I can't provide a news link, but given this is the Christmas season I think this qualifies. Some stations have elected to play an edited version of the Christmas classic Home Alone 2 where the WTC towers are omitted. Others, like Disney+ have decided to play the film in its original format. The original is very powerful. Which version do you think should be aired?
I stayed one night in one of the Twin Towers back on the 1970's. Being from Atlanta it was my first trip to the big city. Funny how I'm still here and they're gone now. Who'd have ever thought it?
This pbs documentary on the towers and the attack is one of the most powerful pieces you will ever see. Everyone should watch this. Pbs New York: Center of the World. The series was already in production when the attacks happened then they added this last episode. Very powerful.
I grew up in Fort Lee, NJ, across the Hudson from NYC, and in many places, or at least back then, I could see the towers going up as they were being built. I never went to see them, being from the area I thought I had all the time in the world to eventually get to go inside. Then I got transferred to PR, the CA, and then the towers were gone along with the wife of a friend of mine. It's upsetting to me that some people, the people who promised never to forget, forgot.
Yeah, this "controversy" is from 2020... (That is when the linked article (below) was written)... Although Freeform (apparently) first aired the *edited* version in 2019: But one scene from "Home Alone 2" did not play in full on the Freeform channel, and it appeared to be cut in previous years' showings. It depicted Kevin on the "Top of the World" observation deck atop one of the World Trade Center's twin towers, which were destroyed nearly 10 years later in the 9/11 terrorist attacks https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/home-alone-world-trade-center/ As far as "Which version do you think should be aired"? 1) It is STILL available in it's ORIGINAL Form to stream on Disney+ 2) Freeform (or any other channel choosing to air the *edited* version) is free to do whatever they want. 3) Anybody who wants the Original can stream it or watch it on another platfirm... I don't see the problem...
