I’m a Bears fan, but have mad respect for Sanders. I’m cheering for them this year. We Chicagoans always wished more for Barry. Go Lions!
49ers LOST as massive faves...19-17 to Browns... A bedshat for the ages... Missed 41 yd FG as time expired that would've won it... The 49ers are Overhyped Prideless Chokers who SUCK (Majorly)... What an embarrassment from the Niners, totally exposed. No depth at skill positions (Deebo and CMac go down and the offense folds like a cheap tent in a hurricane) bundled with a 2nd year QB who is a deer in the headlights and a rookie kicker who can't be trusted to hit a P.A.T. in a Youth League game--it is hard to imagine that some people were conned into thinking that the Niners had a chance to make the Super Bowl. Just wow. :smdh:
OMG! Did anyone else just see that totally bonehead move, by the Charger coach? After the QB Herbert had just scrambled for 9 1/2 yards-- on a fourth and less than a yard, they went for it, inside of Dallas's 7 yard line (good call) but went with a play action pass play (which was incomplete). There is no way they should have not been able to get 1/2 yard, on a QB sneak. Then you'd have 4 shots, from the 6 yard line-- ridiculous call!
Really heads-up play by the Cowboys QB Prescott, & his fullback, Pollard, to start the fourth quarter. On a third & 11, Prescott's pocket collapsed, so he needed to scramble. He escaped a sack, and began running for the yardage but, before he crossed the line of scrimmage, he spotted his RB, who'd bailed from pass defending for Prescott, and had found a little seam. So the QB just flipped him a short toss, for a 6 yard gain, then Pollard picked up the other 5 yards, before being wrapped up. But Pollard broke free, for what turned out being the Cowboy's longest gain this season, of 60 yards. This led to a Dallas TD, to break the tie game-- now 17 to 10, in LA. Pretty exciting game.
4th down for Chargers, at the Cowboy 1. Of course they're going-- down 17 - 10, with seven minutes to go in regulation play-- and a play action, roll to the right, leads to a TD pass, to tie it (w/ the good P.A.T.) at 17. Kind of am amazing stat: under this head coach, the L.A. Charges have gone for it, on 26% of their fourth down plays!
[gets on soap box.] It’s JA-gwaar It’s NOT JAG wire jag you R How do people get broadcasting jobs with such terrible grammar? [/soap box]
Lions are 8-2 and in second place in the NFC. Last couple of games have been nail biters, but they've won in the end. Go Lions! Win one before I die!
Damn! Best record so far since.. since.. ????... I'm looking this one up.... OK.. since 1953 (10-2) when they won the NFL championship (2nd of 3 in the decade)..
FWIW (is that a known abbrev. for "for what it's worth?")-- I think "jag you are," is the British pronunciation. I believe I've heard the the commercial for the car of that name, pronounced that way. (Then again, they also call soccer, "football," so...).
10-4 Lions. Seem to have recovered from some ugly weeks that nevertheless haven't hurt them too bad. Wife got me a t-shirt as a Detroit native transplanted to Virginia: Detroit vs. All Y'all. Seems appropriate.
The only question in my mind right now is whether or not anyone besides Lamar Jackson can stop the juggernaut in Baltimore?
Dolphins has AFC East until recently, and with all the injuries they might lose the game against Buffalo, and drop from #2 AFC spot to #6
Bad time to get the injury bug....and Chubb's got a torn ACL. Brutal - I was hoping to see the 'Phins make a deep run this year, but the wheels are falling off the wagon....
They lost Chubb, but also Xamien Howard (CB), so now they are very thin on defense, and the offense is even worse with the OL decimated, and Waddle out, Mostert out, and even Tua is questionable. Not only that, they are playing Buffalo and if they manage to win, they have to plan Buffalo again. If they lost this Sun, then it means 3 games on the road, but at least no BUF on 1st round, and I think they'd rather play anyone but them.
Bottom Line: IF the Super Bowl isn't Baltimore vs San Francisco... THEN The Ravens and Niners will be the 2 of the most prideless disgraces in sports history...
Alright! The Lions finish tied for the second best record in the NFL. Next Sunday they play the first NFL playoff game in Ford Field since it opened in 2002. They're playing the LA Rams whose quarterback, Matt Stafford, played 12 seasons for the Lions before being traded to LA for Jared Goff and immediately winning the Superbowl for LA. We still love Stafford in Detroit, but now he must die. This is immediately followed by Michigan, where I got my MBA in 1994, playing Washington for the college championship tomorrow night. Go Blue! If this continues this way, expect me to only be more insufferable than normal for a few months. Now, win one before I die!
Here's this weekend's slate of Wildcard games - Ravens and Niners got the bye: SATURDAY No. 5 Browns at No. 4 Texans; Saturday, 4:30 p.m. NBC No. 6 Dolphins at No. 3 Chiefs; Saturday, 8:15 p.m. Peacock (F a bunch of NBC for putting this on Peacock) SUNDAY No. 7 Steelers at No. 2 Bills; 1 p.m. CBS No. 7 Packers at No. 2 Cowboys; 4:30 p.m. FOX No. 6 Rams at No. 3 Lions; 8:15 p.m. NBC MONDAY No. 5 Eagles at No. 4 Buccaneers; 8 p.m. ESPN, ABC, ESPN2, ESPN+ Bold predictions, anyone? My two cents: Browns at Texans is a very intriguing matchup. Rookie sensation C.J. Stroud vs. Joe Flacco, who came off the couch to play for the Browns. Quite frankly, with all the injuries the Browns have suffered it's amazing they made it to the playoffs, but they've got a defense that can carry them deep and Flacco is a Super Bowl champion QB. The Texans are another surprise, and they've got this game at home. Tough game to call - could go either way - but I'm leaning towards the Browns. Dolphins at Chiefs is another tough game to call. The Dolphins are beat up bad and the Chiefs' WRs might be the worst in the NFL. Mostert and Waddle are Questionable, Howard is Out. Right now, I'm skeptical the 'Phins are healthy enough to win this game, so I'm leaning Chiefs. All-Pro Bad Man Chris Jones said this game could be his last game at Arrowhead, and I suspect it is. Steelers at Bills - The Steelers could be a tough matchup for the Bills, and if Josh Allen starts turning the ball over anything can happen. That being said, I'm all over Josh & Co., which could set up another matchup with KC in the Divisional round. This year, Buffalo might finally get over the hump. Packers at Cowboys - Easiest pick of the weekend. Cowboys roll at home. Rams at Lions - Intriguing matchup at QB, with Stafford and Goff going up against their former teams, and All-World DT Aaron Donald is coming to town, Lions fans. Lions are 3 point favorites, and that's some pretty solid chalk, but this game could go either way, too. My gut says Lions at home in a close one. Eagles at Buccaneers - WTF is up with the Eagles? Their defense has been a disaster, so unless Hurts is healthy and has a huge game the Eagles are going down again. Right now, they can't seem to beat anybody, and the Bucs have won five of their past six, so while the Eagles could win this game, I'm not sure the burning train wreck in Philly can overcome all its problems on the road in Tampa Bay on Monday. I hope Baker Mayfield has a huge game, although the Bucs will probably be better off pounding the rock in this one. Since I'm rooting for the Bucs I'll go with the sympathy pick.
My 2 cents...... Browns 24 Texans 17 Chiefs 20 Dolphins 28......I don't hate the Chiefs, but I like the Phins.....hopefully it's their time. Bills 31 Steelers 28......I'm not a fan of either, but Bill's get this one? Packers 17 Cowboys 38......I was born and raised briefly in Wisconsin ...so Packers are my team, Cowboys are too tough for them this time though. Rams 21 Lions 30.....Detroit takes this? Eagles 28 Bucs 24.....? Who knows.....
So, Miami Dolphins have to play in KC which is expected to be the coldest NFL game played in NFL history, -6F. https://www.facebook.com/reel/352108527532581
Good night, hot house flowers. Then again, those cold hard balls will be bouncing off the hands of KC's WRs all night long. What's the Over/Under on Mahomes slamming his helmet to the ground?
