    No cherry picking then. Cut ALL of it.
    Obama sent 800 million to the Palestinians this year. I object to that.
    We send it to China.

    You can make a case for Israel. It's the only democracy in the region.
    You cannot make a case for the Palestinians (Hamas) or China.
    Cut our enemies first, but sure, cut it all on principle. We ARE broke.

    One major spill every 25+ years is not worth killing jobs and keeping gas prices high.

    Well, we've been prevented from drilling ANY new wells in the Gulf since DWH, so how exactly do you know that drilling more wells hasn't lowered the cost of gas? Most of the new deep wells are off the coast of Brazil and employ Brazilians.

    Not really. If people were honestly demanding more public transport, it would be there. We've had more trouble extending mass transit due to racism than due to anything the oil companies do. The whites in the burbs don't want the trains to go anywhere near those neighborhoods because they think that black people are going to use said trains to come to their neighborhoods and steal their big screens ... and take them back on the train. This is nonsense, but it's why trains don't get built in my city.

    It's partly that we're preventing drilling in America, but also because (and you might not have noticed) the entire middle east is pretty unstable and that's where the oil is. But continue blaming Capitalism. It's cute, really.

    If you don't want to fall for lies, you might want to check yourself first. You haven't hit the truth once.

    Really? Surely the number of jobs and the effect of on gas prices must count in this equation.

    Unfortunately from everything presented, the number of jobs and the ability to lower gas prices are in serious question.

    How many jobs do you think the deep water horizon spill was worth? 100? 1000? 50000? 1? What about long term enviromental effects? What about agriculture jobs lost due to enviromental hazards? You aren't seeing the whole picture. We NEED jobs, but not at ANY cost.

    If our Gov. officials spent half as much time trying to pass much needed infrastructure legislation as they did sucking on Big oil's teet ragarding this pipeline, then we'd be creating alot more jobs right now then the pipeline could ever produce.

    What is being discussed is Phase 3 of the pipeline. Phase 1 & 2 are already built. Currently, the oil that will be transported by the Phase 3 pipeline is being hauled to it's destination by trains. Now, who owns the trains that are hauling this oil? Why none other than Obama good buddy Warren Buffet.

    Chances of a train derailment is greater then an oil spill from a buried and encased pipeline.

    Warren Buffett getting richer off the pipeline stall....figures. Obama helping his buds for what he knows he'll get - a hefty campaign contribution.

    That Canadian oil is being hauled by Canadian RR's...CP and Canadian National. Does Buffet own these RR's?

    Oil is already being hauled from N. Dakota by US RR's. Buffet may well be profiting from that, but it has nothing to do with the Keystone pipeline.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In North Dakota, where the Bakken Shale reserve is being drilled, some 450,000 barrels of crude oil daily are being pumped – so much that pipelines are at capacity and BNSF and Canadian Pacific (Soo Line) tank cars are originating up to 300,000 barrels of crude oil daily to refineries along the Gulf Coast. In fact, the state estimates that as drilling expands, railroads could be hauling as much as 700,000 barrels of the black gold in tank cars.
    In western Canada, meanwhile, CP and Canadian National are hauling increased quantities of crude oil from the Alberta tar sands south across the border, destined to refineries along the Gulf Coast – a 1,700-mile rail route through Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.
    Seems to me that, with all this oil being recovered in that area, that building a refinery closer to the source should be considered.
