I agree. I try to remind myself of this along similar lines when going through one of life's bad spells. Even if you find yourself completely destitute here in the U.S., there is some sort of assistance out there for you. Even our homeless have it better than the common people of some nations.
Theres a lot of different scenarios. Weve got a great union. Theres absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and were a pretty independent lot to boot. Rick Perry
Bill Maher is living, breathing testimony to the fact that Liberals CANNOT argue on the merits thru debate. So they use rancor and often extreme hyperbole to simply denounce, and ridicule those to' which they haven't the courage to take on in healthy debate. Every time Maher appears on O'Reilly,Bill turns him into instant Assklown meat. Some might ask,why would a Maher or a Jon Stewart even appear on O'Reilly ?.Because O'Reilly worked at both CBS and ABC and as host of the first edition of " Inside Edition ".
Do you have an argument to make? Evidence to present to support this conclusion? I don't know that I disagree with you, but you have done nothing to convince me(a person who is sympathetic), this certainly isn't going to convince anyone else who isn't.
"I would warn Orlando that you're right in the way of some serious hurricanes, and I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I were you, This is not a message of hate -- this is a message of redemption. But a condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation. It'll bring about terrorist bombs; it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes, and possibly a meteor." Pat Robertson, on "gay days" at Disneyworld I included him as he was a Republican presidential candidate. There were so darn many to choose from, though. This was tough!
''What would your response be if I asked you to remove some books from the collection?'' Sarah Palin, inquiring with Wasilla librarian Mary Ellen Emmons about banning books right after taking office in 1996 Again, very hard to be selective with this all-star!
''American scientific companies are cross-breeding humans and animals and coming up with mice with fully functioning human brains.'' Christine O'Donnell, discussing cloning with Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly, 2007 An all time favorite!
Well it is a bit delusional that he graduated from Harvard and doesn't know that corpsman is pronounced core man
I don't know anyone who has won the lottery. I know literally 50 millionaires and multi millionaires. If you are talking about billionaires, then you are probably right, but being worth a few million these days is really accessible. Hell, there is a guy in my investment group that was homeless at 26 and now owns a 75 acre horse farm, but he works at some income stream or another about 80 hours a week. Being in the top 20% is good enough for me, and anyway, playing the lottery is a horrible investment. They may not be where they want to be, but no doubt about it, there are fewer poor people from bad luck than there has ever been wealth accumulation by the wealthy from good luck. Most often behavior that renders bad results as far as material wealth is repeated. Never underestimate the ability to deflect blame from routine behavior fostered by years of interaction with loved ones with the same behavioral infliction.
Aint that the truth.... And your right,,everybody has a different ''TOP'',,,,I did very well financially and as time passed my ''TOP'' became different... Some peoples Top is having the money and time to travel, I have a friend that goes to the Orient four times a year, they love the food and sites, I hate traveling...Some people love race horses,,others farm horses, there is obviously a world of difference in the cost, but if a farm horse turns you on,,then that's it,,right?, no matter how much you have. To me it's Golf and fishing at the Lake with my friends, I could afford a huge boat,I had one,,,,but interests change. So ''TOP'' is a very relative thing...
What about the 57 states comment.I mean talk about being out to lunch.Let's not forget all the dopey stuff Obama has said and this Corrupt,State run media refuses to make publc. Luckily we have his " Clinging to their guns comment " directed at those in the Rust Belt area and his advice to those who supported him in his campaign " They bring a knife, you bring a gun ". Which even Chris Matthews had to overtly lie about last night when brought up by a Republican Pundit.Matthews casually dismissing as if merely a line out of a movie.
I simply responded to the request for delusional quotes from the right, which I was told I could not find. Would you agree I put that challenge to rest? If not, defend the quotes I've posted. If not, simply congratulate me. Goodnight.
Actually it's completely different. The fact that you can't tell the difference does not reflect well on your understanding of the world.
Maher says stuff to inflame and enrage. To be cutesy. But never cutesy at the expense of any Liberal or Democrat.Only Conservatives or Republicans.Which is the very defintion of a Partisan hack. But Maher like Moore is far more than merely a hack. He's a paid shill for Democrats. They'll be a day,not too far off when he's so in the minority I doubt he could fill a parking lot at the nearest fruit stand.
I happened to catch the segment of the program the OP is referencing, and to keep it in context, Bill Maher (if I remember correctly) was responding to comments being made about the creative ingenuity of younger enterpreneurs and how the next big idea is only a thought away... which brought on the "which is like hitting the lottery... yes you can win, but the odds are incredibly minimal", and to some degree I'd have to agree with that. Most of us would love to think of the next boom or (to borrow a line from "The Social Network") the "next once in a lifetime holy (*)(*)(*)(*) idea"... how's that coming? That's not to say it can't be done, but good luck and effort be yours.
That's exactly in context of what he said, as you just described. You'd think everybody becomes a millionaire if you listen to the goofs on the right (or watch Fox). When people like Boehner, gurgle on using the pharse "The American people" wants this or want that, he's referring to other millionaires, NOT the majority at large. Nobody calls him on it though, and it plays because the "American people" (the actual majority, rather than the top 2% of the population) are too busy watching "Watch me dance", (or whatever the hell the name latest empty headed nonsense that appeals to the mass ignorant is). Right wing corporate rapists hope they keep watching though.
OH ! fer cryin out loud, when were you born, last night. Maher doesn't say stuff to be accurate.Or even honest. He says stuff to appease/arouse other Libs. He's easier to figger out than a Fig Newton.
He's a sensationalist... no doubt about it. I'd rank him right alongside the likes of Ann Coulter. However, what he said (taking context into account) isn't inflammatory to me. I actually think it's pretty realistic.
