Thanksgiving canceled? Liberals who say America's holiday promotes genocide and White supremacy

Not from Biden, ands they were talking points to respond in case some RWNJ uncle starts a conversation.

On my Thanksgiving article from NewsMax, the lefties there certainly waged culture war on Thanksgiving and called it the same exact things the Fox article described. My article was simply an overtly pro Thanksgiving one and the left here acted just like this article here said that they would.

 

We just spent a lovely afternoon with 7 very lefty friends. We ate all the things, laughed, celebrated and said what we are thankful for.

I just confirmed with my husband, we heard no complaints about white people. Even the two black people there did not complain about white people.

One was raised JW, so is not yet used to Thanksgiving. It was her third one.

The first Thanksgiving was actually quite a referendum on leftist crap.

So when the pilgrims settled here they had a rule. They all collectively grew crops and raised animals and everybody shared in the consumption equally. You know socialism. It didn't work because the pilgrims we're starving by around this time of year when in their part of the country they couldn't grow anything. So the native tribes who were never at war with the pilgrims has sympathy on them and have them food. The socialists had to be rescued by people that weren't socialist.

That's the primary reason they hate the holiday.

There is also the idea of being thankful and showing gratitude. The pilgrims clearly thanked the Indian tribes for rescuing them but they also thanked God. That's right this secular holiday has roots in Christianity.

Gratitude is something self entitled brats do not like to do. And there seem to be a lot of those these days. I was once but I grew up. I'm thankful for getting the opportunity to grow up. I'm embarrassed for these adult babies. How sad.

 

It can be argued that they are partially socialist. Nobody is allowed to hoard resources, for example. We could learn from them. They are a democracy that does not let tribe members exploit other tribe members.

 

So where did the talking point list come from?

It was completely collectivized food production that is socialism and it was a bad idea even before it had a name. This was in the 17th century and socialist regimes are still having the exact same problem.

The thing to learn is socialism=starvation. The Indians didn't practice that.

 

They aren’t Indians. They come from India. The natives absolutely did not allow exploitation. They shared resources. Look it up.

They even shared with the settlers, who were completely starving by Thanksgiving. The natives took pity and provided welfare to the immigrants.

 

They are American Indians. They call themselves that. I don't care if it bothers you.

well yeah they shared resources mostly through a bartering system. Not through socialism if they did we wouldn't be talking about them because they would have starved to death thousands of years ago.

I already said that. Helping people in need isn't the same as socialism. Nether is welfare.

 

They can whine and cry about it all they want but Thanksgiving tradition is going nowhere.

 

Actually there were the Wampanoag. And people from this area used something called wampum which were beads made out of seashells they had a ceremonial use but they were also used as currency.

 

I hear that Elizabeth Warren funded her campaign with them. Lol

Nobody is whining and crying about it! Ok maybe a few extremists but this whole thread (from last year) is a RWNJ hoax with only one purpose: to create a perceived “wrong” as another excuse to hate liberals and divide the country.

News flash: most Democrats celebrate Thanksgiving just as much and patriotically as most Republicans.

Of course there are fringe elements on both sides, but the theme of this thread is an ugly hoax.

 

It's not a hoax because there are kooky liberals every year that say the same damn thing.

Have you actually met a democrat or progressive who has something against thanksgiving? I have not, and I doubt I ever will. You are being played by the media. Its typical of FOX to try to argue liberals in general hate thanksgiving. Most people see right through the BS, but apparently the neo-con posters here bought the line.

Just an update, thanksgiving wasn’t cancelled for me. Was it for anyone?

 

1) LOL, and true! They did not tolerate anyone who didn't earn their keep. As in all primary societies, the lazy threaten the whole group. Having to carry extra weight means ultimately no one survives.

2) Also true. Anyone who thinks welfare is socialism is nuts. They couldn't possibly be more different.
