Why don't you go do that in front of (or inside) a mosque near you.

Too late. Turkey has been a member since 1953. Even Iran was out ally at that time.

If they beheaded that guy in public, i'm sure Erdogan would allow them to join NATO.

Erdogan plays both sides. He’s a Muslim with no allegiance to the Christian countries.

Interesting that you think religion has anything to do with it.

The burning of the Koran may have something to do with it.

Then they have learned some good lessons from our side :)

Turkey has been hedging this whole time ..
Turkey Doubles Russian Oil Imports, Betrays America
    https://www.thetrumpet.com/26037-turkey-doubles-russian-oil-imports-betrays-america

and CNBC certainly isn't going to throw much light on this situation .. Turkey being a bad actor of late .. working both sides of the fence ... who unlike the USA .. happens to share a border with Russia .. and access to a very important Sea .

Yeah well. The thing also is that they burned the Israeli flag there. And the government responded with that burning a flag of a country is racist. Frankly, that blows one mind how that is anywhere near the truth. While the koran burning was approved part of the protest by the government. The same government who is asking a MASSIVE favor from a country full of Muslims.

So sure. sure. Free speech and all of that.
But rubbing people the wrong way and still hope on a massive favor.
How about you go yell profanity at a neighbor and ask if you could borrow the lawnmower.
That too is free speech, but to expect you can borrow the lawnmower is just flat out a dumb assumption.

    Seriously.
Out of a Turkish perspective they want peaceful relations with their neighbors and do what is needed to make Turkey great again.
So it makes perfect sense they respond like that.

You seem to have this weird concept that independent nations must comply with American policies. How very neo-colonial.

Who are the terrorists, and who are the non-white people you are referring to?

Turkey doesn't care about a Koran burning. If you don't believe me, just check out the immediate spontaneous protests in Turkey. Oh wait, there weren't any.

Erdogan also objected to the Swedes allowing the Kurdish protest. And the Kurds are 98% Sunni Muslim. Turkey's objections are with Sweden's defense of the Kurdish independence element whom most Turks consider terrorists - not with some leftist politician mocking religion again.

Yes, there were protests and burnings of Swedish flags. Who told you there weren't any?

Turkish Muslims protest Quran-burning in Sweden

ISTANBUL (AP) — Outrage over a Quran-burning protest in Sweden produced a second day of protests in Turkey, reflecting tensions between the two countries.

Some 250 people gathered outside the Swedish Consulate in Istanbul, where a photo of Danish anti-Islam activist Rasmus Paludan was set on fire. Paludan burned Islam’s holy book outside the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm on Saturday, sparking protests in Istanbul and Ankara that night.

Participants in Sunday’s event carried green flags featuring the Islamic proclamation of faith and banner that said “We condemn Sweden’s state-supported Islamophobia.” A sign on a window of the Swedish Consulate read, “We do not share that book-burning idiot’s view.”

Neither spontaneous nor immediate. Also not representative of the Turkish people. 250 people in a city of 18 million in a government sanctioned event is not an immediate spontaneous protest, its stage-craft. They couldn't even convince everyone at the local mosque to attend.

And there were 100 peaceful counter-protestors. Tiny leftist militant anti-liberal elements in Turkey should not be encouraged by kowtowing to them.

This is about Turkey wanting to have a free hand with the Kurds. It's that simple.

I only looked it up to show that burning symbols that matter to NATO countries isn't something that prevents countries from being in NATO.

I didn't even remember this event, but i was sure it wouldn't be hard to find an example.

I'm sure i could find a more recent example if i looked harder, but i didn't care enough to look.

According to USA, UK,, turkey and EU, the pkk are a terrorist organisation. Sweden has given exile to pkk.

Terrorists also seek exile in a host nation that is hostile to the nation that deems them terrorists so they can't be extradited. Sweden therefore sees itself as hostile towards turkey for whatever reason. Maybe Swedes are islamophobes..

Except that there were no pending applications at the time, and except that Turkey has been in NATO since 1953, so they don't have to worry about it. Let's take an example which compares to what is happening now. Poland was in process of applying to NATO in 1990s, so it people in Poland had been burning Qurans at that time, do you think Turkey would have approved them joining? It doesn't matter what happened in Turkey at the time, but it matter what happens in the countries in process of applying for membership.

Turkey already offered them an absurd ultimatum, which they upheld, and Turkey still refused.

They are making a lot of money laundering Russian goods into Europe, no chance they allow membership.

You said something about whites and non-whites, but when it comes to Turks and Kurds, its impossible to tell them apart, so where is the racial angle?

Yea, I'm afraid they'll keep asking for more like extortionists always do and they'll come up with all kinds of excuses to justify it, and this idiot in Sweden just gave them a big one.
