On the 10th of January Prince Harry's Autobiography "The Spare" will be on sale. And it is causing a scandal already now.
Little linguistic detail: All we know from that book as yet has been re-translated into Englisch from the copies in Spanisch. From the 10th of January 2023 on the book will be sold in the original English. Not that big differences can be expected, but some nuances may be different. Sometimes things can be "lost in translation", as we all know.
From what I have read just now in the German news magazine "DER SPIEGEL" - the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has now commented on this affair. I only have the German text. But I am sure the English text can also be found somewhere.
The media has been flooded with excerpts from the book. They all seem to make Harry look like a tool. It's amazing he would publicly humiliate himself now for attention, but I guess that's who he is now.
Most people deny any interest in THAT book. But I would not be surprised to read of loooooooooooong looooooooooooooong queues in front of bookshops in London tomorrow. And of the usual fans who spent all night camping in front of bookshops. Well well, we'll see - tomorrow then. ---------- Btw: I will not buy THAT book - let alone queue for it.
Never a news broadcast or media outlet this week without a long (sometimes day long) analysis of the bloody thing. You don't have to buy it. We know what is in it already. Unfortunately the contract with the publisher is for four books. One will be by Megan. What else can anyone say that hasn't already been said? Just fed up with the lot of them.
I saw it coming! https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/...le-interviews-midnight-openings-b1051829.html Selling Harry's book will start at midnight! At a ghostly hour.
What's happening here? A member of a royal familiy gets millions and mllions for betraying and attacking his own family. Isn't it a bit like this: In times of war a citizen of one country gets millions and millions for selling secrets to an enemy country? The German news magazine "DER SPIEGEL" has made a play of words about it and created the word "Hofverrat", modelled on the word "Hochverrat". To explain: Hochverrat = high treason Hofverrat then would be: royal court treason
Well it amounts to a convenient distraction from the evils of the totally verminous Conservative Party.
No long queues where I am. W.H. Smith is already selling it for 50 percent off, no takers when I was in the shop. Sainsburys is also selling it (for non-Brits, it's a grocery store) and no takers there. I walked right by with no inclination even to look at a few pages. I believe the only name change involved was that the Queen requested she go by 'Catherine' and not 'Kate' as Catherine is more formal.
