I have offices in 4 other countries and keep the profits there because of corporate tax rates. Instead of trying to bring the money home my growth in new hires is overseas and support and some engineering and admin is now done there. I would love to just have sales offices overseas and centralize here but it's too cost prohibitive to repatriate money for goods and services sold internationally. I do not import everything here any more either. It would be my preference but again, I could not compete.

So, read all your articles, post all your nonsense, I live it every day.

Hewlett-Packard just announced it is cutting 27,000 jobs.

    The Obama recession marches on.

LOL. HP is run by Meg Whitman. She is the failed REPUBLICAN gubernatorial candidate. Looks like she is taking HP in the same direction as her campaign.

Whitman is the CEO of the company but that doesn't make her a dictator like Der Black Fuhrer.

I don't think the board of HP would cut 27,000 jobs if they don't have to.

Their cross town rivals seem to be doing okay under the Obama regime...

Meg Whitman needs to get off her ass.

Couldn't let this bit of anti-business misinformation pass.

Exxon's income taxes paid have ranged from 37.1% to 44.7% for the last ten years. In 2011 they paid 42.7%. Please document those years when Exxon did not pay income taxes.

GE, due to its finance arm's involvment in the motgage mess, lost a boatlad of money in 2009 and thus with no income, paid no income taxes, probably for the only year in their long history.

The people running Apple may well be smarter than the ones at HP.

    I wouldn't know.

But in a robust recovery both should be doing OK.

The fact that marginally weak companies are falling only makes the Obama failure more obvious.

If money does not stay in America it could be in Islamic Kenya or Islamic Indonesia.

Corporate profits in the US are at an all time high. That is a FACT. HP is not sharing in this corporate profits boom because they suck. How is their tablet doing? Is that Obama's fault? How is the HP phone doing? How is their MP3 player doing?

That is what makes extremist Republicans terrible at business. Instead of looking at long term technological and style trends in their industry they are just busy blaming the person in the White House. Nokia just moved a TON of cell phones in the US briefly knocking Apple off the number one spot. They came out of nowhere. They have had virtually zero US presence for years. So while Republicans were (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing about Obama a EUROPEAN company fresh off some layoffs stormed into the US with a new cell phone. What was Meg Whitman doing? Nada. Zilch. Just playing the Republican victimhood game.

So tax loopholes have created to some degree a corporate welfare, as it is known.
