A main difference, at least in respect to this controversy is that liberals are not imposing their view on anyone, whereas conservatives are. Nobody is telling anyone they must HAVE an abortion. (though in the case of most conservatives they ARE doing the world a great favor) There is a certain group of people who reside here who have a real problem with the idea that this is a "free" country. They cling to the view that a nation is composed of people who all think and act alike, or they are coerced to do so, and that ensuring this conformity by force is the proper function of government. With all due respect I hesitate to call such people Americans since they share so few of our core values and will simply fall back on what they appear to be calling themselves today; Republicans

The fetus didn't choose to be inside the woman's body. It can't speak for itself. A comatose person didn't choose to be comatose and unless they left a medical directive laying around someone else will have to speak for them. Therein lies the "parallel". So, what about a non-viable adult? Should we be allowed to murder people our of convenience? The problem here, is the pro-choice argument (to which I subscribe) is not cut-in-dried. It has serious moral conundrums that are not easily validate. Any rationalization you can make for a fetus, I can make for a living adult. In our society, we have deemed that killing a person is morally outlawed. This creates a whole lot of problems from the pro-choice position.
With the SCOTUS ruling, absolutely nothing has changed. All the decision pass responsibility for deciding abortion rights to the states. It did not outlaw all abortions like some liberal zealots have claimed. No state will outright ban all abortions. They will put cut-off dates. We have seen state abortion laws that set the cut-off dates at 6 weeks and 15 weeks. If you really want an abortion, then make a trip to Colorado. They have set the cut-off date at just before the baby is born naturally. All the SCOTUS did was create a new niche of the Travel industry. The Abortion Tourist industry.
