There's absolutely nothing "grown up" about sitting here calling people racist and the other little insults you throw around....
Equating race to culture is also racist. Just because you are the same race as somebody doesn't mean you are the same culture. Just because you are a different race doesn't mean you are different culture. Race is biological and culture is social. So long as you insist that black and white people can't be of the same culture, you guarantee racism continues.
Uh, you called me a racist. You were not discussing an issue, you were simply making a personal attack.
Okay. I think we've been over this and I agree, but you seem to have a lot of trouble understanding that "Black" in common usage in the US refers to the more formal usage "African American". Calling a school board racist because they want to hear the issues that face people of color begs the question "who is the lil racist?"
When you have to alter what actually happened you know you are losing the argument, and you are losing the argument. This is what happened. So on the issue side, it's apparent you've lost this because you can't tell the truth about what happened. On the personal attack side, you are justifying calling me a racist now based on your false retelling of the story. In both cases your conduct is repulsive. If you don't want to discuss issues honestly and only what to throw invective at others, why are you even on this forum?
Honesty? Per usual you ignore context and jump to the conclusion that this is equivalent to a Klan meeting. I wonder why? Here is the context again....."The first of the four meetings will take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15. As a School Board we understand that historically marginalized families may not share honestly or vulnerably about their experiences in our district if they are not surrounded by people that look like them or have a similar lived experience. In this meeting we hope to ensure all families have the space to connect, feel supported, and share authentically. Parents of all races are welcome to attend this meeting that intends to create a safe space for parents and guardians of color and parents and guardians with students of color who racially identify with historically marginalized races." Admittedly, as I've said, the wording of the announcement was poor mostly because right-wingers would go ballistic over it, but the intention was good and racial segregation means the exclusion of a race. So you've got nothin' but faux outrage.
Since you called me a racist, why should I dignify your comments with a response? Particularly since you are simply repeating the same things over and over?
More on the newest woke craze...Segregation! (subtitled: "Why didn't we think of this before?") Degree program exclusively for Black men launched at Chicago-area college "The Chicago-area Oakton Community College has started an academy exclusively for black men in collaboration with the nearby Evanston Township High School. The Emory Williams Academy for Black Men, which launches this fall, will provide a two-year academic program that culminates in an associate degree, assistance transferring to a four-year university, or other vocational opportunities. The program will also offer financial aid, scholarships and “additional financial resources,” its website states. The Daily Northwestern reported it’s a “free degree program for Black, male-identifying locals.”" "Black-male-identifying?" I think I see how how they plan to get around the law!
Because it is indefensible. She does, as long as it's against the "right" people. No, wrong. She is a disciple of Goebbels: she likes The Big Lie. Repeat it enough and it is accepted as fact.
You do know that the government designates people by race? And for cons to invoke MLK, what an insult to his legacy.
Human beings are inherently tribal. We prefer to be around and live around others who look like us. Why? Safety in numbers. It's a primitive part of our brain. I'm not a fan of segregation, however look at the countries that are the most homogeneous and notice their crime rates.
Maybe in America. We don't, in this country. Race isn't mentioned anywhere in official ID. It's illegal to specify race in any employment or official setting outside of healthcare (where woke ideology dies a fast and painful death on the alter of reality ... haha!).
So are Italian Americanism, German Americanism, Chinese Americanism, etc. So what? Difference being, of course, is the ones I've listed have found a way to blend their particular isn't with plain ol' Americanism in such a way to have succeeded rather than demanding Americanism mutate to suit their particular flavor of Americanism.
In my city we have the Italian fest and Greek fests at the appropriate Catholic churches, we have Oktoberfests at various venues, we have a Chinese New Year fest and we have Black Pride fest. Is it the black one you are having trouble with?
And are black and latino people told not to celebrate Chinese New Year? Is Octoberfest exclusive to folks from Germany? I never felt excluded participating in either here in Toronto. I would also very much resent being told I belong to some Filipino culture just because of where I was born. Culture is cultural, and not racial. Equating culture with race is racist. There are plenty of black people who want nothing to do with "African American Culture" as you call it and all the stereotypes that go with it.
Yes, we've been over your personal issues. "There are plenty of black people who want nothing to do with 'African American Culture"', maybe because they have their own culture and maybe they think theirs is better. I had a co-worker from Barbados, black as coal, a very proper daughter of a bishop who thought US blacks were crude and vulgar. She believed her culture to be more civil....maybe it was. Then maybe only you could understand your earlier statement.
Not everything, but enough that the country is drowning in it. Btw, prob said this before, but the country started re-segregating in 1989.
Now go over your own personal issues, because you haven't got clue one about mine - BTW you just illustrated my point.
I think it was me she meant personal issues for. She thinks that me taking issue with the equating of a person's race with an assumed culture is a "personal issue" of mine, instead of, you know, being against racism.
The 90's were still okay for Black Americans though .. it only got really bad this century. As planned by your white supremacist overlords.
Uh...I was actually wondering what "the ones I've listed have found a way to blend their particular isn't with plain ol' Americanism in such a way to have succeeded rather than demanding Americanism mutate to suit their particular flavor of Americanism" meant.
It means they've managed to maintain their culture while adopting to American values such as the value of education, working hard, obeying the law and reaping the awards that come to them.
