It wasn't an example, it was a bit of agitprop that the entire world has seen and lead to the banning of plastic straws. It's ground zero for straw hysteria. You tried to blend the straw issue with the very real environmental catastrophe of micro plastics, but that has nothing to do with plastic straws and it's a good example of how you can be very easily lead by propaganda.

I grew up with waxed paper straws and we did not have this to contend with

Not just America and not just straws

We are “encouraged” to bring our own bags when shopping AND no plastic knives and forks (personally I hate the wooden forks but…….

Soooooo. Where does THAT leave your “poor picked on America” diatribe?

Are you aware of a group called the “United Nations”?

Uh no...I said pretty much the opposite. I said microplastics were a real environmental problem; not McDonald's straws. That's simply idiocy.

Greenie rules are amorphous. They hate paper straws because they use nice green trees. But they hate plastic straws because they mess with the environment. What it amounts to if you are not a greenie then they hate and want to ban everything you do.

Finding a plastic McDonald's straw is like discovering a rare collector's coin in the bottom of your pocket. When the straws first went to paper, people were grabbing them (the few remaining plastic straws) up and selling them like collector's items.

If this plastic straw was a goof-up, I should go to McDonald's again and grab as many plastic straws as possible because they could be worth a lot of money!
