Killing is justified in self defense.

Thank you, but should evidence reveal the shooter shot and killed the victim, I doubt this can be tried as 1st degree murder, more like 2nd, and hence would not get the death penalty.

I feel it would be a legal stretch to say the shooter planned this event.

Of course....when was this ever in dispute? I don't see that as the issue however.

How do we claim "self defense" as the angle here?

This guy, Zimmerman, was not sitting in his car and got attacked for no reason...that would be self defense. The story shows he didnt wait for Police, and inserted himself into the situation. He had 0 business actually confronting anyone about anything. neighborhood watch is simply that..watch and report strange happenings to the professionals. The ones paid to actually stop crimes.

Self Defense doesn't fit under those circumstances IMO.

If we get more info which shows this really to be self defense, then of course I would change my stance according to this new information. Although I'm not sure if we'll get any...seems only one side of the story is still breathing.

Depends. You need (or should be) to be in fear of your life. If you are armed and your victim is not then its almost impossible to call it justified regardless of the legal outcome.

    I'm aware of that.

I know the legal standard we have set for the Death Penalty. I disagree with it. This act - if the information is correct, and new information does not change the circumstance - should be eligible for the Death Penalty. I find this guy's actions utterly reprehensible, and I condemn him in the strongest possible terms. He has ended an innocent life and done damage to our society, and given opponents to freedom and the 2nd Amendment a convenient platform from which to continue to claim insipid crap to further erode our rights.

I would have no problem at all frying this rodent.

You need to honestly quote posts. I don't care if you don't have the balls to be honest about the OP but DO NOT EDIT MY POSTS. If you have a response then keep it separate. Now go back and correct the editing.

That folks can form such strong opinions on such a vague, poorly written report of events....

reveals just how easily "trusted" national alphabet media can manipulate people into voting for....say, a radical, leftist ideologue with an axe to grind.

Its disgusting how bigoted your OP is assuming its racism driven just because a white shot a black.

You don't have near enough information to state that,

the kid fit the profile of a criminal because in that area all the criminals are black so he looked suspicious maybe because the whites suffer alot of theft there.

police officers have the authority to shoot if they suspect a weapon is being drawn but don't know if it applies to security the same way

imo no if he legitimately was in fear for his life but that is for a jury

But its not vague or poorly written, its a clear concise report of the alleged facts from a trusted reputable news source.

I think you need to change hands.

    You are too nice.

I think it perfectly highlights the STUPIDITY of liberals and their sole reliance on emotion over facts to drawn conclusions.

Which is a total lie. It doesn't state what the kid was doing when he was shot.

    Enjoy your fail.

Fair enough, I am under the influence that if this person was simply a paranoid delusional, just lock him away. But, the evidence still needs to be presented, all this is speculation.

So what could an unarmed kid who wasn't actually doing anything illegal (he was reported as being suspicious only) do to justify him being shot? The neighborhood watch guy, Zimmerman, approached the kid (ignoring the police), not the other way around.

    - Martin (the dead teenager) had a clean record
    - On Thursday, Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee confirmed to WFTV that the dispatcher told Zimmerman to wait for officers to arrive. Zimmerman was following Martin at the time.
    - In the recording, Zimmerman is reported to have said "They always get away,"
    - Sanford police have still refused to release the 911 call (citing privacy reasons). Martin's family have filed a public records lawsuit.
    - Zimmerman has not been charged with any offence.
    - Stanford policeman who spoke off-record said there was some evidence of self-defence.

Take this how you will, but it should reduce some of the stretches some people have resorted to in this thread.

Some important info tucked in there. Lets see what the 911 call reveals. If true, someone (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up...be it Zimmerman or the Police. Seems funny they would ignore requests for the tape of the 911 call.

Perhaps they screwed up by asking Zimmerman to detain him? Perhaps Zimmerman himself simply disregarded that advice? The families lawyer intends to sue for this information/tape if they still have not recieved it.

I think it's clear however by the statement of ,"If the 911 protocol across the country held to form here, they told him not to get involved.", that Neighborhood Watch, (as I have been saying), has 0 business actually confronting or detaining anyone. they are simply meant to watch and report.

Clearly this shows that intended policy regarding NW is to not get involved.

    It's swiss cheese.

"The family wants the Neigborhood Watch commander arrested" suggests to me that the event was not a clear cut case of cold blooded murder...I'm thinking that if it were, the shooter would have been immediately arrested, charged and either sitting in jail or out on bail awaiting trial.

But there are too many questions to have a strong opinion either way....so I'll defer to you experts.

LOL Are you kidding? He could be assaulting someone, assaulting the guy who shot him. How can you miss the obvious?

So why are you moronically assuming he was doing nothing wrong?

    Explain yourself.

It's not self-defense if you're the aggressor. Think...

Simply by confronting the young man he was doing something wrong. If the kid wasn't committing a crime, he has ZERO reason to confront.
