This is a country where more people know the names of NASCAR drivers than the names of the Justices of the Supreme Court. Why would you think we're not insane enough to elect Rick Santorum?
"The record clearly indicates a serious and concentrated pattern of unacceptable and at times, illegal activity occurring over a lengthy period, which establishes a course of conduct totally at odds with the ethics of our profession," Col. Julia Grimes, then head of Alaska State Troopers, wrote in March 1, 2006, letter suspending Wooten for 10 days. After the union protested it, the suspension was reduced to five days. She warned that if he messed up again, he'd be fired. "This discipline is meant to be a last chance to take corrective action," Grimes wrote. "You are hereby given notice that any further occurrences of these types of behaviors or incidents will not be tolerated and will result in your termination." It's nearly impossible to know whether other complaints have come in about Wooten in the last two years. His personnel file is confidential. But the fact he remains on the force is an indication that he hasn't had the sort of trouble that Grimes warned against. Grimes declined to comment, as did various troopers involved in the investigation. '... NOT WITHOUT A BLEMISH' As the investigation got under way in 2005, Wooten was in the midst of a bitter divorce from Palin's sister, Molly McCann. The couple was fighting over custody of their two young children. Accusations flew from both sides. Troopers eventually investigated 13 issues and found four in which Wooten violated policy or broke the law or both: Wooten used a Taser on his stepson. He illegally shot a moose. He drank beer in his patrol car on one occasion. He told others his father-in-law would "eat a f'ing lead bullet" if he helped his daughter get an attorney for the divorce. Beyond the investigation sparked by the family, trooper commanders saw cause to discipline or give written instructions to correct Wooten seven times since he joined the force, according to Grimes' letter to Wooten. Actually, the law was changed after Sarah Palin's ethics reform loophole was done and over with. Translation: Those charges against Sarah Palin were frivolous, the State of Alaska recognized that they were frivolous, and soundly corrected the problem. The State also apparently recognized that it was completely unfair, if not simply unlawful, to have forced Sarah Palin to have paid for all legal expenses on all but two charges that were eventually thrown out of court.
Exactly, the state realized the the Liberals / Democrats abused the justice system and the bureaucracy to wrongfully and repeatedly attack Sarah Palin. It's a shame the National (Democratic Party) Media will not report it. Sarah did the right thing all throughout... as her 23,000 emails revealed as well.
The most important finding is Finding Number Two. The investigator concluded, Governor Palins firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads. Thats correct. The Governor of any state has the authority to hire and fire her executives for any reason. They are employees that are hired at her will. The Governor did not abuse her authority. Wow. Thats amazing that the Alaskan Legislature Council felt they needed to spend $100,000 to figure that one out. Can the legislature not read and understand their own Constitution? So why did the Governor fire Commissioner Monegan? Commissioner Monegan committed a major blunder on May 15, 2008. On that day, He submitted to her office a poster-boy photograph of a disreputable Alaskan Trooper for the Governor to sign and present at the Police Memorial Day honoring the Troopers. The Governro declined to sign the poster and refused to attend the Police Memorial Day. Here is the excerpt from page 39 of the report. He did what? You have to be kidding me, right? Let me read that one again, slowly! The Commissioner dropped off a color poster photograph of Trooper Wooten. A trooper he claims that he was being pressured to fire. A trooper he claims he was pressured to fire since the first day of his job. A job he felt he was going to lose if he did not fire this trooper. A trooper who the Commissioner knew the Governor Palin and her husband believed to be an extremely poor representation of an Alaska State Trooper. A trooper who the Commissioner knew had been repeatedly disciplined for a multitude of serious infractions. Infractions such as: the taking of a moose illegally, tasering an 11-year-old stepson of Wootens, drinking while driving in the patrol car, having a beer while he was driving his patrol car. Monegan to Branchflower page 18 And this trooper, is the one he selects to honor on the Police Memorial Day? I dont believe the Commissioner was that stupid. I dont believe that the Commissioner was that incompetent. I can only conclude that the Commissioner was deliberately insubordinate. That he was deliberately seeking to antagonize and worry the Governor of the State of Alaska
So let's see, this piece of trash as the Liberals painted her, got three people in her own party convicted of wrong doing which I'm sure the Democrats loved. She forced the oil companies to produce gas on state land that they were sitting on for higher prices before developing it.(Two other governors couldn't.) Bringing in billions of dollars that she shared with every citizen in Alaska every year to the tune of $1,200.00 She cut taxes every year she was a Mayor and as Governor She signed in a clean air program for Alaska that was better than what Obama came out with. She cut spending on air travel more than the other two governors by requiring state employees to fly coach instead of First Class. She encourage kids to call her personally if they contemplated dropping out of school. She cut state spending every year. Wow, what a lousy Governor and Mayor she was. Not bad for the idiot they made her out to be.
Spock here. Logic suggests that liberals have abandoned the thread when the facts were presented. Spock out.
"Spot on"? She wasn't even close. "Spot on"...lol... "quite clear"....lololol. I don't see how anything could be "quite clear" if someone has their head so far up Palin's ass that they actually believe anything that spews from that woman's mouth.
Now can anyone tell me what bills Obama sponsored and passed the time he was a Illinois and State Senator? Let's see how his record compared to what Palin did.
What really pisses me off with Liberals, is Obama said hands off the family and they trashed all of them. Here was a good Christian woman that went to church, took care of her own kids, was a soccer mom, cooked her own meals and drove her self when she could have had a cook, state car and driver. She could have had her own plane and got rid of all of it. She is what every American would want in a Mother and politician, and they ruined her.
They definitely should've left the family alone... The family should be off limits every time... But, unfortunately, you can't make everyone act like they have home training... Some actually don't... Ridiculous...
Wow... what a shocker. Didn't take long before the right-wingers swooped in to troll the thread and try and knock it off-topic. Let's stick with the issue under discussion here: Sarah Palin couldn't even handle the governorship of a relatively small state like Alaska (722k population?) without whining about how "I can't take it anymore", throwing her hands up and quitting. Thank god she didn't make into the White House. I wonder how she would handle a constant and vicious stream of attacks like the Obama's have to handle on a daily basis? So let's keep the discussion at the state level which, hopefully, will be the full extent of Sarah Palin's public service career.
I write that as an American, eye. And what does it matter anyway? Have you fallen into the ignorant right-wing trap of denying the legitimacy of opinions if they come from other countries? You embarrass yourself.
I've stayed on topic if you haven't realized it. I explained why she quit. Those asses of Democrats trashed her and her whole family. They filed so many frivolous law suits that it cost her over a half a million dollars to fight it. Money she didn't have. I guess she figured she could make out better quitting, writing a book and making personal appearances. Politicians get gobs of money doing both. So now she isn't poor anymore. She has her home in Alaska and a very big one right here outside of Phoenix. I just don't expect many Liberals to understand it. Even when you explain it to them. Several on this board already have
Liberals / Democrats do not want "Loser Pays". Everyone knows, they would be doing a lot of paying. It was proven that Palin was maliciously attacked in the courts and in the bureaucracy. It was so bad that Alaska changed the laws to stop such destruction of their leadership.
Sorry Joe. I was making a joke with a wink only I got, reference your "confusing" my statement about liberals as actually conservatives. UK having a Conservative and Unionist Party...that is rightwing....and a Labour Party that is leftwing...and you showing dual flags of countries. My humour is over rated in my head.
Here is another lie they told. She is stupid because she didn't name any books or magazines she read when asked. Do you know what she took up in college? www.usnews.com › Education › The Paper Trail Sep 5, 2008 – Palin's collegiate career began in the one state younger than Alaska, where ... she majored in journalism with an emphasis in broadcast news. How can you major in journalism if you can't read?
Did Palin say she can see Russia from her front door. Who was it who even brought up how close Russia was to Alaska? Not Palin. CHARLES GIBSON (ABC NEWS) (Off-camera) Let me ask you about specific national security situations. Lets start, because we are near Russia. Lets start with Russia and Georgia. The administration has said, weve got to maintain the territorial integrity of Georgia. Do you believe the United States should try to restore Georgian sovereignty over South Ossetia and Abkhazia? GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN (REPUBLICAN VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE) First off, were going to continue good relations with Saakashvili there. I was able to speak with him the other day and giving him my commitment, as John McCains running mate, that we will be committed to Georgia. And weve got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable. And we have to keep CHARLES GIBSON (ABC NEWS) (Off-camera) You believe unprovoked? GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN (REPUBLICAN VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE) I do believe unprovoked. And we have got to keep our eyes on Russia. Under the leadership there. CHARLES GIBSON (ABC NEWS) (Off-camera) What insight into Russian actions particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of this state give you? GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN (REPUBLICAN VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE) Theyre our next door neighbors. And you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska. CHARLES GIBSON (ABC NEWS) (Off-camera) You in favor of putting Georgia and Ukraine into NATO? GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN (REPUBLICAN VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE) Ukraine, definitely, yes. Yes, and Georgia. Putin thinks otherwise. Obviously he thinks otherwise. CHARLES GIBSON (ABC NEWS) (Off-camera) And under the NATO treaty, wouldnt we then have to go to war if Russia went into Georgia? GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN (REPUBLICAN VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE) Perhaps so. I mean that is the agreement. When you are a NATO ally, is, if another country is attacked, you are going to be expected to be called upon and help.
