repeal the 2nd Amendment. Step up to the plate now and make it part of the DNC platform. Do it now libs. Stop crying in your beer.

I find your lack of faith in the court disturbing . After McDonald, what the court did was completely consistent with the constitution. Justice Thomas was correct-the second does not require permission of Democrat bureaucrats to exercise. Its time for the court to clean house. There are so many state and yes federal gun laws that are disgustingly unconstitutional .

well regulated has no relevance to

    1) creating a power not mentioned in Article One Section Eight,-for the government to regulate in any way, what arms private citizens can keep and bear, own or use in their sovereign states in their PRIVATE capacities

    2) anything to do with "regulating" the militia-well regulated meant in good working order

Did not pay attention! Or could it be something worse…

Our public school civics class are no longer teaching their students about the truth of the Second Amendment?
