Tribalism is defined as "the organization, culture, or beliefs of a tribe."

Why is it moronic to oppose someone that opposes the organization, culture, or beliefs of their tribe"?

You think of him as a despicable narcissist, but his supporters do not. Thats the point you are missing. Whether you like it or not, Trump is still extremely popular in Republican circles. If a person opts to oppose a high profile figure in their "tribe", you are betting on the notion that everyone else will oppose him as well or you WILL be ousted in the next election. There is nothing moronic about this even slightly. The only thing moronic would be to think that you could join with the enemy in opposing a popular figure in your party and still remain viable as a candidate in that party.

Your claim about betting that you would do the same means nothing because you would simply say that its not in relation to a corrupt despicable narcissist.Your whole bet is predicated upon the notion that you have already turned on the person, and that is not what this discussion is about.

If you supported a person, and someone from your party joined the enemy and opposed the person you support, you TOO would not vote for that person. If you think you would do otherwise you are lying to yourself.

Did you know Hageman once said Trump was racist and xenophobic and the weakest candidate republicans have nominated. Did you know her campaign manager was Trump's former campaign manager in 2020, and testified to the Jan 6 committee he stopped working for Trump because he felt Trump's rhetoric about the election was dishonest?

I do not live in Wyoming. I am not voting in this election. This is the first time that I have ever even heard the name Hageman. For sake of argument I will readily assume what you say is 100% true. If I were voting in that election, I guess I would need to choose between the lesser of two evils. The above claims do not surpass what I oppose about Cheney. Every voter needs to make this decision for themselves. If polling is to be believed, it seems like a huge majority of Wyoming voters agree with my assessment.

Who agrees with your assessment? Leftists and anti Trumpers? Being that the latter is a tiny percentage of republiucan voters, and that leftists are the political enemy, of course she is going to lose. This is 100% logical and predictable.

I am not sure what it is that you are trying to argue.

Cheney isn’t finished. She’ll have a longer shelf life in the United States than this autocratic movement and quite possibly the Republican Party itself.

She’s exhibiting an ability to adapt, something the leadership within the Republican Party obviously has lost and this autocratic movement never had.

    Liz Cheney's political Oh, Bitch-uary.

"It's no accident that, like French and Bill Kristol, most of Cheney's once-Republican fans and defenders came of age professionally during the George W. Bush administration--and it's clear that they'll go to their retirements with the strong imprint of the politics of that time. While Bush's GOP will always be known for the unwon wars in the Middle East, it was nevertheless a "compassionate conservatism," prioritizing virtue-signaling and heroic posturing rhetoric as policy, regardless of its absurdity."

"For some liberal Republicans terrified and confused in the current moment in American political life, a frenzied hatred of Donald Trump masks issues that seem intractable. Not only is there no danger of being canceled by hostile reporters, editors and cable news hosts, these faux-dissidents can bask in media coverage usually reserved for the most progressive Democrats. But these are benefits that accrue to anyone willing to abandon conservatives."

"Cheney has a seriousness and sobriety about her, which is key to her appeal as a martyr. The martyr fetish is something that overlaps with the sexual or political humiliation that comes from rejection is the thrill."

"No, it didn't begin with January 6th. For four years on the Hill, Cheney--together with the remnants of the failed Weekly Standard--relatively quietly indulged in the Democrats' most absurd Russia conspiracy theories. They circulated now-discredited opposition research, listened to maniacs hawking books and podcasts to Democrat hyper-partisans, and nodded sagely when discussing absurdities like Jon Chait's 4000-word claim that the ex-president has spent nearly four decades as a deep cover KGB agent of influence."

"Cheney and the boys who send her love notes at the Dispatch and Bulwark aren't necessarily dumb or unsophisticated people; they're just broken. They are blinded by a hatred that deforms their ability to properly assess situations. The bottomless evil they saw in Trump, they believed, made him capable of anything. And, if he was capable, he was surely guilty of anything the most fevered imagination could concoct."

Her loss is a downpayment on the Nation's gain.

The first 500 votes are in.

700 more to go and it's all over.

5% of the vote in. She's getting whipped by 20 points, Harriet Hageman is already the declared winner. The defeat of Cheney is the downpayment on the restoration of America, the next big big step will be Nov 8, when Republicans go to the polls (Dems vote on Nov 9.)

She'll be the "Republican" that always sees the highest moral calling in agreeing with the Democrats position. In return they will serenade her as the Democrats favorite Republican.

LOL, okay. She is just an idiot who actually believes the leftist propaganda BS. I don't see how that's a good campaign to run on.

Maybe the second most universally despised politician(other than Nancy Pelosi, for similar reasons of failing her electorate, let alone that of the entire country). Her whorish policies which basically gave a middle finger to every Wisconsin citizen(even those who were Democrats, unless hearing her bleat about 1/6 is something you really want in a representative) has left her out of a job as grassroots activists across the country utterly and rightly despised such lack of representation in government.

Now she can feel free to run for Wisconsin State Attorney General, which from the last 12 months was clearly the gig she was running for. Thing is, you kind of have to vote that in too and I'm not sure the people would be willing to give her that spot either.

Good riddance to some awful garbage.

Sure looks like her only sin was to choose the Constitution and rule of law over party idol (Trump)

That seems to be a pattern for our politicians, doesn't it. There is no "service" being done by our public servants, only self serving aggrandizement. Most of them should be in prison.

That's a lie, as usual. For one, her dad is worth hundreds of millions. You don't suppose daddy helped little do you? Duh!!!!

    The verdict
It’s safe to assume that Liz Cheney and her husband Philip Perry both worked to earn the fortune they now share. Both were high-ranking attorneys who worked in high-level government positions. It’s still unclear exactly how Liz came to have an estimated net worth of $7 million, but we assume that it’s likely because of a few good investments made by herself and her husband throughout their lives together. Liz likely made more during her time as a private consultant than she did as a politician. She and her husband both have brilliant careers in law and they have worked together to grow their wealth. We’ve found no other sideline jobs or glaring investments, although they both likely have made some investments that help to augment their wealth.

Not looking good for Democrats come midterms and 2024. YIKES! Literally every last one of the Republicans that were for impeachment have been ousted. Looks like you don’t have the power you think you do. The people are shooting middle fingers at the Democrats by the tens of millions.
