It's called the Ethic of Reciprocity. More commonly known as the Golden Rule. Treat others as you would have them treat you. Pretty simple.

I think the anonymity does a lot to bolster peoples' extreme feelings. But it doesn't really matter.

There is you and there is me. That's all there is in life, essentially. And if we don't try to help each other, then we both are doomed. That's why I got into the medic business in the first place. After 10 months in Iraq, I have seen the worst and best of humanity. But in the end, each other is all we have. Peoples' lack of respect for this fact will be their own downfall.

I must go cheat and examine Leo's thread. "I'll be bahk!"

ps - don't let the mean people drag ya down! I wonder how bad it has to get here before the mod panel fires a few, and replaces with more, and more balance? THAT is what is needed.

I have been happily ensconced there for months, but not at all there this week. I can't seem to be both here and there at the same time. Some of the mods started up a place at http://www.indepolitics.com/ . I saw the link in SenaxFlatulus sig. I almost signed up, but didn't. JustOneMoreVoice has another forum that she's at with Ronin and some others, and AnitaMiracle is someplace else.

Are you the same name at DP?

LOL !!! I am going to use that 'trivial mind' line sometime. Just need to wait for the perfect occasion. ;)

Okay, I will admit to occasionally getting sick of it. He knows by now not to ask me if I know who this or that person is. Just tell me, already !! The history and science and oddball stuff always fascinate me, but the names - not so much. :ignore:

I am personally bad at trivia, but I love to hear it. Perfect match with the hubby, I guess :D . He goes to a local Irish pub to play trivia every Tuesday. The pub, Ri-Ra's has several on the east coast of the US; plus one in London. A few years ago his team won the local contest and was sent to Atlantic City for a competition against the winners from the other cities. They got stomped by a pack of profs from Brown University in Providence, so they didn't get to go to London. Am happy to meet another trivia buff, I know you'll be very interesting! :winner:

Edit: Hmmm, in looking at the website, I don't see one listed in London. I guess I don't know why the winners of the competition were being sent to London. Why not Dublin? LOL !!!

Double Edit! - I guess it's NOT just the east coast of the US. Kentucky and Indiana are not on the eastern seaboard.

      Platypus! amirite?

No, I don't speak Latin, but did marry a man who is endlessly fascinated with trivia. Platypus has entered the conversation on more than one occasion

That's right, you are from Aus, right? You guys DO have real animals that are a bit wierd. hehehe ....

I am playing around. I think you're right, it's the Jack part of the name that makes people think I'm male. It's happened so many times, the name must just sound 'male'. Yea, I'd never heard of the tale of the jackalope either, until the day I registered here. I was surfing around, and stumbled across it. Caught my interest. Shortly afterward, I reg'd here, I said what they hey! I'll be the jackalope :D

No worries, despite my pastels, many think I'm male at first. Hm. Perhaps my assumption that pastel avatars lean female is bigoted. Yes, 93 is a good get, IA!

Ms Jackalope  It was a really interesting article. That guy - wow, huh? Interesting about the really positive outlook on life. After such experiences, you probably don't have the option of ambivalence. Either whole hog positive, or the opposite?

yea i can see that. i do want to at least try, though. letting people wallow in their ignorance of reason is worse, in my opinion.

Yeah I know - in fact one of my all time favourite short stories in science fiction was "fireship" and it used just that premise - Mars would be colonised by people WANTING to add pollution to the atmosphere

cassandra I am not Koori and I am sorry if my flag confused you.

I have used that flag because I think that falg would unite the country like nothing has ever before and also I refuse to pledge allegiance to a flag which has another countries in it.

I understand the diggers (australian soldiers) that have died for my freedom died under the current flag but they were fighting for freedom and against oppression not for a flag.

I also have Kori friends and they were not offended but as I stated I can understand if someone who knew what blackface was and its connotations, did take offence.

Yes I agree Cassandra... Often times we dont take the extra step to see the views of an individual and at some point, we realize I am alot like her... The areas where I am not, we can set aside...

Thank you, I know that the New Year will bring you happiness and content Cassandra!
