    The title of the article is a tad misleading - the language in the bill states that nonmarital parenthood is a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect, not child abuse and neglect itself.

    I'd be astonished if this bill passed, but then again, I never thought I'd see a chief justice of the US Supreme Court take the unconstitutional liberty of re-writing the language in a statute...

    I read Grothman's materials and they make sense. Children of unwed mothers are 20 times more likely to go to prison and 9 times more likely to drop out of school. What is your response to that?

    I shall reserve judgement on this until I have one more fact in hand.

    What does he want to do about it?

    Does he want to make it possible for a family to recieve benefits, or to cut them of completely? Perhaps continue benefits on a sliding scale to bring the family up to a decent level?

    Where is the father??? He's the one who impregnated the mother. If he has left the mother to raise the child alone, isn't THAT child abuse???

    Mom raised 5 of us, none of us ended up in jail, all finished highschool and 4 went on to college. The other one is self-taught in IC chip board design and makes 6 figures. Guess we just beat the odds........

    So a woman whose boyfriend bumped her when she became pregnant should be forced to give her baby up for adoption?

    So when my wife passed away from cancer leaving me with two young children all of a sudden I became a risk factor, maybe this dude would like to discuss it with me. I was just going to start a thread, when I logged onto Facebook today I was presented with an ad.
    Immigrate to the USA, Freedom, Liberty and Justice for all, well that's not what I see. I think I will stay here.

    Single mothers were forced to give up their young sons to Hitler's service through laws that were passed by Hitler's legislative and forced into early military training. We are so modeled after facist Germany,(circa 1939) that it is getting harder to tell the difference between the two.
    Single mothers that are forced to give up their children because they are single equals an abomination

    Well, minus the part about mothers being "forced to give up their young sons" or "mothers that are forced to give up their children"..... the only thing youve mentioned. And Hitler also encouraged soldiers to impregnate single women who would together with the state, raise the child.

    Bills like these are what happens when you surround yourself with nothing but people who agree with you, and when you systematically deny any opposing views on the basis that they are opposing you. When there's no one around of a different mindset to say "Hey wait a minute, this is freaking nuts!", you get bills like this so detached from reality and so biased on it's face that you have to reread the OP just to make sure you were reading it correctly.
