Dobbs allows free choice abortion to any # of weeks dictated by state law. And Kansas law is that abortion is legal up to 20 weeks on the theory that the fetus feels the pain after then.

When a fetus becomes a person cannot be determined by science, it is a political/philosophical question which can only be decided by court decree.

So, when it 'matters' depends on the decree which, apparently, varies from state state.

Court decisions cant be "overridden by legislation". Thats why some in Kansas were trying adopt a new amendment to the Kansas Constitution because they cant use legislation to override the previous Kansas Supreme court decision that the Kansas Constitution guarantees a right to abortion.

the 'answer' is whenever a court decrees. If a tomato plant responds consciously to music, which it does ( rock and roll hard metal music the plant wilts, classical music and it thrives ) who's to say it's not conscious?

    https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/info/how-music-affects-plant-growth.htm

My point is that we could philosophically argue a plant is conscious given the above experiment, then we could argue just about any organism is conscious, so I"m not seeing how science has made your 24 week determination. Moreover, is an unconscious human being who has been born, but rendered unconscious, no longer a human being? I think the outside the womb viability argument is better.

Depends. We're both guilty of a half truth.

When the Supreme Court rules on a constitutional issue, Congress cannot overrule it unless an amendment to the constitution is made. So, there, you are correct. However, when the Court interprets a statute, Congress can, indeed, overrule it with new legislation.

Scotus interpreted the constitution in a particular way, with R v W, and under Dobbs, it reversed it's ruling, thus the court no longer takes a stand on abortion, leaving states free to legislate on the issue.

I don't and neither do you it is not and should not be a federal issue. In fact too much of the law is already run through DC and their needs to be a lot less not more.

Have we? I'm not a Republican, but my guess is that the big-wig Republicans watched this vote in RED state Kansas with eyes-wide-open! I hope so! All this untruthful 'abortion ban' horsecrap does is give the radical Left a big stick to hit the rest of us with!

Fake News. The National popular vote isn't the electorate for the Presidency, or any national office.

SCOTUS granted a woman's right to abortion, 50 years later they took it away.

That's what it is to the millions of women who are affected, whether your say it, argue it or not.

And, in Kansas, you now see the consequence.

Trivialize it all you want. There isn't a republican candidate ever that doesn't want to win the popular vote.

This is truly one of the funniest posts I've seen in a while. All that wasted effort, time, and money for legislation that they already knew was unpopular to begin with. These are the morons you want running the government?

Heaven forbid they kicked the issue back to the States for each state and its voters to decide for their self.

Well, the GOP will introduce a bill in Kansas state legislature to ban abortions. They already have a supermajority in the house and only need one seat for the state senate.

Furthermore, I dont know if it's many considering the plelethora of bills that are not starting to pop up by the GOP on abortion. Texas Heartbill bill does not allow a "choice" whatsoever and Texas GOP, many on your side of the fence in Republican politics, want to go further, including criminalizing. That is not a choice at all, is it Pollycy?

Actually minus two weeks from that as pregnancy is calculated from the last period but fertilisation occurs two weeks later

And at that is it way more developed than the “typical” abortion which occurs at or before eight weeks

Uh yep, RvW told the states that they can't take away a woman's right to abortion, the SC just now said that the states CAN take away a woman's right to abortion.

The idiot you elected is shaking hands with nobody.

But to answer your dipshit question, yes...the freedom of choice is always preferred especially in such a hot botton topic.
