Is this your consolation prize? If Trump loses, it's bankruptcy for him and his family, and you're gloating because at least he won't go to jail?
What is it about Trumpistas that CANNOT differentiate between a civil and a criminal action?? It's NOT THAT HARD, people...
Uh huh.. This isn't the criminal case. She's already questioned the Trump family . . . who pleaded the 5th hundreds of times . . . which can be held against them in a civil case. And if you had done some homework, you'd know they've already found a metric **** load, including Trump's double bookkeeping. The case stands to recover far more in taxes and damages than it has cost taxpayers. Again: there's a reason that Trump attempted to settle before the suit was even announced.[/QUOTE] *Rolls eyes* https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/07/01/nyregion/trump-organization-indictment.html Let me know when you get a verdict against Trump.
So you put it all in trusts and operate through trustees! Geezuz, anything for the gullible masses! Suck it up buttercups!
Again, this isn't the criminal case. This is the civil case. You can take me up on the wager here if you are really so confident.
Because he’s about to announce he’s running for president? The exact same reason she announced her little civil suit.
It isn't like this is the only civil suit against him, but this is the one he tried to settle before the suit even existed, so no, that desperate excuse doesn't fly. And it's hardly a "little" civil suit. If it succeeds, you will be on board the Trump pity party train claiming that he is being victimized.
Good luck getting a judge to draw an adverse inference in a civil suit while there’s a criminal investigation open against the same man by the same AG.
See above. If you are so confident, you shouldn't have a problem taking me up on my friendly wager for charity. I gave you extremely generous odds. You'd be risking $5, nothing more.
Poor Crooked Donnie, he's already turned up the whine and sent out fund raising letters to the loyal gullible.
Because the court has discretion about whether or not to determine if there should be an adverse inference due to pleading the 5th in a civil trial. When a judge takes into consideration that this same prosecutions office is attempting to get him to answer these exact same questions in a criminal investigation I doubt you’re going to find they’re super amenable to allowing a prosecutor to subvert the 5th in such a manner.
There's nothing "subverting" about it. Trump and his family acknowledged that answering these answers truthfully would put them at risk of criminal prosecution. You can't factor that in for a criminal case. You can for a civil one.
The liberal wing nuts have been going after Trump since before the 2016 election and nothing has stuck. They have proven themselves to be the political incompetents that conservatives knew they were.
No because what you’re doing is essentially stating “you either put yourself at risk of prosecution and conviction by answering questions you have already pled the fifth on in a criminal investigation or you lose a civil lawsuit and we force you into bankruptcy because we are just going to assume you’re guilty for refusing to answer that exact same question in a civil trial.” You can’t do that lol Ofherwise what’s the point of the fifth? Every prosecutor would just ask you the questions they want to know, you would plead the fifth and then the prosecutor would sue you in civil court to force you to answer or go bankrupt.
Several civil cases have stuck against Trump. Hence why his fake "charity" that he stole from was dissolved. But if you are so confident, you can take me up on the friendly wager I've offered others.
Well look at you getting all worked up. I doubt the guy could afford the fine. His wealth is all tied up and not as easily liquid.
I'm sorry you disagree with how our laws work. But if someone admits that their truthful answer would put them at risk of criminal indictment, I don't see why that can't be considered in the civil case. Neither do our country's laws.
Not to mention how much he's overleveraged with debt. And being kicked out of doing business in New York would be a big blow.
Yes they do. They even protect against non-governmental punishments such as being disbarred automatically or losing your job.
