Oh....ok. Your attempt to make a 'relevant' distinction between Republican Romney's multi-millions eclipsing Democrat Edward's multi-millions was just inane partisan hackery, then. gotcha.
I didn't bring up Obama's house, or John Edward's house or wealth. I don't like Edwards or Mitt.. Edwards is a hairsprayed dirt bag.. and Mitt is timid and flakey.
I have always hated when people give their own party members free passes for doing crap they would crucify members of the other party for. I have no problem saying they're both out of touch turds who say things that come off as being sociopathic.
Don't hate it....it's a gift. Revel in it...expose it...rub their duplicitous little noses in their foul stench at every available opportunity... make them recognize and be uncomfortable in their cognitive dissonance... make them THINK above "level one" (poker player reference) they vote, for (*)(*)(*)(*) sake..
think there are plenty of hard core right wingers who wish that they didn't have Romney as a candidate even if they don't say so out loud. His founding of healthcare in Massachusetts, his career long history of position reversals, he's not even close to being an authentic conservative candidate.
Margot, dear...if I read...and actually replied to every one of your thousand posts a week, I'd A) wear off my fingerprints, B) be unable to leave the house, and C) further descend into madness.
There are plenty of posters who don't put party first and can readily identify idiots in either party.
Qhat's the difference? Both were running for office. I'll bet Romney's house is nothing like Edwards home. It is the biggest utility user in the county according to what I read some years ago. I bet Romney doesn't get $400.00 hair cuts like Edwards did/does. http://www.celebrityhousepictures.com/john-edwards.php
...... He would need the indoor garage if he becomes president to keep his get-a-way car quickly away from the hordes of newly unemployed American workers as Bain Capital, under Romney's directive, goes after all ailing corporations in America. It does matter when if he would ever become president would stop all free school lunches for poor kids, and take their parents off unemployment checks, downsize schools, turning them into private charter schools for those that can afford them. But we already know that Mitt Romney has a peculiar set of priorities, don't we..... _______________________________________________________________ "I stand behind what I said, whatever it was.".......Willard 'Mitt' Romney
...... Funny, but I have never had the yearning to be a cold, callous corporate raider. An excessively frugal billionaire with secret offshore accounts, and who harbors much of his wealth in the LDS Mormon Church.
Are people really reacting to this with so little thought? The point isn't that Romney is spending his own money this way. The point is that citizens feel so disconnected from this guy, yet he wants to be the leader of their government's executive branch. A friggin elevator for his cars? This guy is living in another America than the rest of us. And good for him! He should not be penalized as a citizen for his success. But hell if he's going to have a clue how to execute the office of the President on behalf of the regular folk. And setting policies that encourage wealthy people to spend more money on their extravagant pet projects so that laborers can earn a living - "please, sir, may I install a fuel pump in your garage so you don't have to drive to those boorish gas stations like the commoners do" - isn't going to cut it.
The bolded part above is just another form of envy and jealousy, hidden behind a thin "commonality argument" designed to deflect from the fact this poster obviously has an issue with individuals that have created a successful life. The "regular folk" as you describe are looking for a leader as President, one that has an experience of success (Obama has no experience - and look at the outcome). Lastly, most "laborers" (as you call them) take pride in the work they perform and enjoy being employed. I guess you expect craftsman to resent those that would hire them?
Mods, How did this one sentence (if that) OP survive the PF thread creation standards? Some Mod moved it from Current Events to here. _
Romney defenders can cry "you're just jealous" all they want. Fact is this guy had a privileged life growing up, practices an obscure religion, makes more money in a year than most people see in a lifetime, and seems to think he's running for the CEO of America job. It's quite clear he's in over his head politically. I guess you expect craftsmen to be oh so grateful for the opportunity to build onto some rich guy's third or fourth home a garage that's nicer than the house where he lives with his own family. I don't know if you realize this, but when people groan about working for "the man," it means something very different than when they say to their buddy, "you're the man!" Grateful to be employed? Probably. Willing to vote for the guy to be their leader? Not a chance.
That is SO COOL... I wish I could get my bail out or at least the job that Obama promised me so I can try and buy one too......
You are jealous, just not intellectually honest enough to admit it. And, the fact that you think how privileged he was as a child or money he has limits his electability just shows how little you understand about former presidents that grew up privileged and with money. In regards to your comments on work, just because you take no pride in your work and have an attitude when working for someone with money, doesn't mean the general worker feels the same way. Please explain to us how "the man" has kept you down, clearly, you have been held back from greatness.
Strictly terms of physically possessing the money PinkSlip commands, you could make an argument that it's his. In terms of how he got possession of it to begin with, it's a strong case can be made that it's "other people's" money. Elect him President, and it means one fully supports taking "other people's money" for yourself. "Corporate" socialism is fully acceptable on the right. Elect this guy and we give our blessing to all the super rich to take whatever they want.
Romney is not the nominee and the Democrats were complaining about his new house before he even became the presumptive candidate. So why was it OK for Edwards to have a big house, which he got by suing companies and not Romney which he got because he built companies?
