I don't think anyone (other then the anti-war crowd) opposed the Afghanistan war. But Iraq is another story.

The difference between Bush and Obama in this case? Bush 'started' both of those Wars (support or not), while Obama is offering support to an already in progress conflict. The two don't match up.

Clinton: Arming Syrian rebels could help al Qaeda

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18563_162-57386279/clinton-arming-syrian-rebels-could-help-al-qaeda/

Syrian activists said that another 135 people were killed there Monday, many of them while fleeing the besieged city of Homs, as Syrian President Bashar Assad continues his brutal, 11-month crackdown on opponents of his regime.

Over the weekend, officials from the U.S. and other countries - dubbed the "friends of Syria" - met in Tunisia and demanded an end to the violence. CBS News correspondent Wyatt Andrews spoke to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who said the U.S. is "deeply distressed" about the civilian casualties but raised serious concerns about calls to arm the Syrian opposition.

Clinton: Too many concerns over arming Syrians

"What are we going to arm them with and against what? We're not going to bring tanks over the borders of Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan," Clinton said.

Another administration concern is that weapons might go to al Qaeda.

"We know al Qaeda [leader Ayman al-] Zawahiri is supporting the opposition in Syria. Are we supporting al Qaeda in Syria? Hamas is now supporting the opposition. Are we supporting Hamas in Syria?" Clinton said. "If you're a military planner or if you're a secretary of state and you're trying to figure out do you have the elements of an opposition that is actually viable, that we don't see. We see immense human suffering that is heartbreaking."

Oh, but of course. "SMart" like helping to hand Egypt over to the muslim brotherhood, and giving Libya to al qaeda?

Yeah...that's quite a bit "DIFFERENT" than what G W Bush did....but I doubt any sentient being would call it "smarter"....

War mongering is only bad when a president from the other party is doing it.

Our business in Syria is to assist the anti-Christ Muslims to re-conquer Syria to re-establish a Middle East Caliphate in full cooperation of the Israelis.

The US disarmed and wrecked Iraq to prepare it for conquest by the Muslim Brotherhood along with Syria and North Africa.

Both the Cans and the Crats support this program.

It was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

What makes Syria so different from Libya or Egypt are the players involved. Iran needs the Assad regime as do the Russians and the Chinese. They all stand to lose a major ally if Assad if overthrown, hence they will fight to protect the regime. I would liken this civil war to the Spanish civil war during the '30's when the Communists, Fascists, and western democracies all went to war against each other. It would be very interesting to see how committed Obama is on this because the Russians will NOT let Syria go and this will definitely worsen our already cold relations with Moscow.

It would be best for us if Syria would be in perpetual war for a good while but eventually someone is going to win. As the case with the other Arab Spring nations, the only future this New-Syria has is Islam.

What bothers me is Obama has been quick in taking sides and assisting these revolutions in the Arab world, yet he didn't do a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing thing when the Mullahs in Iran crushed our only true allies in the Muslim world. Iran was the only country who's revolution would have had Islamists removed from power.

As for my opinion on the subject; to hell with them. We don't need to be in there because it's a lose-lose situation no matter what.

I'd say its within the *natural confluence of todays' politics* ... Obama is slapping neocons upside their head ... especially Mittler ... who makes a grave joke not only of U.S. foreign policy by going abroad as a wartime coward and beating his chest like *he an all that no limit brutha* ... especially his insinuation America is a weak nation under Obama .... as well as Mittlers foreign policy *expertise* of doubling the MIC and paying for it by eliminating Social Security & Medicare ....

I don't think Russia, China & Iran are going to interfere ... not with Obama Drone Fleets taking-out bogeys ... or smart-war ...

Russia and Iran have been involved in Syria from the start. Russia has recently sent troops and arms to Syria. While the Russians won't be flying attack helicopters or crushing buildings with tanks themselves, they will most certainly keep the flow of war machines going.

Russia cannot lose Syria. It's their only access to the Mediterranean Sea and a vital ally. Putin will fight tooth and nail.

Iran already has Hezbollah in Syria and they have no doubt been fighting the rebels. Plus they are providing their fine expertise in crushing revolts since they've had to deal with plenty of situations like this themselves, and have been quite successful.

How well do you think our drones are going to do against Mi-35 attack helicopters? The Russians will match us for every move we make. And I highly doubt we are going to send actual troops into Syria outside of tiny covert forces, and if we do, this civil war could escalate into a wider regional war or even worse.

While it would be a huge victory to steal Syria away from Iran, I think it's just best to allow the murderous bastard Assad stay in power for the time being and let Putin have his port. This is a situation where the Arabs need to get off their (*)(*)(*)(*)ing asses and do something. We don't need the US and NATO pulled into this potentially disastrous outcome.

Putting that poster on ignore is a good move. He/She exhibits trolling behavior....

Obama just can't stop meddling in the Mid-East. Funny how he got a Nobel Peace prize and has turned out to be a War Monger.

I'm reminded of a time when people could give an answer to a question like "What is our business in Syria?".
