So assuming we could implement the Dream Act and allow illegals to become citizens overnight, who would benefit? Would the US benefit or illegals or would both benefit?
It would not help the citizens (who were citizens before). Many people are without jobs, more people looking for jobs will not help. It would not help the US, since more people would be on welfare. It would possibly help the illegals. They many be able to get a job however they may also get welfare if they could not get a job.
The illegals would benefit but it wouldn't fix the problem for the country. Tomorrow there will be more illegals coming in that are not affected by the dream act and we will be in the same position we are in now. Only way to fix the problem is to take away the illegal's jobs by fining then shutting down the people or company's that employ them.
Shutting down the companies will not help the situation since that would make more people lose their jobs.
The threat of heavy fines and closure would ensure that company's take the proper steps to remove all illegal's from their workplace. They are not going to keep them employed and risk losing their business.
So far the only vote is that it will help illegals and not the country. Having said that, those that defend the Dream Act seem to only be considering illegals and not the country. Should the Dream Act then be considered treasonous on these grounds?
It can't be treason if its voted in by our elected representatives or brought in under the power of the President.
Since God granted all people with the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, isn't it only natural that we should support the Dream Act as it allows people not born in this country the liberty to pursue the happiness that is the American Dream?
There is a path for them to immigrate legally into this country to pursue that dream. The pursuit of happiness does not mean they get to do it on their terms.
The Dream Act would result in amnesty for millions of illegals who have never been in college and have no intention of going to college. The fraud would be unbelievable like it was in 1986 when Reagan gave amnesty to 4 million illegals after he told us it would be more like 300,000!!!! All the Dreamer would have to do is SAY he's in college and he would be accepted. What little documentation he required would be for sale on every street corner.
Apparently our representatives are incapable of treason. Wow, what a load off my mind. Nothing to see here!!!
How would it not help the US to have de facto residents who are really pissed off already to be less pissed off?
Because 90% of the legalized illegals will go on welfare. The best solution for america is to remove these criminal parasites. All captured illegals should be deported - no exceptions.
I don't think this is a fair summary of the DREAM act. Isn't the DREAM act intended to grant permanent residency, NOT citizenship? And isn't that permanent residency contingent on several discriminatory factors, any one of which by the way would exclude a significant number of idiots who obtain citizenship by birth? And isn't there a two or six year "conditional" residency status, as opposed to the OP's alarmist "overnight" version? So I guess the question is are you asking about the actual DREAM Act, or are you just throwing out a slush ball idea for other people who don't know what they're talking about to cream?
