I'm thinking a verbal say-so ain't gonna cut it. Not even a yellow post-it note on the box either.

I am sure you will not be surprised that I believe those Right Wing MAGA Trumpers at the ACLU. ;-)

"The right of citizens to record the police is a critical check and balance. It creates an independent record of what took place in a particular incident, free from accusations of bias, lying, or faulty memory. It is no accident that some of the most high-profile cases of police misconduct have involved video and audio records.
The ACLU has fought—and will keep fighting—to ensure that the right to film and photograph the police is respected by law enforcement officials.”

    Are you kidding?
Yes, it is essential that there is a record of which documents are classified and which are not. Because if it’s declassified, it’s declassified for everyone. Not just the president. Everyone has to know what level of classification they are dealing with.
If trump is right and he did declassify all of these documents, we might as well turn them over to Russia. And China. And Afghanistan and the Taliban and North Korea and Cuba … because they aren’t secret any more.
    Are you ok with that?

The ACLU should be all over this, but they've become a puppet for Democrats.

That was my point in the previous post. If another signed receipt exists it should have been made public immediately.
IOW, it is hard to believe the DOJ/FBI is foolish enough to sit on it this long -- but I suppose anything is possible. ;-)

Sorry, your post doesn't overrule the SCOTUS or the Constitution on a presidents ability to declassify documents at will no matter how many ways you want to word it.

Yes, it was Theodore Roosevelt who implemented the FBI in 1908 as I wrote above. Sorry, but these are the facts:

"President Theodore Roosevelt initially asked the U.S. Congress to create a federal detective force in 1907. Congress opposed President Roosevelt's idea on the official grounds of the long-cited public disdain for an all powerful federal law enforcement agency. However, unofficially, it was significant that in 1906 two members of Congress had been prosecuted for fraud, the investigation of which was conducted by the Justice Department using agents from another federal agency. As a result, many members of Congress were concerned about giving the executive branch of government more investigative power (power perhaps to conduct more investigations of those individuals in the legislative branch). Along with denying President Roosevelt's request, Congress passed legislation that prohibited the Justice Department from using investigators from other federal agencies. Not to be stopped by Congress, in 1908 President Roosevelt created the Bureau of Investigation by executive order and directed Attorney General Charles Bonaparte to develop the agency within the Department of Justice."

Even if you’re right about declassification at will, that would still need to be documented so everyone else knows how to deal with the documents correctly.

And you won't ask yourself WHY Trump needed to take these documents? What was he going to do with them out of office. Why not
return them all with the first batch that the FBI requested?

WTF. Do we let the next President empty the security vaults because he has the authority to declassify? Can you imagine a President
Hillary who can just change security standing on information to sell them to the Chinese after she leaves office? Are you going to claim, "It's
OK, she had the authority to do so?"

No. You rightly wouldn't. So do we give Trump that authority now - to just take home classified documents and not return them for some
    use in the future?

Why wouldn't an honest President simply not return the documents as soon
as he left office? Just answer me that.

    Prove what?

People can only deal with classification of documents if they know what the classification is.

The classification has to be the same for everyone. The president can’t declassify documents for himself only. If they’re declassified, they are declassified for the whole world.

The FBI wanted to know what documents had been declassified. Do you think it's perfectly acceptable that a former president walks off with national documents with no way for the current administration to look at them for future use?

Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't. There seems to be more fury over Trump having been infiltrated or someone in his inner circle flipping on him than there is about potential criminal activity. If the incompetent FBI can get someone to turn, what makes you think someone like China can do the same to someone in his sphere?

You stated every document the president declassifies has to be documented.

    *LOL*

Can he steal the documents because he pretend "declassified" them?

It's already been done in this thread. Do you really think that there's not a process for such a serious act? Jesus.,

Now he stole documents when you don't even know what he has?
What, that wasn't on the Bar exam?

Sorry, your post and opinions mean nothing.
Now, magically you don't know what proof consist of.
