Santorum knows how to talk to the people. He talks to them about jobs lost because of Obama's environmental policies and it's obvious he really cares about the people who lost their jobs. He talks about high gas prices caused by Obama's energy policies and it's obvious he cares about people who are hurting because of it. He talks about the centrality of faith and family and its obvious he really means it. He speaks of the disdain elites have for ordinary Americans and it is obvious he is really angry about it. Santorum talks to the people who used to be Democrats, the Reagan Democrats, the people like my parents who were abandoned by the Democratic party when it turn a hard left turn in 1972. If Santorum lived in a previous generation, he would be a conservative Democrat. He does not have the air of a country club Republican, which makes Romney such an unattractive candidate to so many. And he does not have the personal immorality background of Newt Gingrich. Santorum has lived his principles on family values. He has been married to one woman for 22 years and has had 8 children, 7 of them still living. Santorum is not really a conservative of the Goldwater variety. He has taken a strong stand against the radical individualism of the libertarian wing of the party. His conservativism is tempered by a strong Catholic faith, which brings with it many ideas most people consider are liberal -- but actually aren't. Unfortunately, Santorum is too good and moral to be our President. Our nation is no longer worthy of a man who has courage and convictions. So we'll end up with Romney, a doppleganger with no principles as our next President.
Your type thinks so. But we are aware of your disdain and sense of intellectual superiority, and we resent it.
He got his political ass whipped and is now known forever as former senator. A religious extremist with every intention to use government power to force his kook religious belief system down everyones throats.. No thank you.
If Santorum were in contention, you'd hear a LOT more about his past activities as a Pennsylvania senator, and why it is he got run out of Pennsylvania. He isn't though, so you won't. Besides..PinkSlip has paid for the election fair and square, and we all know, that's the way it really works.
Thank God for that. We don't need an intolerant bigot with delusions about fighting satan and enforcing his theocratic moralizing nonsense on a pluralistic nation. Maybe he should go run for pope.
Just what we need, another slick talking politician who knows how to tell the sheep exactly what they want to hear. That'll fix all our problems.
I have yet to 'warm up' to Santorum but I find it interesting that the only thing that Romney supporters seem to be able to come up with in their argument against Santorum is that he lost his bid for the Senate a few years ago...So I must ask; didn't Romney loose his bid to McCain to be POTUS, a few years ago? Pot-Kettle maybe?
LOSE, not loose. There are a lot of arguments to bring up against Santorum; namely, the fact that he wants turn America into a theocracy.
I agree that his insistence on governing by his own version of Sharia law is ridiculous; what are we to do about it though?
I think it's odd that the repubs would recycle one of their former primary losers, too, but given the abysmal quality of the rest of their potus nomination candidates this time, it's understandable. Personally, you might have done better recycling McCain (without the Palin millstone around his neck).
