And this is what the election will boil down to. Will the American people be convinced by blatant lies like this, or will they decide based upon the substance of the issues?

Obama's people told him it might fail, and that would reflect on Obama. Funny thing is that people remember Obama wasn't there, and it hurt their cause...Obama has so little political capital now that he can't risk even for his union buddies...

Unfortunately, his "solution" is to throw the poor and the sick under the bus in order to lavish more money on the Pentagon and the wealthy.
Yeah, that's going to go over real well.

Ryan's plan is not ideal but it's much better than what Obama is selling. We need to do something about these problems now. It's either the Ryan plan or the Obama plan. Those are the only choices.

A ridiculous lie, but that is to be expected from your type.

Tell us, what do you think of Obamacare changing Medicare from fee-for-service to capitation? Do you think placing a hard ceiling on per patient spending is any different than a voucher system?

The notion that tax cuts are stimulative is a basic recognized economic phenomena, irrespective of political bias. What is absolutely not true is the revenue generation ability of tax cuts. The relationship is non-linear in this regard. Corresponding elimination of tax expenditures, and the automatic stabilizing nature of the progressive tax system in accordance with real GDP growth due to tax cuts and other factors leads to increases in revenue. Of course tax policy is much more complex than this, but I think one gets the point.

Did anyone else catch Romney's little "oopsy" this morning when he announced Ryan as "the next President of the United States"? I chuckled even harder after Ryan gave his short speech, then Romney came out and said "I've been known to make mistakes every now and then. What I meant to say was 'the next Vice President of the United States..."

I'm actually pretty warmed up myself about Romney's pick for VP. Ryan is a lot better at public speaking than Romney is; must be all of his practice that Ryan got in Congress over the years. I think Romney did the right thing about picking a more outspoken personality as his running mate; it won Obama the election in 2008 with Biden. The difference being, of course, that Ryan is nowhere near the dumbass that Biden turned out to be. Ryan is a much more endearing personality than Obama is, and I agree with another poster's mentioning of Ryan's state of Wisconsin as being a battleground state that Obama won't go near after shooting himself in the foot over the union thing taking place in that state these past couple of years now. As much as the Obamedia and the Democrats try to make Romney look like a clueless and classless fool, Romney trumps them every time. One of the advantages of being a shrewd capitalist businessman, I guess.

    VP Pick Sparks Strong Reactions

    Huffington Post | 08/11/2012

“Mitt Romney's choice of Paul Ryan as his running mate sparked an outpouring of reaction from within the political community.

HuffPost's Jon Ward reports on Romney's decision:
“Ryan is a bold pick who will energize the Republican Party, but putting him on the ticket is fraught with risk and instantly puts Ryan's budget plan front and center in the 2012 campaign.
    ...
Romney's alliance with the 42-year old Ryan has become the most dramatic development of the 2012 presidential campaign. Romney had been presumed for much of the last few months to be set on a safe pick, such as Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), or former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.”

    Michelle Malkin
“Pissant David Frum pisses on Paul Ryan==> http://t.co/DdklPNUC”

Paul Ryan? I guess they plan on winning. It's all about who is able 2 get more ppl 2 the polls. Ignorance fear & hate r great motivators.

Paul Ryan is the one VP pick who can unite liberal and conservative America. #CouponsCouponsCoupons

Paul Ryan is a star. I hope one day I will get to vote for him for President. But right now, in this election, he's the wrong choice for VP.

    Remarkable that a national ticket is Mormon-Catholic. A lot's changed since 1960.

Tweeps telling me that doubting Ryan pick aligns me with P. Obama. May I point out that the actual Obama supporters are cheering the pick?
    ...

    ....

Larry Sabato says that it is remarkable that a national ticket of Mormon-Catholic proves that alot has changed since 1960. I disagree because nothing really has changed.

First and foremost, Romney has stolen Ryan’s Budget Plan and it is now called the Romney-Ryan Plan and Romney awarded Ryan the VP slot as payment of this useless budget plan that gives everything to the wealthy while making major cuts to the elderly, infirm, education, and the unemployed.

Some people still hate black presidents, the evangelicals will never accept a Mormon president, and are uncertain about a Catholic VP, the nation is divided into highly toxic divisions.

Women have been attacked by republicans in every state that is republican controlled, and rights formerly held are being taken away, there is a backlash against gays and lesbians concerning marriage, with Southern Baptist, southern based chicken-sandwich restaurants holding ‘one man one woman marriage’ demonstrations.

These two clowns will never make it...and all because Romney refuses to show his IRS tax statements and will probably be indicted if he does show them. So while he says the American people don't deserve to see his IRS returns, in November, the American people will say that Romney doesn't deserve to be president.

Save your condescension for someone else. Your off-topic flaimbaiting posts are well known on this forum, and just as quickly dismissed.

Biden is an embarrassment to Obama. His gaffes are legendary. Paul Ryan will chew him up.

I'm pleased. Ryan brings the focus where it should be.
    The economy.
    The budget.
    The debt.
    Policy.

None of those areas are anything Obama can defend, discuss, or run on. This election is now clearly defined.
Obama's back is against the wall. He's got nothin' but negative ads and cynicism. He can't run on his record.
Not a good position for him to be in.

Only because they have been lied to by the left. Ryan's plan does not affect current users of Medicare and gives the choice to keep it if you want. It doesn't gut medicare like Obama has to pay for Obamacare.

Yes, way2convey. Mention that person by name so they can run and whine to moderators about personal attacks in the hopes of getting you banned. Fall for that obvious trap that leftists like to play on this message board.

Communists are left-wing and Nazis are right-wing. Proof: Nazis supported the right-wing coalition in the Spanish Civil War.

Now, being right-wing does not make someone a Nazi just because the Nazis are right-wing, so I don't see why some people who are right-wing feel the need to make this assertion. It's okay to admit that the Third Reich supported the conservative side in the Spanish Civil War, as that does not automatically make conservatives Nazis or Nazi-like.

Look, I'm a libertarian, and I have zero problem admitting that someone whom I personally dislike is a libertarian if that's what the evidence points to. I just face the facts and refuse to sweat it.

As for the topic of the thread, I think that Ryan is a very good choice for helping defeat the incompetent incumbent idiot.

that was for third party carriers

I would also say if anyone has both medicare and a private insurance, the PRIVATE insurance goes first and everything else goes to medicare, how private insurance got medicare to go first is beyond me
