    Don't know. Ask Mitt.

The fundamentalist Mormons who practice polygamy is an offshoot from the Mormon church, who do not practice polygamy, like the Westboro Baptist Church is an offshoot from the Baptist Church....

Good grief ... if you find it that disturbing, make life easier for yourself by just putting a sign on your door.

Strangers are not going to change their lifestyle and what's important to them just to suit you......

I've only ever known one Mormon personally, and he was an awesome dude. Very friendly, charitable, had great respect and value for all people, whether he agreed with them or not.

So...*shrug* I've not nothing against Mormons as people. And religion is not an issue at all for me when choosing whom to vote for, so.

Yeah, God changed his mind about black people in the 1970s according to Mormons....

Anyone who believes the Book of Mormon, well I find them to either be living a lie or just too (*)(*)(*)(*) stupid.

A reason I don't care for Romney. If anyone says they are a Mormon they are either a liar or a dumbass.

Yes indeed better a Mormon than a Moron. Mormonism is a theology of works, like Buddhism it is largely internalized, that is to say primarily concerned with perfecting oneself rather than perfecting the world at large.

As for why they changed there minds in the sixties? The answer is of course money. The Government told them there'd be no more Pell grants, or guaranteed student loans for the Students at BYU if they wouldn't admit blacks and the leadership caved. Please note the Mormon church is extremely hierarchical. You aren't allowed to know all the ins and outs of the faith til you've advanced a good way up the totem pole.

"Please note the Mormon church is extremely hierarchical. You aren't allowed to know all the ins and outs of the faith til you've advanced a good way up the totem pole."-Yeah, you just described every entity that has ever existed throughout human history.

As to the mind change, blacks were already allowed, the change came as to obtaining priesthood. At that time is when Mormons were making a major global push. Africa included. PC reasons were the only reasons. Africa is really the only untapped reserve of human capital left, as far as churches are concerned.

This is the good ole USA. I shouldn't have to put signs on my door. Let's have some respect for old fashioned peoples and have some days of rest, for heaven's sake.

When you live in a Mormon controlled community for a few years get back to me. From my experience spending many years of my youth in a Mormon community, I wouldn't want one to have any power what so ever and I certainly would never vote for one based on their supremacist attitude. I just calls em as I see em based on my own experiences.

Yes, I'm sure they can magically tell what people are doing inside their homes.

The great majority of people who have something to say about LDS, outside of exmembers or people who have lived in highly concentrated LDS communities, is the missionary complaint. Obviously, the bad taste it leaves does more to keep people away than recruit new members. I sometimes wonder if the point of missions is to subject the young boys to the abuse of society and its judgments to make sure they are committed, as opposed to truly being about finding new members.

Try to understand this simple concept.... yes, this is the good ole USA where - right now, anyway - people still have their freedom to try to connect w/others in regardless to their religion, political beliefs or whatever else is important to them....

I don't like the Mormon religion and some others, but you better start worrying if the Mormons, etc are no longer allowed to go door-to-door.... you know, the long arm of the government outlawed another right..........

Same reason they gave up multiple wife's, the feds refused to let Utah be a state unless they gave it up.

A bit more complicated than that. The issue at the time was the atrocities committed on the trail, culminating with the Mountain Meadow's Massacre. The federal government actually sent a platoon(whatever they were called at the time) to Deseret(the Mormon state, a mass far larger than modern Utah) to try to intimidate the LDS. However, the army arrived at the onset of winter, and would have died if not for Mormon aid. Mormons were bringing them food half naked with makeshift shoes like it was nothing through blizzards. The man in charge of the army sent a letter back to DC saying, "the only way to take these mountains from the LDS would be to send everything the government had". Well at the time the nation was split in two(Civil War). Without full force, the Mormon military would have shred them to pieces, as they were as highly trained as the regular army. The government had no choice but to negotiate terms. The terms were to denounce polygamy, allow a federal attorney general in to run the state(basically for B. Young to concede control of the territory), and Utah was formed with the hierarchy of the church forgiven for said crimes. Lower people involved were hanged, but people knew back then Mormons in Deseret didn't act without permission from SLC.

Then you've never spent Halloween with my family  . The version of the holiday I experienced with them was pretty "G rated" compared to the pranks, blood, and gore I grew up with. We ran a very locally popular haunted house/barn type of thing on Halloween that wasn't for the faint of heart...much different than the church based chili cook off and trunk to trunk trick or treating that I experienced with the Mormons.

Yep, like I said, 'give up polygamy and Utah becomes a state.'

So then your comparison is totally unfair, good to know.
mormons do everything as a group, especially when it comes to young people. The very last thing they want is for kids to have free time away from other members.

What if some people believe in other days of rest? What if someone believes Mondays should be a day of rest. Then I suppose there should be no days where door knocking is allowed, eh?

Does it really kill you to either ignore the door knocking or occasionally have to politely decline to talk on a Sabbath?

They make signs; "No trespassing, and no soliciting, religious nut jobs this especially means you!"

    But they don't read either.
