    It was addressed from National Archivist Debra Wall to Trump's attorney, Evan Corcoran, and discussed 15 boxes of materials Trump's handed over in January, which it says contained 700 pages of classified material.

    "In its initial review of materials within those boxes, NARA identified items marked as classified national security information, up to the level of Top Secret and including Sensitive Compartmented Information and Special Access Program materials," Wall wrote.

    These are three of the highest levels of classification. It prompted an internal assessment of "of the potential damage resulting from the apparent manner in which these materials were stored and transported," Wall said.

    Trump has consistently downplayed the danger of him keeping such documents at Mar-a-Lago, while US officials have said that is was a key rationale for getting them back.

    Oh yes, Crooked Donnie Trump STOLE those documents; he is president, not a dictator as much as he would want to be. Those documents that Crooked Donnie STOLE belong to the government, not a president.

    Obviously something changed, like his lawyer saying they already returned all the classified docs. Or the claims they were switching stuff to diff boxes and moving it to other parts of the property.

    Didn't Trump strong-arm ukraine into opening an investigation into Biden? Didn't Guliani call Zelensky and say making a public announcement of the investigation would help him get in good terms with Trump?

    Presidents from both parties have followed tightly restricted procedures that conform to the Presidential Records Act of 1978, which was enacted after Watergate.

    For the three years that former President Barack Obama wrote his 768-page memoir after leaving the White House, the millions of pages of his official presidential records were locked away in warehouses in Washington and Chicago.

    Each time Mr. Obama wanted to review something, his aides submitted precise requests to the National Archives and Records Administration. Sometimes, documents would be encrypted and loaded onto a laptop that would be brought to Mr. Obama at his office in Washington. Other times, a paper document would be placed in a locked bag for his perusal, and later returned the same way.

    The tightly restricted process that Mr. Obama followed to gain access to the 30 million records from his presidency stands in stark contrast to former President Donald J. Trump’s seemingly haphazard handling of some of the government’s most sensitive documents after he left office in early 2021
