He/she made some points, but the stark reality is this: The amount of wealth in the hands of a few, IS indeed perverting/corrupting democracy in this nation. Money has always had an influence throughout history, but when imbalances (between the poor/wealthy) as we see today occur... it has never been a good thing. Wall Street did not police itself, and many who are up there complaining that they're being complained-about... caused the extreme imbalances which are threatening this very society. Again, I believe the person(s) who authored that anonymous letter have made some points, but there is another side to consider and regard. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htX2usfqMEs&feature=player_embedded"]This Is Also Truthful[/ame] One thing is certain (in my view)... the rich and the poor are in all of this together.
Great letter, and I would love to see one of those liberal rag stations like MSNBC's Chris Matthews show have a common sense Conservative read that letter aloud on his show so as to get feedback from whatever liberal weenie he just happens to have there at the time. I couldn't help but think about our Constitution while reading that letter. Great posting!
But to imply that is all that needs to be addressed or regarded... is just a lopsided view. Wall Street isn't exactly 'innocent' you know.
Hey, we're all sinners...well at least all of us Christians know that we're sinners, so with that understanding, how or why would anyone want to destroy or rail against a system that made America great in the first place? I don't see what solutions or alternative methods of deployment the OWS crowd is offering....do you?
People are imperfect; Wall Street proves that readily. Stop with the 'mantra'. Please. I know YOU believe what you do, but others differ. America and its GREED, isn't something I see as leading to 'greatness'; prosperity garnered through greed, is something I see as a polished turd... something essentially specious. We aren't going to prosper any further, by furthering greed (at any level); we keep that up and we're done. And worshiping money/power, will be the END of us as well. Wake up! You keep saying that, while Rome burns around you. The answer is providing the masses of people FAIRNESS and reasonable opportunity (not a hand-out). If we keep going as YOU and those blinded by MONEY suggest... we're done period.
SO you are claiming the people now demonstrating all had stock options and 401k's? This is simply an excuse. "We made money not just for ourselfs but also for others" . The problem isnt that the market dropped the problem is that they in there greed for quick profit didnt actually think about the clients anymore but just about themselves. I worked (IT) at a private banking firm and they knew perfectly well what was going on but didnt care as long as it was long enough in the future and they didnt have trouble with it. For that person, I didnt see him complain when the gouvernement helped out the financiel industry, now that the gouvernement wants help its "tough luck find somebody else"?
Sorry for you that what you see as 'greed' is what I and most other reasonable Americans see as an American initiative and God-given right to be energetic, successful, resourceful and thrifty. The fact that you have a problem with 'greatness' and 'success' speaks volumes as to why you and the obama types hate America and hate our success as a nation. You should go on a foreign apology tour with your messiah. And what pretell would you suggest America do in order to live up to your specific standards or plan for America to prosper...if prosperity is what you want for America? You and your lib buddies have zero solutions to helping America prosper, or in helping America retain or regain its greatness. All I see from your ilk is whining, street protests, class warfare, laziness, unemployed whiners, thieves via wealth redistribution and a need to collectivize a bunch of these misfits into one huge melting pot of un/anti-American dissidents. I don't see Rome burning. I see a bunch of welfare leech losers in society upset because their big daddy supporters, i.e. tax payers are getting sick and tired of feeding these dropouts. These OWS types don't want to work, they want to keep drawing bennies on the sidelines without lifting a finger.
Actual conflict between elites and the oppressed workers usually goes poorly for the elites once the workers get organized. As in firing squad badly.
Mark Cuban on how useless Wall Street is these days: http://articles.businessinsider.com/2011-08-09/wall_street/29987481_1_traders-wall-street-hackers
Yeah, the OP implies that they were simply "gambling" and winning for awhile. What they don't indicate is that they all played with 15 cards up their sleeves and no accountability for the abhorrent cheating and "should have been" illegal investment practices they made WITH OUR MONEY. Ponzi schemes aside, the derivative market should NEVER have been allowed and those gamblers tried to bet everything on fake gains and artificial earnings, all of which should be illegal and should land that scum in jail. To defend it by claiming that "now we're going to make you suffer because we screwed you out of your money and got caught" makes me want to vomit.
I think it's really strange that libs want to knock wall street down a notch but aren't actually willing to do it. Ending the fed and legal tender laws ends their money monopoly, but libs would never think of taking away wall streets ability to print its own paycheck. What libs really want is a piece of the action for themselves through redistribution at gun point. Ew, sick.
