I have to say you are not appropriately named. Using links from Think Progress automatically disqualifies you as someone who thinks for them self.

Secondly, you, or should I say your talking points master, TP, is complaining about about expenses that are part of a Congressman's spending allowance. They also get funds to hire staff, office supplies, phones... all kinds of things that are part of setting up an office.

None of this has anything to do with the fact they are Tea Party. Next thing you know you'll be complaining that they draw a salary.

    Try again.

They'd be whining about having to by and replace vehicles if Congress had a motor pool.

There was a story either earlier in this year or late last year where a California lawmaker didn't want to lease a car but was forced to due to some stupid rule set up by the California legislature.

I am not sure sure about that. $1000/month for a SUV sounds fairly pricey.

How about we do this. How about if they want a car, they use their own and we expense out the local mileage, such as $.60 a mile, just like anyone else has to do? Or they get a set car allowance of $250 a month?

"The more things change, the more they stay the same."

Remember back in 2010 when the T-Party was literally "all the rage" for the right-wing?

"We gotta take our country back!"
    "Down with the liberal spending!"
    "Send Obammy back to Africa!"

One of the major planks in the T-Party's platform is the idea of fiscal conservatism. Of course, you're supposed to ignore the years between 2000 and 2007 when the Republican controlled Congress and the White House, rubberstamped their way into squandering a surplus and, instead of paying off the debt by 2006 like the CBO projected was possible, decided to start two long-term expensive wars, cripple federal revenue and STILL managed to set the stage for a near-collapse of the economy.

Well, it seems as though the T-Party freshmen have settled in rather nicely. I guess it's hard to blame them considering all the perks that Congress gets. But you would expect someone whose ideology is firmly entrenched in the arena of "less government spending" would want to...well... spend less government money.

Big shocker coming but 7 Congressmen that rode the T-Party wave into Congress are now sitting on the beach drinking daiquiri on the taxpayers' dime.

    Thanks for the "revolution" t-party.

Seven Tea Party Freshmen Spent More Than $100,000 In Taxpayer Money On Personal Cars

    http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/07/16/511807/tea-party-car-leases/

Though they campaigned on a platform of reducing the deficit and ridding wasteful spending, more than a half-dozen Tea Party congressmen have collectively spent over $100,000 in taxpayer money on personal vehicles.

ThinkProgress examined spending records for the 112th Congress and found seven GOP freshmen — Reps. Chip Cravaack (R-MN), Sean Duffy (R-WI), Bill Flores (R-TX), Cory Gardner (R-CO), Bill Johnson (R-OH), Mike Pompeo (R-KS), and Steve Womack (R-AR) — who had spent an average of $15,000 on cars for themselves. All together, their taxpayer bill totaled $106,643.

There is nothing illegal about the practice of using taxpayer money to lease personal-use cars, but it smacks of hypocrisy for Tea Partiers like Duffy who promised to “lead by example” when it comes to deficit reduction.

Many of the vehicles go beyond a standard sedan. For example, Cravaack is charging taxpayers more than $1,000 a month to pay the lease on his 2011 Chevy Equinox, a crossover SUV with all-wheel drive.

The best example of abuse you can find is a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing Equinox You have to be joking. Do you even know what an Equinox is. Its like the cheapest SUV crossover out there. Maybe if he had gotten a fully loaded Suburban you might have a point.

This just kind of proves how liberals pray on ignorance both their own and the governance of others. This entire story is dependent on the reader being too ignorant to know what an Equinox is and too lazy bother to look it up.

Think Porgress: He got an EQUINOX!!!!
Typical Ignorant Liberal: Oh my god not an EQUINOX!!!!
Conservative who can change his won oil: Do you even know what an equinox is?
    Typical Ignorant Liberal: No.
Conservative who can change his won oil: Its about the cheapest Chevy POS SUV on the market.

For the lease, insurance, gas all assorted miscellaneous expenses (like car washes, etc)?

How about you focus on things that matter.

They each (R&D) get around a million dollars per year for discretionary expense, which is wasteful, but combined it's less than one Polosi trip home, while the House Speaker.

I'm not concerned about them buying cheap cars. A better example of Tea Party hypocrisy is things like 32 wastes of time and billions of dollars to repeal Obamacare when they know (*)(*)(*)(*) well they won't win and spending way more on defense than the President and the Pentagon asked for.

I guess hypocrisy is part of the t-party platform.

It's kind of like those Republican commentators on their 3rd or 4th marriage railing on about how gays are going to destroy marriage.

Yes, we get it. It's wast when someone else does it. It's perfectly acceptable for these Republican Congress critters to talk the talk but refuse to walk the walk because they can run around on the public's dime.

This is why nobody but the t-party takes the t-party seriously.

If they are american vehicles, even expensive ones, I seriously don't understand the issue? Highly visible senators driving around, promoting american vehicles is a good thing. You libs are seriously deluded.

(Did someone seriously recommend congress people should get a cheap foreign car? What is wrong with you?)

Because they're party is the anti-government, anti-tax, anti-waste party. This isn't a hard concept to get. It's called hypocrisy.

    Not even close.

Let me guess, if they didn't attend enough town hall meetings because they didn't have a (*)(*)(*)(*)ty car, we'd hear about that too???
