Actually, he has. His claim is that he declassified the documents, and given that the POTUS has the power to literally declassify anything, including our nuclear codes (though none have, and none will, but they can), it's hard to argue with him about that. At most, we're dealing with a procedural paperwork foul-up here. If you genuinely believe that Donald Trump had information that, if released, would classify a clear and present danger against the USA, then your personal hatred of the man is overriding your judgment.

My god, the confiscated books of photos. Unless those photos were of the blueprints to our nuclear sub designs, then it is, just like everything else thrown at him (Russia, Russia, Russia, Impeach Fotie Fiv, Impeach Fotie Fiv, yadda, yadda...) is a nothingburger.

Look, I do not want Trump to win the nomination, much less the Presidency, and I'm no MAGA freak, but he has been under assault for this, that, the other thing, and something else over there since the day he announced his candidacy in 2016. Or 2015, whenever it was. I do not know why. At first I thought it's because he's not part of the "establishment", or that he might get in the way of it being "her turn", and may seriously disrupt business as usual in Washington, DC. While I for one wish he had accomplished the latter, he didn't, but I've also come to think there is something much deeper going on with the Trump hatred.

I personally thought he ran as a lark, a joke, a publicity stunt, and had no chance of winning. But I now think that all the personal attacks and harassment that started before he got a single vote from a single person was something much, much more different and serious than even you Trump haters ever even thought of. I also think those attacks were likely the top reason he did win.

Maybe they were worried he was going to release the truth about aliens and Area 51, but hell, they sort of did that themselves a few months ago with no fanfare to a collective "meh, no sh*t" from the American public, so I don't have a clue what it is. I hope someone in the dark cabal will actually reveal that answer sometime before I assume room temperature.

All of the documents? Are you sure? Regardless, this was after requesting the documents for over a year and then subpoenaing them. A warrant was the only remaining option.

I think many presidents have the corrupt label attached to them.

What I don't understand is why Trump, a private citizen, is allowed to have classified documents at his residence.

But that's what they've been doing for the last five years. "They" as in the status quo DC system of politicians who resent an outsider like Trump. It's not working, hence, I think they are once again trying to get an indictment over what he allegedly took to sell to the Russians. The only way they get a win is if they get a conviction. I don't think they will because they'd have to prove intent. Honestly, I think he becomes more popular because the public, (even Independents and what's left of the honest liberals) are finally onto their tricks.

Declassifying them (assuming that happened, and there is no evidence it did) wouldn't make it legal to keep them. It would still be a felony to keep them.

What kind of books of photos are top secret?

The FBI had already looked at everything.

    They had a supervisor there.

There are a buch of crazy people who think the FBI were planting evidence, and some of them will undoubtedly feel obligated to commit acts of terrorism.

Why is the GOP swallowing Trump lies about this search?

And, what could possibly be the valid reason for Trump having nuclear secrets at what is a public events venue?

This isn't the first time that Trump has been found with documents at that location. In February, the FBI took 10 or 15 boxes of documents that were there inappropriately.

Plus, the existence and location of these documents was given to the FBI by informants from within the Trump organization. From reports so far, it wasn't even a search - they just went and got the documents.

Illegal and criminal don't mean the same thing. Everything criminal is illegal. Not everything illegal is criminal. For there to be criminal charges, you need to demonstrate intent. None was demonstrated with Clinton. It's the same thing as the Trump Tower meeting and the failure of the campaign to report said meeting. It was illegal have the meeting and to fail to report it, but no crime was demonstrated, so there were no criminal charges. But, yes, if intent can be demonstrated, she absolutely should be charged and prosecuted. Which is why I supported the investigation. Again, can you remind me of anyone who said there shouldn't be an investigation there? I never say anyone claim that.

FTR, and for those still unconvinced that there was a meeting in June with Trump. IF they were so concerned that he was harboring classified information, why not pack them up then? As Trump has been saying, he complied fully with everything they asked of him.

We all know what happens next. An alleged "informant, a rat, a whistle-blower" tells the FBI Trump stole classifed documents.

He said he did. You're not understanding that the POTUS is not subject to a process. The SC has ruled on this in Navy vs Egan.

You're still not getting it. Patel claims Trump declassified all the documents packed up BEFORE Biden became POTUS. Prove that he didn't. Good luck.

Except it's not basic if we see the quote above you where two people who used to work on this stuff disagree. I don't know why Garland chose this legal fight, but he chose it so now we have to see it play out in court.

He has full clearance. In fact, every single President has a room that he can view anything classified. Tim to put up or shut up Garland, you've inventoried the docs, whatcha got that broke a 230 year history of NEVER F"ING USING LAW ENFORCEMENT TO RAID A FORMER PRESIDENT. Can you imagine the next Republican having the DOJ to raid Biden for proof of payments from foreign governments through hunter. He better have something good and not have been fishing or he's taken this country to an all time low.
