Abortion has not been banned. The SCOTUS merely sent it back for the PEOPLE to vote on it. It is called democracy.
You and I agree on many points, and I respect your views. However, this one is different. I would ask that you examine your position for a moment with a parameter that is generally discarded by the anti-abortion view. It's convenient and easy to say that life is the most important value- but that is actually a conditional statement, an incomplete point of view. To me- it is the quality of life that is important. Life in misery, either your own or including that brought to those around you by you, has little value for anyone. For a child to fulfill it's potential- it needs many things, but generally the things provided by a supporting environment and positive nurture. That generally means a good family. Just as those things build solid people that better our society, the lack of them develops troubled angry kids and build adults that lack values and character, are prone to violence and often the ability to be good for anyone, including themselves- and this problem perpetuates itself when unwanted pregnancies result in unwanted children. Abortion is a choice usually made by desperate people, when there are no good options on the table. If we look only at the immediate questions and ignore the long-term effects, we bring a lot of misery down on all of us. I think that most aborted pregnancies result from the belief that the time in life is not going to allow that nurturing environment, and insure that misery will likely befall both child and parent. Imagine you start to build a house- but then realize that you are in the middle of the San Andreas fault, where it intersects a flash-flood corridor. If you understand what the position you are in will result in the devastation of the what you are building as well as putting you in a position of bankruptcy for many years, you would probably decide that you must abandon that project and wait for a better environment. It's not the choice you want to make, it's the choice you must make to avoid disaster. Thousands of people yelling at you demanding you allow them to tell you what to do- does not clarify the thinking or change the decision, it only makes the difficult path more difficult. I've had a concept in mind for a long time- whereby newborns, male and female, are given an implant of some kind that prevents the ability to conceive- until such time as they decide they are ready and want children, at which point a doctor removes or deactivates the implant. The objective is to have no unwanted children, no children in homes lacking a parent or nurture- and neither adults or children whose quality of life was destroyed by the accident of ill-timed pregnancy- and no abortion, because the need for abortion would not exist. I would think that science could easily develop that if the interest was there, but so far it's not. In the meantime, the reversal of Roe V Wade only complicates the problem; it fuels the fire and drives the issue underground in many states. Few abortions will be avoided by this change- but many will resort to unsafe procedures and desperate things that will result in a great deal of damage. No victory. I feel sure you understand the importance of the quality of life and the need for children to have the right kind of environment if they are to have a good chance in life. The broader picture demands we see that, and recognize that is key to the whole issue.
What a warped idea of democracy....if abortion is banned then women lose the right to their own body...they lose a basic right , bodily autonomy... Why do you hate everyone, even women, having rights??
You just want to grab money from more prosperous states like California and New York. Of course, you don't want out because you'd be a lot poorer if you couldn't leech off liberals.
Sorry but that is not a basic right. You are wrong. But even so women DO have control of their own body. They can choose to get pregnant or not. The PEOPLE voting to decide an issue IS democracy. A small group of unelected officials deciding and issue is tyranny.
Yes it has .. there are laws banning abortion after 15 weeks .. and there are folks that want to ban it through law .. which was the point that went deer in headlights --- evidenced by silly comment. Regardless .. as you say .. Gov't has no business making law prohibiting abortion .. and on this we agree- the solution - your solution - is to get Gov't out of the issue.
You were somehow unaware that abstinence wasn't the only choice to stopping pregnancy? Or are you advocating for those who have decided not to be responsible for their own sexual behavior to use abortion as their personal pregnancy control platform?
Indeed .. but did you notice the response my comment elicited from the other party Do you not agree Fox ? Gov't has no business prohibiting abortion .. and should just stay out of it. Have we not achieved agreement !?
So its my body my choice until you demand everyone to take a vaccine? Why do you hate Americans who already have a right to chose?
In hope you understand, as the resident hysterics here and in the streets do not, that the Supreme Court has not just outlawed abortion. What they are doing is getting out of the way of the people so that democracy can work its magic. I thought the Left was worried about the loss of democracy. The Dobbs majority has given you democracy on a silver platter. Be careful what you pray for.
A lot to unpack there and I sense I would only be repeating myself if I bothered. Therefore I'll focus only on what I highlighted in bold. That little sperm contributes to half of the genetic code of the developing fetus. The male contributes the important chromosome -- the sex of the baby. Despite the contributions of the male in the fetus' development he is given no say so over what happens to the fetus. Why not? Under the false belief that the fetus is part of the woman's body. Yet even you have unwittingly acknowledged that it's a foreign "object" that is supported by the woman's body. The implication of that only supports the position that in order to rid the body of this foreign invader you have to consider it similar to a parasite feeding on the human body for its existence.
You always leave cost of living out of these equations. You really are not significantly or at all richer. Besides the part of California that I live in along with like minded in rural Oregon and Washington would break away and become part of Greater Idaho in your Jesus Land.
Right. Now you have expressed your bigoted rant, can we get back to the subject? I just don't think your post merits correction. But when you have learned what secularitycid, get back to me.
i don't believe in natural rights, but the founders did. i certainly think that rights endowerf by god or by mutual agreement among men, do not require enimeration (iaw amendment 9)
Of course not!! Abortion was not an issue in 1789! It hardly ever happened! Spaceships and genetically engineering wasn't mentioned either.
If natural rights don’t exist why did you say not all of them are enumerated? It would appear you think rights you want are natural rights and rights you don’t want others to have are not. From your post on abortion it looks as if you consider abortion a natural right.

To Republicans democracy is taking away rights from people they hate..
FoxHastings said: ↑ What a warped idea of democracy....if abortion is banned then women lose the right to their own body...they lose a basic right , bodily autonomy... Why do you hate everyone, even women, having rights?? So you believe slavery is A-OK.....and if somone needs a new heart or kidney they can force you to give them yours...that's weird.. LOL, you basic understanding of biology and reproduction is nil. NO one can choose to get pregnant. So if Americans vote to have abortion legal you are OK with that?
All I know is that France leads the entire world in anti-Christian hate crimes. It has been escalating and it will continue to escalate. Your culture and your history is being incinerated right in front of you. It will eventually be erased. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/churches-destroyed-in-france/
FoxHastings said: ↑ , NO, men can stop having sex..... That's a CHOICE ...and one that Anti-Choice/Anti-Women people recommend all the time for women.. In fact, men should step up...if they don't have sex there won't be any abortions Why are they failing?? You somehow conjured that myth up from the post of mine you quoted...and were NOT followiing the conversation with the idiots who think women shold just stop having sex. I advocate for freedom, liberty and the right to bodily autonomy....anyone who wishes women don't get the right of bodily autonomy are misogynists..and deplorable.
