Why is it that the demographic segment that is the least likely to face a violent death from another person is the most frightened? Young, black males should be concerned about being murdered and our society should be more concerned about these murders. But, middle-aged, white folks, not poor, seemed to be the most frightened when statistically they're the least likely to be victimized and if they are it's more often than not a spouse and friend who kills them. I don't really get it.
Maybe you don't get it because you're starting off with the retarded premise that middle aged white folks are frightened. Garbage in, garbage out.
I'm sure the residents in any urban hellhole lives in greater fear than the average person, white, middle aged, or otherwise, than someone who lives a better exsistance elsewhere. Being from Mexico, you should be more worried about your own turf. Even the worst ghetto in the US is much safer than the average gang controlled area in Mexico. Juarez makes even Detroit look good.
In Michigan most self-defense shootings are black defenders (79%) shooting a black criminal (92%). 18% of the self-defenders are women. 97% of the dead perps are men. I don't have data on other states. Among law-abiding peaceful folks, if they are murdered it is rarely by a family member or friend. The FBI staistice that most murders are done by people who know the victim is true, but that is because most folks in the criminal underground know each other. Pimps, hookers, johns, drug dealers, drug customers, drug smugglers, loan sharks, etc, etc, tend to know each other. http://www.mlive.com/news/index.ssf/2012/06/justified_to_kill_an_mlive_spe.html
