We all know who he is. A member of the Oath Keepers who participated in the failed coup. The guys who had a cache of guns off site in order to take the Capital by force.

    Rot in hell, bro.

Stewart Rhodes, the leader of the far-right Oath Keepers militia, and one of his subordinates were convicted on Tuesday of seditious conspiracy as a jury found them guilty of seeking to keep former President Donald J. Trump in power through a plot that started after the 2020 election and culminated in the mob attack on the Capitol.

But the jury in Federal District Court in Washington found three other defendants in the case not guilty of sedition and acquitted Mr. Rhodes of two separate conspiracy charges.

The split verdicts, coming after three days of deliberations, were nonetheless a victory for the Justice Department and the first time in nearly 20 trials related to the Capitol attack that a jury decided that the violence that erupted on Jan. 6, 2021, was the product of an organized conspiracy.

Seditious conspiracy is the most serious charge brought so far in any of the 900 criminal cases stemming from the vast investigation of the Capitol attack, an inquiry that could still result in scores, if not hundreds, of additional arrests. It carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

Does this mean right wing militia nutjobs will change their ideology? No. But hopefully it means they will harmlessly play army with their guns and camouflage gear out in the woods and think twice before breaking the law while acting like traitors.

Hopefully but I doubt it. This is more of the Orange Stain’s legacy: all that was slimy and evil was welcome to slither out into the open during his administration. Steve Bannon’s appointment was the clearest invitation to all those “fine people”.

They should have known better than trying to “protest while Republican”. Do stupid things and bad things happen.
They should have known better about our rigged and biased system. Stuff like this is exactly why I stay registered as a democrat.

This was a trial with a prosecutor, a defender, a judge and a jury. It is hard to see this as rigged and biased. How did you reach this conclusion?

I reached this conclusion due to many other riots with lots of violence and buildings being set on fire and beatings and hardly any trials or media coverage.
The double standard cannot be denied.
If they wanted to be fair to the Jan 6th offenders they would go after the ones that went inside for trespassing and then big charges for the ones that crushed the officer to death.
But we know that isn’t how it works in left wing benefitting biased system
I don’t need you to justify it to me either. No judgement here. If the system was rigged in favor of my side I most likely would not call it out either.

So the only way its not rigged is if there's a verdict you like. Got it

well do you think that laughably light sentence on the disbarred attorney who violated several felony statutes when throwing a molotov cocktail into a police car will deter the woke rioting types? It is fun watching the far left scream about being traitors to a country they have hated for decades

Duh ... THIS riot occurred on the grounds of the Nation's Capitol, during the final vote count of Electors by Congress and you're SURPRISED
that there were far more cameras, news crews, and media coverage than other riots? We literally had the second and third in line for the
the top spot in the Nation's government doing duck and cover drills and you can't understand why there might be more coverage?

    Really?

    Really?

    Really?

    WTF... just plain old WTF.

that makes absolutely no sense but I applaud your consistency. The fact is, the left has acted like the 1/6 rioters engaged in worse damage to the USA than Pearl Harbor, 9-11 or the Covid epidemic while pretending that the BLM riots, murders and looting was at worst, understandable outrage about "racist cops" and at best, justified attacks on an unjust society.

Stacking a jury is usually an incredibly difficult and risky process. But in the case of prosecuting conservatives, apparently just holding the trial in a big blue city like DC will do the trick.

The problem with what you're saying is you refuse to accept the truth of any of it. OR, you see it differently depending on what position you're trying to support. For instance you think, when it suits you, that 1/6 was "trespassing", but other times acknowledge that it was definitely damaging to the Capitol and to our election system. You paint "the left" as damaging to These United States, but you can't even define what "the left" is; for you it's just an ambiguous receptacle for RW hate and blame de jure. You seem totally unaware the MOST of the BLM "riots" were instigated by RW anarchists and white supremacists attacking BLM demonstrators with the intention of making the demonstrations violent.

    The defense didn't object.
That is where the crime was committed.

Oh, so now it's "illegal" to conduct a jury trial where the alleged crime actually took place?

    Wow. This post is nuts.

Maybe they shouldn't have planned to attack the Capitol "while being Republican". And perhaps they shouldn't have committed sedition "while being Republican".

    Jesus.

Now we'll have to see what follows. Afterall, no one enters into a 'conspiracy' on their own. With whom were they conspiring?

No doubt the illusion created by Obama's election that US society had turned a corner relative to bigotry was shattered when the cretins emerged from hiding after the former Bigot-in-Chief was elected. They were excited to have someone on their side in the WH.

Maybe look it up? Maybe you should have followed the trial?

Or, you could just ignore the facts and refuse to follow the trial and ask basic questions to folks on an internet forum.

Easy Tiger! I'm simply stating that if he was found guilty of seditious conspiracy, we should be seeing more arrests and trials for those with whom he conspired.
