1) Get rid of the Senate filibuster so that a minority of Senators can not use long speeches to prevent a gun control proposal from being voted on. "NRA-backed members of Congress continue to use the procedural filibuster to block solutions to end bloodshed — like expanded and strengthened background checks on gun sales. This is a common-sense solution supported by the majority of Americans, including gun owners." https://www.bradyunited.org/program/democracy/end-the-filibuster 2) Grant statehood to the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Four new Democrat members would likely be added to the Senate and Puerto Ricans would be able to vote in presidential elections. 3) Increase the number of Supreme Court justices. Such action could dilute or even reverse the current conservative bias in the court.
Why don't the Democrats just declare a dictatorship, ignore laws, and issue decrees that give them their way? It would seem to be simpler and take less effort just to declare a dictatorship than do these things.
Are there actually any bills to "strengthen" or "expand" background checks in Congress currently? If you think "universal" background checks are a solution you haven't been paying attention.
Being someone reported my post I will repeat the part that does not violate the rules. Nothing screams extreme about all your positions lmao 1- Diminish the minorities ability from being heard. 2- grant statehood to anyone liberal and deny anyone that’s conservative 3- let’s historically increase our judges because you can’t get your way against the constitution. The rest that did violate the rules I will not post but I will not apologize either and I’m sure whoever reported it knows my position and those who seen it prior
This thread should be more accurately titled... How authoritarian Democrats could tear up the Constitution and strip you of your rights. Just tell the truth and shame the devil.
"President Joe Biden challenged Democratic voters on Friday that if they elect at least two more senators in November elections, it would open the possibility of Democrats removing the filibuster and restoring federal abortion rights for women." https://www.reuters.com/legal/biden-suggests-support-filibuster-change-legalize-abortion-2022-09-23/ They need two more votes because only 48 out of 50 Democrat senators support ending the filibuster. If 50 senators voted to end it then the VP could vote to break the tie.
#1, #2, and #3 are not unconstitutional. Congress can grant statehood to US territories and set the number of Supreme Court justices. Laws should be passed if supported by a simple majority in both chambers in Congress and the president. That's what the US Constitution says.
To change the constitution to allow for gun control requires much more than a simple vote. The congress rather thinks it’s constitutional to infringe on what the constitution says shall not be infringed. Tench Coxe is quoted as saying the the federal nor state governments have the power to disarm the American public. That was a statement by a man that was a law graduate at the time of ratification. That says what that amendment truly means. This isn’t a matter that a simple majority can rule on.
The Supreme Court already ruled that abortion was historically a state issue and they will rule that way again if the federal government tries to impose on it again
So why did Biden say only two more Senators are needed? 48 out of 50 Democrat Senators support ending the filibuster.
what causes some on the left to be so hateful about gun rights? are they criminals or the friends of criminals and worry about being shot? that seems to be the only thing that could cause that level of hatred
I believe it's because they know their precious communist agenda can't move forward to total control as long as the populace is armed. Gun ownership is their single biggest obstacle. They know it and it really runs their fur the wrong way.
I'm glad I retired to Texas. No state income tax. No China Virus Mandate Tyranny. "Constitutional Carry". Heck, we don't even have deposit on cans and bottles. TEXAS! WHERE FREEDOM LIVES!
I think lots of Californian beta males are moving to Texas and want to bring their marxist politics there too
Its not constitutional carry, its permitless carry. Indiana has constitutional carry. Texas, where we mostly talk a real big game about freedom but really love the lash as much as california just in a different way.
Here in Texas, any legal gun owner can carry open or concealed. There are exceptions like hospitals, but they are few. No permit is required. No license is required. One of the reasons I left California was its Draconian gun laws. Permits for concealed carry were almost impossible to get. Here in Texas none are required. Every time you buy ammo in CA now, you must have a background check. Such silliness is unheard of in Texas.
