In 2020, most people (and polls) assumed that Georgia would land in the Trump column. The results were staggering to Trump, and he resorted to alleged illegal actions, and he is now facing charges for election interference. Some of the current polling show Biden within 4% of Trump in Texas. Who would have thought? Texas has always been a red state, and usually an extreme red state. In the last few elections, it has been shown as a pink state. Some liberal analysts believe it may start becoming a swing state. If Texas liberals can coalesce a grassroots movement to "Get out the vote", similar to the movement organized by Stacy Abrams in Georgia, Texas could turn quickly. https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/texas-georgia-elections-democrats/ Texas at the start of this decade is actually even more promising than Georgia was at the start of the last decade. The Lone Star State has the second-largest pool of nonvoting people of color of any state in the country (second only to already-blue California), and the number of potential voters of color far exceeds the margin of difference in statewide elections. Joe Biden lost Texas by 631,221 votes, and despite the record turnout on both sides, 4.5 million eligible people of color still did not vote... Based on the math, you can see why some Liberal analysts are thinking "Georgia on my Mind". What's at stake? Texas has 40 electoral votes, second only to California. Add up the electoral votes of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Nevada, and they're equal to 40. Texas would be a huge game-changer.
I know you Democrats are dreaming of it. In the short run the border mess is not helping you cause. Decent Texans are sick of it. Originally you thought the immigrates would be new Democrat voters in Texas, but they have been moving north. And your voter fraud operation (euphemism “Get out the vote”) in Texas is not that robust, yet. The 2024 election does not look good for you. Later, as you brainwash future generations in the schools, you will probably win. You will also be able to buy the illegal vote. So, long term it’s looking good for you.
Any illegal immigration and border drug trafficking in 2024 is the fault of Donald Trump. He is the "commentator" in this video depicting James Lankford's Senate bipartisan bill. The sooner that Texans realize that, the sooner they'll realize who is at fault. The commentator.
the black vote changes everything, the biggest thing Trump fears is the black vote gets out and votes
What has the Democrat Party done for Blacks? Here’s a short list: crappy intercity schools because the teachers’ unions are more important than the kids. High crime spurred up by defund the police. High crime because of woke, George Soros sponsored DA who won’t prosecute even violent criminals. High crime which ruins neighborhoods because of no bail laws. More competition for lower skilled jobs because of immigration spurred on by open borders. Getting thrown under the bus because the Black vote is taken for granted when illegal immigrants and the LGBQ+ community is deemed a higher priority. A great many minority men and Hispanics are not supporting the Democrat Party because it no longer cares about their interests and are taking them for granted. You can ignore that fact, but it’s the truth.
same as me, it's not about Biden, it's about Trump, if Trump was not on the ticket, I prob would not of bothered voting
Shelia Jackson Lee isn't mayor of Houston so really the black vote means nothing in the whole state of Texas vote.
I wasn't aware of the history, as I don't follow Houston politics closely. So I looked it up. Evidently Sheila Jackson Lee lost her run for mayor, and then won a US Congressional Seat from a Houston district. Correct? I would ask two questions. First, doesn't current Mayor John Whitmire encourage all his citizens to "get out and vote"? Second, does it take a mayor to organize a get-out-and-vote campaign, or can others spearhead it? I would guess the Dems are investing a lot of money, as we speak, on grassroots campaigns in Houston.
I would encourage everybody to vote, regardless of the candidates. That said, I believe that Trump brings out a lot more voters, because of all his hate rhetoric.
Trump's hate rhetoric? You mean like calling half the US population "deplorables"?? Wait... a Democrat said that.
Not sure what you're talking about, because you provided no link. If it's comments about MAGA extremists, that's only about 1/3 of America. Still a sad number. But I may be overstating it. According to this article, 1/3 is too high. https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-pr...ent-widely-unpopular-new-poll-finds-rcna81200 The Make America Great Again, or ‘MAGA,’ movement, which takes its name from Trump’s first campaign slogan, was the least popular individual or group tested in the new survey. Just 24% of Americans have positive views of the movement, while 45% voice negative views.
People that want to make America great again, can hardly be called extremists. I yearn for the days when American goods ruled the global economic stage (after WWII when the US really had the only functional industrial economy). I miss the days when our enemies thought better than to attack us. I wish we still had a society devoid of "flash mobs" and could still have shelves in Walgreens that allowed you to select goods off shelves freely rather than be required to seek out an employee to unlock the cages covering the shelves. I wish we could let our kids play freely in the neighborhood without supervision, secure in the knowledge that they would be safe, as it was when I was growing up. I miss the days when we had secure borders like every other sovereign nation. I miss all these things that once made America great. I hardly think that makes me an "extremist".
Uh-huh, and Trump talks about that all the time? I hear things like "Grab-em by the Kitty cat", and "How's Paul Pelosi doing now?", and "I'm your retribution", and "I'm going to jail the liberal media". Those are just off the top of my head. If I Googled "Trump Hate Quotes", it would probably be the volume of an encyclopedia set.
You get what you give. Did you follow the conduct of Adam Schiff during the Trump administration? Schiff has as much hate in his heart as any politician. He's no different from the Joe McCarthy who made life miserable for many people in the 1950s before he crashed and burned, cira 1957.
No one can deny Trump has a big mouth. I sure don't. But I can live with his superfluous verbal diarrhea when his ACTIONS give us cheaper gas, lower inflation, no new wars, more secure borders, the Abraham Accords, the decline of ISIS, the elimination of Solimene, and all the rest.
Not at all. Again you're deflecting all of Trump's criminal actions onto others. When will the MAGA extremists ever realize that Trump brought all this on. Not Adam Schiff, not Joe Biden, not Liz Cheaney, not Mitt Romney....
If the Democrats had not starting attacking Trump as soon as he took the Oath of Office, things could have been different. The Democrats will do the same to any Republican president. They have learned they can get away with it, and their childish supporters think it's cool. Have you listened to Democrat politicians, like Maxine Waters, tell their supporters to yell at the Republican office holders with whom they disagree in public? Some Democrats have a childish mentality.
What do you mean by "all this"???? Inflation? No, that was Biden with his War On Oil: - Biden’s War on Oil Hits Consumers - WSJ - Consumers Pay The Price As Biden’s War On Oil And Gas Expands (forbes.com) Open borders? Sorry, that's all on Biden. Weaker military? Again, that's Biden. So what do you mean by "all this"???
I'm deflecting a damn thing. Adam Schiff is a demagogue who should be voted out of office. He brings nothing the table, nothing. You can hurl all the insults you want. Adam Schiff is evil.
Well you've gone from "walking in the park without getting mugged" to "cheap gas". Personally I don't think "cheap gas" is in America's best interest. We should be weaning ourselves off fossil fuels. Not just for climate issues, but also for our long-term economic viability. The Bakken reservoir, which was the temporary reason that America's gas prices went down so low, under Obama and Trump, are becoming harder and harder to extract, to the point where we are now an oil importer again. It is not in America's interest to continue to be one of the highest per capita users of this resource.
Ask a dad trying to count pennies to get to work and still feed his family whether "cheaper gas" is a good idea. Ask a family that buys goods from a company that has to raise its prices because their products are costing more to get to market. due to increased fuel prices. Ordinary folks just want to feed their children and keep them warm in winter. They want to save the world like you do... but not at the expense of watching their kids go hungry or shiver in the night. And those kids are hungry and shivering in the night "right now".... "long term viability" just can't compete with the scream of a hungry child.
What actions? The man is so lazy he would buy an iron lung if he thought it would save the effort of breathing
Some people definitely enjoy cheap gas more than others. Those using mass transit don't necessarily think that oil and automobile mobility subsidies (military escorts for oil tankers from across the globe, road taxes, etc) are a good idea. I could go on, but we're getting off-topic. Another thread maybe...
