...The Presidential Records Act in 1978 declared all presidential and vice presidential records property of the federal government, with “custody, control and preservation” of the records delegated to the National Archives when a commander-in-chief leaves office.

That means hundreds of millions of records must be transferred from the White House to the Archives before Obama finishes his term. The physical material will go from Washington into temporary storage at a secure warehouse in the greater Chicago area, before eventually being moved into Obama’s presidential library, due to be erected on the city’s South Side.

In past administrations, that handover involved secure 18-wheeler trucks – pulled directly to the White House South Portico – to load up boxes upon boxes of carefully filed material.

Ronald Reagan’s administration established a computer cataloguing system that allowed officials to quickly access any records they needed while the president remained in office.

Because the Reagan library was situated across the country in Simi Valley, California, military cargo planes were employed, packed full of records and emptied at air bases in Southern California. Trucks escorted by police deposited the records at the storage site.

The FBI never backed all of the Steele dossier. They just said the corroborated parts of it. And the surveillance predates the dossier.

the agents serving the warrant probably do not have the affidavit. it is usually not delivered to the defendant as it may contain "sources and methods" that might get informants killed.

 

From the getgo it has been about both with the affidavit being the KEY as to why the search was conducted in the first place.

Explain you position that is the obligation of Trump to justify the search and not Garland and Wray and the FBI? How would Trump know in the first place?

True, but it is not illegal for former Presidents to maintain possession of classified material.
It is common for them to do just that.

Of course, the current POTUS can demand their return.

i am not entirely sure the steele dossier has been debunked, some of it (the russian hookers) might seem unbelievable about normal people but does anyone believe this is a "normal" person.

Only if a person is charged then the defendant/lawyer can see the affidavit.

He has said he will not oppose the unsealing so that it is released in an official form and we know it is COMPLETE.

But then that is not the key piece we need to see it is the affidavit as to WHY the Garland and Wray and the FBI did what they did.

 

ALL presidents have their records and documents shipped out of the White House for review and archiving as I have noted already Obama shipped 30 million pages that he promised to post on the internet and he never has. See above with the link. Reagan had his shipped to his ranch. They go through them with the National Archives and most end up in their libraries. YES they belong to the NA but are put on display and open for research at their libraries.

Now it's fair to say someone is lying, but then it's a proven fact that the FBI has lied in order to get a warrant.

Trump was crying again so Garland is offering to tell everyone what they wanted. It was sealed to protect trump's privacy.

 

It's still illegal for him to take official documents, even if they are declassified.
