I disagree. Look at the response after 9/11. The U.S. didn't back down at all.....it started two wars and shot Osama Bin Laden in the face in the middle of the night. Yes, we're overindulged, greedy, and often ignorant of the harsh realities of the world. But we're also extremely competitive and innovative, and still possess the "cowboy" attitude that Europeans loath.

I am an American. I have lived most of my life in America. I lived for several years in China. I have worked with and for thousands of Chinese people in America. I have noticed that in many ways Americans and Chinese are quite similar.

There's obviously a great deal of mind games going on between the East and West.

I notice each year, in March i believe the Chinese release details of their defence budget for the forthcoming year to the world.........and a few days later the Americans come back and say they cant afford all that equipment on that budget, and come up with their own figure of the Chinese defence budget, which is quite substancially more.

It is true that Europeans do still think of Americans as cowboys......but at least these days you dont wear those hats!

I dont quite agree with the poster who said Americans and Chinese are alike.
Maybe nowadays with their growing affluence the Chinese are becoming a more materialistic society...but culturally, theres a big difference.

Bin Laden accomplished his objectives more thoroughly than he or we could ever have imagined. Look at the country today. Bin Laden triggered events that will reverberate into the future.

Not quite. AQ has been crippled and the U.S. is chugging along, albeit slowly. I don't underestimate his influence on world events, but I don't think he came anywhere near accomplishing what he wanted.

This is not a court of law. You asked me to explain my conclusions and I told you. Do you have comparable experience that tells you otherwise?

That makes no sense on at least two levels. Don't advertise your ignorance.

I'am not ignorant, but you dont' express your reasons for your views, if you have done so in the past then OK, but i'am not the only one here asking you to clarify your position.

    Thanks :)

There is nothing about my screen name that suggests 'Chinese,' and you seem to have overlooked post #227.

I have read your post no 227, but you never did explain to us in what way the indigineous Chinese people are similar to the indigineous peole of the USA.

Can you answer your next post with at least more than 6 words......Thanks.

Like Americans, Chinese tend to be (in general) generous, patriotic, optimistic, excitable, practicle, and opportunistic.

Make a note of your ignorance there. You couldn't even spell it the same way in reference.

"Sensei" is a Japanese word which means "Teacher".

    It is not Chinese.
