If you are not a liberal, what do you consider yourself? Your postings seem very liberal.

Yes, we do. We're not all a bunch of redneck FOX drones. Do you think idiots and rednecks and religious freaks can run the successful businessness in this nation?

You forget we went to college to, only we went to business schools or put our selves through night schools while holding down full time jobs, or we were trained through intensive work training programs. You don't climb to the middle and upper midmanagement levels in this country as a dumbass man.

This against the "liberal intellectual powerhouse" that only 3 years ago had suppsedly established social Democracy once and for all. The American People have an instinctual defense mechanism for Capitalism and when you roll against it in a violent manner, they will get pissed and send the dogs of civil order out to chase off troublemakers.

70% of the OWS platform is flat out Unconstitutional and cannot be granted no matter what!

How long are we supposed to put up with our parks and downtowns held hostage by a bunch of feral teenagers when our Government's hands are tied on virtually all the agenda the OWS wants?

Out of the other 30% of the OWS protest complaints, antoher 20% I'd say may be Constitutional, but could cause severe economic damage to our country even further.

The other 10% America agrees with, breaking down big banks into well managed chunks that can be easily watched and regulated.

These kids are way off base and all the propaganda flowing out from the Faculty Lounges and Union Halls throughout the Country can't change plain, raw facts and numbers that can be easily found on the internet.

Liberalism is financially destroying the Country by making a bad situation worse.

In other words, a modern liberal.

I don't blame you for not wanting to identify yourself as a liberal. ;)

This is why no one likes the police; ones like these give all the others a bad reputation.

I didn't use any of those terms.

Good for you. Every single person that I know, myself included, worked full time during college, sometimes to the point that we had to sacrifice valuable time that could have been spent studying (or getting a full 6 hours sleep), so your experience is in no way unique.

I don't understand what point you are trying to make here. Who made such claims? As to the American defense of capitalism -- Of course Americans do, mostly older Americans who were brainwashed during the red scare and the cold war. But the destruction of capitalism has nothing to do with it. An over-reaching government that is in bed with the wealthiest handful of Americans is the problem.

Nothing they are doing is unconstitutional. That's ridiculous. The constitution serves to protect the rights of the people, not the state. Although yes, in some protests there have been unlawful elements and predatory crimes.

Until the protesters tire of protesting. It is their right to assemble and express themselves. It is YOUR right as well, don't forget. And if they take away that right, it is the duty of responsible citizens to realize that the oppression of assembly and free speech is the end of the Republic, which renders all laws, and the government whose social contract we accepted, null and void.

You are right about this, but then, so are the Republicans. This is not a point lost on most protesters. You think nobody understands that the system is corrupt? That is a main part of the reason that people in all walks of life are rising up. Even if they don't have an economics degree or have a 300k job a year, they can perceive that the system is not working, and they are tired of being punished for working hard and living ethically, and treated as a parasite when in reality the parasites are in Washington and Wallstreet!

No, nothing like a modern liberal, because I believe in as minimal government as possible, an end to the prison state, an end to the military industrial complex and a bottom up creative revolution against wage labor and toward an interconnected confederacy of democratic localities.

But I suppose on some issues I feel that even though liberal politicians are not ethical, if they create something, even if it is out of pork barrel spending, that provides food to hungry children, then there is a good that comes out of the evil. The republicans simply represent empty slogans of freedom, but then their legislature creates more taxation, more government intrusion (ie getting tough on crime, abortions, anti-gay laws, etc) and the taking away of what little programs are successful in alleviating the consequences of poverty and marginalization.

I am like other libertarians in that I believe that government is not a good intermediary agent and that society should be based on voluntary interactions, but I disagree about the claims that the free market is the ultimate solution to life's problems.

No the Republicans aren't destroying the Country. The Republicans are all brand new freshmen in their first terms. There are very very few establishment Republicans left.

They are not corrupt, they sincerely believe, like most of the world does, that we should begin to engage in some serious austerity and pro-growth economic measures.

The Democrats refuse to budge on Austerity.

That is where the problem is. The Republicans have offered 500 billion in tax revenues, the Democrats have offered zip.

What foolishness. The parasites are the 47% that pay no federal income tax. The huge money drains are the democrat moocher systems of social security, medicare, and now Obamacare. We are overrun with parasites because Obama will not secure the borders or enforce the law. We are in a recesssion because liberals used FF to put parasites in houses, creating a huge inflationary bubble using taxpayer money, then the inflatinary bubble collapsed as it had to.

The problem is not capitalism. It is not Wall Street. Its liberals and all their moocher friends.

These specific parasites, as Whopper keeps trying to remind you, are the children of the people who pay most of the taxes, or are paying their own in order to attend UC Davis.

Every single thread concerning an OWS incident does not need to disseminate into the same thread stating opinions about the movement itself.

This was inappropriate action on the part of the CAMPUS police, who are charged with the PROTECTION of the students.

How many of them want to shut down military bases, release all prisoners who are incarcerated for victimless crimes, legalize all drugs (especially marijuana), repeal the very notion of liquor licenses, end corporate welfare/corn subsidies, etc? Hardly any or none.

And if we are going to keep the government as large as it is, and have a military the size we do, there is no possible way to fund it without additional taxation. Every service the government offers has to have some proportional fee or tax attached to fund that idea, or else the nation will go (further) into debt.

And yes, the democrats have made concessions toward pro-austerity measures since day one, and certainly since the republicans took control of congress. 500 billion is a drop in the bucket.

Hardly any or none? Do you have any evidence to support this assertion?

I'm probably as conservative as they come, and I'm down with all that. Although I would guess we may disagree on the definition of "victimless crime". We would probably also disagree on which bases, and how many to shut down.

And let me guess, you think people making 12k a year working in service, trades, etc should be taxed the same amount as someone who makes millions on hedge funds? And for your information, those poor CAN become productive members of society if they revolt and redefine their place in society. When the means of exploitation are overthrown, the people must no longer be subject to the humiliation of their own poverty. Never forget that.

Everyone pays into fica, and if you are self-employed, you pay double. So how can someone "mooch" what they have already paid for? And the argument is also flawed, because the money people paid toward the specific cause of social security has been appropriated for other uses meaning the government "mooched" the people's money. But it doesn't matter because I know the money taken out of my checks my whole life for SS will be long gone by the time I am of an age of eligibility. Which means I am being mooched off to support today's elderly, which honestly I don't care about, because I would never consider a program that helps my grandmother survive after working her entire life to be "mooching".

There is no point in securing the borders, Mexicans are voluntarily leaving in droves. I have read it in several articles and spoken to Hispanic friends in LA and Texas who confirmed this.

You are either being willfully dishonest right now or need to read a bit more about the 2008 subprime mortgage meltdown.

Are you aware that America spends hundreds of billions every year subsidizing corporations to create artificially low pricing financed by the taxes of middle class Americans? The problem IS corporate welfare and the government as a whole.

I know that in my own state, Rick Snyder and other conservatives worked very hard to repeal medical marijuana laws, that won by a popular vote. Overnight, Snyder and his colleagues shut down over 50 independently owned marijuana dispensaries in Lansing alone that were assisting in a revitalization effort to the area. Now there are 50 empty storefronts once again. And this isn't even counting the money that was being generated by local growers.

Once I see actual results instead of rhetoric from these politicians I may change my views on who is the lesser evil.

That's all well and good, but proves nothing. Who is shutting down medical marijuana in California? The federal government. Who is in charge of the federal government? Obama. Is Obama a conservative?

Besides, I thought we were talking rank and file conservatives, not politicians.

Yes, that is very true, and particularly enraging because Obama gave his word that the federal government wouldn't infringe on state legislature. Another broken promise.

Hmmm......watching the video and then seeing this excellent still, it does look like a bit of an over reaction.

Don't really see the context as the clip is short but seeing people simply sitting there while a cop casually walks up and down with no more stress than if he were watering the flowers.......is a bit much.

Another point is that it is a campus.....a venue where students are just as likely to be protesting the quality of lunch in the cafeteria...... It happens frequently.

That said, if the goal was to take those squatting out of the protest in as rapid and safe a fashion as possible........it was quite effective.
